My friends have never heard of any of those bands before. Then you need to find some new friends, or you;re not from the US. Anyone in the US who heard of the 1980s should know of Blondie and Duran Duran. Anyone who was alive in the 90s knows of the Foo Fighters. The Monkees had a TV show, so everyone knows of them. Blind Melon had the bumblebee girl, which everyone knew of in the early 90s.
