All things considered, I have high hopes that Booty Grab will remain as relevant as we can build it up to. I truly hope Sight Ninja continues to bless us with his awesome timers. It helps out a lot. If the timers are acting funny, though, we now have the ability to see the tanks in the regular forums and the guild forums. Ruffle has improved things and the developers continue to make further improvements. In the meantime, there are those of us who have found alternative browsers to play the game with, making the game-play even more exciting and engaging. I feel it is possible to start bringing more active Gaians into the Booty Grab community. One of the ways I believe we can bring more folks in is to actually engage each other in the threads as we did in the past. There are only a handful of us who still do this, and it is greatly appreciated. I am guilty of engaging less than I should, and I have a nice round of excuses as to why this is so. However, if you're interested in building the Booty Grab community back up, please consider actually quoting and engaging with your friends in the Gaia Aquarium Forums. For example, if I Bump and Grab a glowing tank, and I notice a fellow Booty Grabber is online, I should consider quoting them if the tank's owner is a mutual friend. This encourages positive feelings within the community and inspires others to want to join our community. Please also consider there are people with social anxiety who love to play with us and love our community, but they'd rather lurk and absorb our positivity from the shadows. They are still valuable members of our community, they are just sociably differently-abled. I beseech you to attempt using only positive words and phrases with all of those in the community, both old and new. Everybody is going through their own unique set of circumstances and we should attempt to either lend our sympathy or our silence in these times. Misfires in communication can cause the end of some beautiful friendships and acquaintances.
I have started this thread because I really want to hear the feedback from our community. I love to share ideas to bring others into our community or to make our community better in any way we can. So, please vote in the poll if you've made it to this thread and please share your individual ideas about what you would like to do to improve the image of the Booty Grab community.
Here is what I am currently doing to help improve the openness and acceptance of our community: I built and maintain a text thread in the Gaia Aquarium Forums which keeps all of the active tanks I can find in a simple format. I keep a copy of that thread in this guild as well. In the Gaia Aquarium thread, and in this guild, I offer free assistance with coding for the Bump threads, Tanks, and Sight Ninja's Timer for the individual tank owners. I actively hunt for new tanks to add to the threads. I reach out to tank owners to let them know we are waiting for them in our community. I also make suggestions to promote the visibility of their tanks. I keep this guild public. Keeping this guild public allows people to feel as if though we are open and accepting to new users at whatever stage of involvement they care to be in. I maintain activity in this guild and focus on settling my life and personal circumstances into such a way as to be even more community focused.
What I am interested in seeing in the future, though I may have limited time and resources to be able to provide: An aquarium thread in the Gaia Aquarium Forums being used as strictly a clean chatterbox for our community so we can get to know each other better and we can share insights into the community and we can let each other know when a friend's tank is glowing. I suppose I just want other Gaians to see how we shine so they wonder what we're all about and they want to be a part of our happiness and fun.
Here is the question pertaining to the poll in this thread: I have decided to fill the tanks I maintain in such a way as to focus on the personality or behaviors of the characters I created for this guild. For example, Evil Sith Lunchlady will have Lightning Bugs and Shockroaches because, well, she's a great cook, but her cafeteria does exist in an old abandoned factory, so there's only so much effectiveness cleaning can maintain in her kitchen. I also plan on keeping her available for temporary events, so she's special. The tanks I am maintaining as a babysitter for those who have taken an extended leave of absence will have only Dolphins in them from the time their fish need replaced until the end of their stay under my care. So, I have an abundance of fish who are high-trigger glowers and I would like to do something about them. This is what I have extra of:
Prince Enki = 99 Grunny Sub = 169 Bladed Vase = 293 Katsumi's Kokeshi Doll = 440 Lawnshark = 199 Memphis = 51 Kokeshi Collectable = 439 Feathered Coatl = 322 Zoey = 15 Watermeat = 21 Buzz Kill = 26 Lila = 87 Dolphin = 112 Irrawaddy Dolphin = 25 Momo the Monkey = 58 Sea Angel = 32 Purse = 98 Cuckoo = 33 Predator Prairie Pup = 54 Barnacle Fluff = 38 Gilroy = 42 Box Fish = 12 Buzz Saw = 70 Piranha = 21 Kokeshi = 18 Duneslam = 39
I want to do something with these extra fish besides selling them in the marketplace. My options are:
I take an existing game, Target Practice, which gives away Random Item Generators at this time, and give away the fish as prizes instead. After all, Jedi-Bay already gives away Random Item Generators so the game is redundant at this time.
I send the fish to Dumpster Dive.
I start a thread in Gaia Gaming called Booty Grab Grab Bag and I give the fish to perfect strangers in the hopes that they start their own tanks.
I give away the fish to those folks already in this guild and continue to do that so their payout is higher because they have free fish instead of spending their platinum on refilling their tanks.

Hey, I saw your announcement. The flamingos, coral, gnomes and what not are not decorations. They actually are fish from the zOMG fish packs.

I also made a boo boo. I mean seaflower. I thought they were named coral... redface

It's already pretty laggy even without ruffle and using adobe flash on waterfox. I try to avoid further lag. In my opinion, the really confusing part of it is the fact that the new Gaia-made link for grabbing the glowing tank doesn't open the tank with decorations and neither do my text thread links, but for some reason, having the animated decorations lags the tank?! Like what?! Back in the day, there was an item called Aquarium Snowflakes which would cause none of the fish to be able to be seen if you had the item in your inventory. You didn't even have to put the item in your tank. That was frustrating.

I don't think Aquarium Snowflakes does that anymore, though. I just looked it up and found out I had three of them in my inventory. My tank glows, so....*shrug*

voted dumpster dive but I also support giving the more valuable ones to guild members, but I couldn't vote for both/some of each. I don't want prizes to be replaced with fish, but maybe they could be bonus prizes for participation (such as every person who participates in a game, even if they don't win other prizes there, small bonus participation prizes will encourage more people to play them, like that stupid navigator game.)

I’ve always considered the Aquarium community on this site to be the tightest knit community.
The fact that after bringing back the glow timers last year, everyone kinda…sprung back into action with setting up tanks and grabbing from each other tells me some of you folks aren’t going anywhere, any time soon. smile
As far as what to do with the fish - that’s a question I’ve been wondering myself. I think setting up some sort of exchange system for aquarium regulars could be useful. (I’d absolutely give away / sell at a discount) to people who are interested in joining the community. But the leftovers…I really don’t know.

oh right, I CAN vote for two options, alt account. anyway voted for dumpster on main account (Ultrabord), give away (the premium fish) to members on this one. I don't think that target practice is the right place to do that, as mentioned, adding them as participation prizes in something like Navigator that has an extremely low chance of actually getting anything is a better idea.

I like the idea of donating to members since some of us have returned to gaia and maybe not have some of the newer fish give to dumpster dive too
