here is a place to share questions and insights about your spiritual quest.

courtesy is required, no insults are allowed, no questions are ignored.

i have been methodist, presbyterian, catholic and mennonite and consider myself open-minded; i have been in youth groups with jews, muslims, and serbian orthodox.

among my current friends i include satanists and wiccans too.

so i hope we can learn from each other here.

I don't believe in religion.I'm not saying not to believe in something, only that religions take it too far. Most preach they are the only Way, & it was that kind of idea that sparked the Crusades, where preasts shouted, "To kill an infidel is not murder, it is the pathway to heaven".I do believe that of all the religions I know of, Buddhism has the right principle, which is insted of worshiping a god, too worship life itself & to hold all life as sacred.

I have very different and very defined beliefs. I am not questing for anything; I have found my spirituality. So do I really belong here?

I feel bad for you. I'm not open minded on the subject of religion.I've seen miricales and I KNOW that JESUS IS LIFE! I pray that you will come to know jesus christ as your savior one day, because he loves you and is waiting....

You seamed to have missed my point.I respect your beliefs, whatever they my be, but a religion that thinks it is the only true Way is blind indeed. Also, were you unaware that the quote I posted came from the mouths of christian priests?

I'm certainly open-minded about religion, and I consider myself Wiccan, though I haven't been studying very long and am not part of a traditional coven. I have friends who are all different religions, so I don't look down on any one religion, or any one person for his or her religion. The one thing I can't stand is people trying to "save" me because I don't believe I need to be saved.

One question for everyone: How did you come to know the religion you are in is the one for you?

if that quote was from christian leaders then it makes me very sad.

just this weekend i had a friend, who happens to be a satanist (but a very niice one, you might be surprised) who had a guest at his house. my friend had a pet cricket which he showed to his guet and said 'be careful dont'e hurt it, it brings good luck"; so the guest promptly killed it and said "i did that to save your sould; you shouldn't believe in luck or satanism".

i hate being grouped with so-called 'believers" like that.

in fact i am about to make an ED post about it.

My biggest problem is with people who use religion to justify evil and immorality, much like Verentill's quote shows. I am a Christian, but that does not mean I automatically think all people who call themselves Christians are morally upstanding and better people than non-Christians. I don't think it is my place to judge people for their beliefs. If Heaven and Hell exist, who am I to say what will get people into the former and save them from the latter. I don't think it is at all practical to completely trust the teachings of any organized religion because they are so dependent on human involvement, and humans are imperfect. I believe that God is good and just, and will bring those who are deserving to whatever point they need to be to attain eternal bliss. I'm kind of at the point of rambling now, but in short I believe that all will work out for the best.

some people believe that all they have to do is go to church or profess a creed with their words and they will be fine.

but i go by what Jesus said, which was that NOT reverybody who called him "Lord, Lord" would get a rewrd!

he said that the ones he favored were those who visited prisoners and sick people, fed the naked and clothed the hungry.

Some of the things on here I have read, are very open-minded. But for those that are close-minded, let me tell you this: I would rather drink bleach before I believed in a god who didn't like or respect me.

I am a very open minded person. I have no problem in discussing any type of religion, philosophy, etc...but if you are going to be so ignorant as to not even consider what I have to say, then don't bother.

i agree

to me the highest kind of relationship between one peron and another is that of respect

it trumps love

or honor

or justice

in my opinion

My cousin has been studying world religions. He told me, that through all his research, he has descovered an overlaying religion. He explained it all to me once, but I has half blasted at the time, and dont remember much. But what he said made sense. Im Catholic myself, born and raised, but I dont agree with everything the church says. Hell, I dont agree with 90% of it. And all those rules.... I think that as long as you accept Jesus into your heart, and follow his ways (being peace and all that jazz) you get to heaven. But I know my soul's going to hell. So it doesnt really apply to me...
