Mesdames et Messsieurs,
I was sweetly invited by a very reknown Modo (at the time I didn't know her nor her job here, she had a generosity towards a Noob like me that was surprising but now I know that she is like this) to start talking about France.
It is sometimes very hard to speak about a country with such a diversity of towns, people, landscapes, cuisines, wines, folklores and so on.
I'm not saying that you don't have the same thing elsewhere, it is just a vision of my own country with its bad habits and its good ones.
I would be happy for people who have been there to tell about their experience of it.
For people who know some towns or "departement" of France to give a description of their places.
Why not people who live in a small village to talk about it.
And for the others to talk about the way people from other countries look at it and what you see of it from outside.
I think that it would be great. So don't hesitate, shoot away ! Even for criticisms. I know that we have a bad temper and " que nous ralons tout le temps" but that way we will improve or prove you wrong ... and sometimes right, actually ...

I loved Paris. It's SO diverse, and there's history and fabulous monuments EVERYWHERE. Being one of the millions of spoiled, pampered US citizens, the small size of things shocked me. Some of the people are very frightening, though. It's probably worse for teenage females (which I am) than any other person, because there are many perverts and whatnot around. If anyone is going anytime soon, I implore you to NOT go on the Metro late at night, especially Midnight on a Saturday. Our tour group went at midnight on a Saturday and I was almost raped and robbed. Pickpockets are EVERYWHERE in Europe, it seems, and I was a "victim" of a robbery, but it was the man in front of me who had his wallet stolen. The robbers are quite clever, so I would just suggest to keep your eyes open at all costs. XP
Chateaus, such as Chateau Chambord, or Monet's house at Giverny are lovely, as well.

paris really is not that bad you just have to be careful and smart about what you do its not any wrose then any other big city in europe i would say madrid is worse
any way i love paris! paris is unlike any other city in the world in the way it is alive when you are there it feels like even the walls and streets breath and if you let it it will make you savor every part of life even the smallest things like brushing your teeth in the mornings i love the beauty of the city part of this is the artist in me but i have been there with other people who are not artist and it efacts them the same way the other part i love is it is one of those city that no matter how many times you go there you run out of new things to do and see

I looooooove Paris. Somehow, it is the center of the world (not my favorite, just the center). I used to go every few years, and I always felt wonderfully comfortable... it's so easy to find your way around. There is beauty and excitement everywhere. Nothing seems mundane in Paris. It has been several years since I've been and I feel really antsy to visit.
By the way. I have found the people very nice as long as I at least try to use French.

France was stunning! There aren't words to describe its magnificence...the people, the history, the cities...I learned so much about...everything! I loved the people and the music and the culture - the food! - it was one of the greatest experiences of my life. If any of you ever have to opportunity to go to France...GO! And don't just go to Paris! Some of the best places in France are nowhere near there. God, what I wouldn't give to go back. 4laugh
And in case any of you are wondering...I'm new. ^_^
