I'll bet you never heard ol' Marshall Dylan say
"Miss Kitty have you ever thought of runnin' away?
Settling down... Would you marry me
If I asked you twice and begged you pretty please?"
She'd have said yes in a New York minute
They never tied the knot his heart wasn't in it
He never hung his hat up at Kitty's place
He just stole a kiss as he rode Away

Susanoo paced, trying to think, trying to figure out his next move. He hadn't approached Kes yet and he remained anxious, pacing in place as he considered the information he recently gleaned. Specifically... How.

He wondered how to tell, if he should tell, his mate about what he learned, and the idea alone warrented another slew of pacing. His ears flicked, the stallion thinking before loking to the approaching form of O-Inari's approach, the kitsunemare sniffinf a moment, tails swaying, before she spoke, tone even.

"You seem troubled, son of storms." O=Inari drawled. Susanoo looked over, ears flicking again before frowning.

"I am. I was researching something for Kes and well... It wasn't... Good news."

"Oh, the Starfish. I noticed there's--"

"Je's her half brother. I'm not sure how to tell him either." Susanoo rubbed a temple, sighing. Two of OInari's brows raised and the Shifter continued. "I found... The area their father's gone to. But it is... Bad."

"Bad? Dead bad?" O=Inari asked. Susanoo shok his head, raising a paw before indicating himself. O-Inari arched her brows again.

"A shifter? .... And? I mean, I recall you pre-charming and you were chaos--"

"Cursed. Possibly willingly if some information is right. Nari. He's become a Shifter. He's not charmed. Which means..."

"Oh. Ooooohhh, I see." OInari them hummed. "Well, regardless, maybe you should see to telling them anyhow."

"If I di, Kes will want to find him and try ugh - reason." Susanoo sighed, frowning. OInari sarched a brow.

"Counterargument. You might direct starfish and sunwater to find a Charm maker." O=Inari rolled her shoulders, eyes narrowing slowly. Susanoo frowned.

"An Angeni. You think I should... Find an Angeni." Susanoo frowned, expression narrowing. "Are you--"

"Well if you can't do it, Susanoo -" O-Inari's tone grew sharp. Convicted. She turned, walking toweards Kes. "I have no qualms sharing. Someone needs to be the adult."

"O-INARI--" Susanoo hissed, then stopped as the mare approached Kes.

Kes was relaxing watching the water. Draig was fishing elsewhere, and the dark mare was sunning. Seeing O-Inari approach, Kes looked up and smiled, the mare grunting before flopping beside her.

"Susanoo wants to keep this t himself but he found your father. He's gotten himself cursed into a Shifter. With no charm."

"...Sussy did what?" Kes blinked in surprise. Kes shifted a bit.

"Why--"

"He thinks he's protecting you. Personally I think he's being gfoolish. You're not a filly. You're a mare. And knwing is better protection than not, Starfish." O-Inari looked to the smaller mare, ears flicking to an alert position. "Angeni can help too. Charm makers. They can help him. HJe won't be... Entirely who he was. But he'll be safer."

"I... Oh. IO see." Kes nodded, and looked out over the water. "I can see why he'd be leery."

"He means well. He loves you. I remember when he and his brother the Mon were wild. Uncharmed. Their hesitance makes sense."

"Susanoo wasn't born charmed?" Kes looked up at OInari, and the mare smiled weakly.

"He wasn't. None of them were. I won't tell you how we met, but what matters now is how much he loves you. And he's fun. I will admit - if you want to seek a charm maker... I'm willing to go in his stead. Besides, I know another mare like me who might be willing to help out." O=Inari chuckled. "A little forest dweller. Good lass."

"How did you meet Susanoo?" Kes looked over. O-Inari loked thoughtful.

The Pureshifter cornered the mare. Her herd lay in ruin, dead or scattered, but O-inari stared him down challengingly before an Angeni swept in....

"It's best you not know, Starfish. Just know... Know he loves and will never hurt you. He'd kill me before you." OInari looked away. No. No, Kes need not know Susano was so... Violent. Homicidal. Kes sighed.

"Foxtypes don't say anything straight, do they?" Kes laughed weakly. O=Inari snorted.

"Being straightforward is no fun, Starfish. But if it helps, I'm only witholding for your sake. Not his." OInari snorted, Kes blinking at the larger mare.

"Me? why?" Kes blinked. O-Inari sighed. Her brows arched. Her expression grew unimpressed, and she stared several long moments, the foxmare shaking her head, tails swaying behind her before she looked away a moment. Kes narrowed her eyes accusingly before OInari looked back to her again, and smirked. One paw nudged Kess playfully before she grinned.

"Come on. It's not obvious, Starfish?" O-Inari asked. Kes shok her head slowly and the kitsunemare laughed, loud and boisterous, before grinning fiercely, nosing Kes teasingly.

"Come on. It's not obvious?" O=Inari asked. Kes slowly shok her head, and O-Inari laughed again before rising. "We're friends, Stargfish. That's why. I only offer this kind of information for friends."

Kes blinked, and watched the kitsunemare mutant walk away, ears flicking as the other mare simply disappeared to pass Susanoo, tails flicking with mischief, and Kes hummed.

She had... A friend. Maybe even... A best friend.

The mutant really didn't know the area well, but Mioyo did hear rumours. They spoke of a wicked rabbit, a dangerous shifter whom laid tricks and traps for fun; a shifter cruel and taunting, willing to use others for their amusements, and...

Well Mioyo wasn't afraid of any such bunny rabbits.

The female Soquili ambled along slowly, rolling her shoulders to stretch and find himself loose and limber as she ambled along, green eyes alert, fovused. She didn't look dangerous, but she did, in fact, look serious. She walked smoothly, confidently - and as she began to calm, the female looked toward the cayon exit to spy the sihlouette of... A bunny like Soquili. One red ear flicked, and slowly, delicately, almost, one eyebrow rose slowly before she approached, paws flexing lazily as the female approached smoothly, expression arched and eyes glinting darkly.

"Forgive my bluntness, but you're blocking the exit." Mioyo greeted. She wasn't afraid - not really - but she was on guard. The entire situation was suspicious, and the stallion turned, blinked, and grinned widely, eyes dancing.

"Hello there! My apologies, I'm new in the area and I'm a bit stuck, you see." The stallion responded. Mioyo stared, brow archying. Really? This was the story? She'd heard better.

"...New. And stuck how?" Mioyo asked flatly, still staring. The stallion grinned.

"Why, ma'am! I'm unused to canyons you see!" The stallion responded, looking about. "Can I keep turning or..."

Oh, oh gods, he seemed so DUMB. Was this a trick? Surely it was a trick. Mioyo stared, almosty disbelieving before rearing, placing her forepaws on the rock beside him before pushing off it to turn. The satallion grinned, and emulated the Action, Mioyo staring intensely. Once he was unstuck, he grinned at Mioyo brightly, the female blinking as she stared back before one ear flicked again at him. He... He was serious? Oh stars he was serious. Mioyo sighed, shaking her head. The stallion watched, before grinning.

"You seem awfully quiet, ma'am." He spoke gently.

"Just thinking." Mioyo responded, shrugging slowly. "Afraid I don't really get to see rabbit sorts much." Mioyo still wasn't sure what to make of him, and the stalling tiklted his head.

"Wll if it helps, I don't see many folk with cat features." The stallion responded. Mioyo squAred up calmly, the giant of a Soquili's head raising proudly.

"Yes, I am rather leonine." He tail flicked, and Mioyo stretched, letting her muscles show under the red and black hide, tossing her short black mane. It wasn't a threat, but it was a strong warning she wasn't easily threatened - and that the stallion might wish to consider how he handled her carefully. The stallion watched, taking in the mare's body language slowly before tossing his head, fluffy tail twitching as he took her in slowly, expression calm as he read the mare slowly. He then shrugged, sighing himself.

"Is everyone here so paranoid?" He asked. Mioyo paused.

"I'm sorry?" The mare asked, and the stallion tossed his head, snorting calmly.

"Come on now lady. You act like I might rip your thjroat out. Come on. I'm new, but you're showing off like you might kill me at a single wrong twitch. So is it just you, otrr this entire area?" The male asked calmly. Mioyo blinked in surprise. She considered his words. He seemed not to knopw then. Maybe he wasn't the dangerous rabbit-Soq around here? Mioyo hummed, considering her answer before looking about, then loooking at the stallion again, ears pinning.

"They say," Mioyo began calmly. "That in hese parts is a rabbit shifter or monster or Soquili whom chases others in the area. A beastly, vicious creature as well. And a shifter, while unsurprising, is still nothing to take lightly. I was..."

"Expecting a fight." The stallion finished. Mioyo nodded calmly and the stallion whistled, shaking his head. "My word, no wonder you're paranoid. No wonder everyone in this area is paranoid. My word though, a Shifter." The stallion sighed, looking skyward a moment ins -- frustration? Irritation? Acceptance? It was hard to tell but the stallion absolutely seemed to be dealing with his own emotions a moment. Mioyo finally offered a thin smile.

"Do forgive my caution., Perhaps a companion might help?" The mare offered. The stallion shook his head and sighed, before motiioning a moment.

"I mean, maybe. It's probably snart - hey, maybe you can come with a while? If there is some mad rabbit or something about, a large strong mare should handle it no problem!" The stalliuon grinned. Mioyo blinked.

"My, how chivalrous.," bu5t then she laughed. Her parents were much the same - as were many of her siblings - and Mioyo grinned, bumping him with her shoulder. "Fine, fine, but ah. Turn around. We're going the wrong way." Mioyo laughed. The stallion groaned, and repeated Mioyo's turning trick to pivoty about sulkily, Mioyuo laughing. It certainly wasn't what she planned... But Mioyo suspected it would be an interesting next few days.

After all. She was babysitting.

Meteor carried his mushrooom basket as he plod into the forest, long lepine ears flicking as he entered the wood carefully and smooothly. It was a bright, sunny day - poerfectly temperatured for walking with the perfect breeze for comfort. Faint perichor filled the air and while he knew Mioyo was likely finding fruits and grass and the normal sort of things to eat, Metwor had Beans and Chloe to think of. His paws moved as he loooked heavensward with a brilliant smile, then loooked down, feeling each blade of grass as he focused on the sensations of the land below. It was such a wonderful day, that Meteor was confident he'd find plenty of his intended treats. Today? He was foraging, especially for dandelions, dandelion greens, and edible mushrooms His paws carried him deeper in as he imagined Mioyo relaxing with such wonderful treats, head tilting. ... Maybe he'd include a SMALL -- nevermind,. Bad idea.

As Meteor entered the forest the land around him was alive. Wind blew through unkempt grasses as spots of yellow and green peered up amiong it, the dandelions bobbing enticingly on long stems. The grass was wheatgrass, wild, topped with fresh grains and scenting the air with a grassy, 'green' scent. The trees were blended species, largely, deciduous. Oak, chestnut, the odd birch; all of these were danced in the moving air, leaves making shushing sounds. Bushes clung to the trees, oleander and hydreangea and more; ivy and moss climbed the trunks of trees. In all, it was almost idyllic. Meteor slowly approached the dandelions, carefully plucking dandelions by the rootsa before neatly placing them in his basket. Oh, hne knew dandelions were useful. Healthy, delicious,.... The dangelions were punishingly bitter and sweet, greens and flowers ideal for salad and tea, and the small flame of a tail Meteor possessed flicked excitedly like a puppy's, whipping hither and fro rapidly. Each step revealed new secrets and slowly wild flowers and gooseberries began to emerge, Meteor collecting the gooseberries delightedly. The scent of grass and trees and flowers and distant perichor flooded the air, and Meteor smiled at his foraging, carryiung his wicker basket almost like a puppy before finally spying a portabello mushroom beside... A garden gnome...? Meteor paused, and lowered his head, sniffing the new item before someone grumbled.

"Oye, oye, oye. Don't touch my garden gniooime., Or my mushies." The feminine voice xcaught Meteor off guard and he raised his head to spy a tiny Soquili with insectoid wings and antennae, the stallion raising his head befdore the female changed size, the Flutter huffing. The mare puffed her cheeks at him.

"Well? Sod off, this is my garden."

"I just wanted a few mushroms to bring home to a few friends..." Meteor sulked. I was foraging, you see. OH! I'm Meteor! Hiii."

"Alexis." The mare arched a brow, Alexis staring before looking at his basket. "Forage? In a spooooOIoooooky forest?" Alexis raised a hoof, wiggling it for emphasis. Meteor lit up.

"I love a challenge and a forest! I adventure you see! Like my family! So spooky is just inviting to me!"? Meteor bounced and Alexis pursed her lips. Alexis hummed and thought, head bobbing, and Meteor watched with a big grin. Surely this was nothing but good! And friendly!... Honestly, Meteor alweaqys believed the best of new creatures the benefit of the doubt. His little flame of a furry tail wagged, flitting to and fro excitedly as Alexis thought before the mare turned, disappearing into the trees. Meteor raised a paw to follow and started immediately as Alexis spoke sharply.

"DON'T TOUCH MY GARDEN. OR MY GNOME."

Meteor blinked, slowly lowering his paw again befoire frowning. He waited several seconds, watching where Alexis disappeared. When there was no sound, he turned, or began turnning, before Alexis returned with another basket. It was wovebn of dried grass, sturdy - and full of portabellos and morels, shiitake, oysters, morels, and chanterelle mushrooms. Meteor blinked as the mare handed him her basket.

"Don't. Squash the dandelions. And - don't get any ideas. My garden is for meditation. But... Well I mean,.. I do understand wanting wild mushrooms. And if you go into other areas of the woods there's also porcinis."

"Ah!" and Meteor offered his dandeliuon basket gladly. "Well! Please, please, there's tons more. Take as many as you like!" Meteor beamed. Alexis blinked, watching. She thought, and tilted her headm, then reached, slowly taking a small boquet of dandelions before backing away slowly. Meteor beamed, and bowed his head.

"Apologies for the scare. I'll go foraging elsewhere. Thank you! and for the tipo and mushrooms!" Meteor chirped. Alexis grunted, nodding, and the two turned, plodding in opposite directions as they parted ways; shafts of sunlight falling about the pair like a waterfall of golden sunlight, akmost as if light, in this moment, had become... Liquid.

Well, the mushrooms... LOOKED edible. Raven stretched her neck out, sniffing gingerly at one of the mushroooms by the lawn ghnome (Who kept this creepy thing?!) curiously again before the mare's eyes darted about suspiciously. Seeing nooone in sight, the mare leaned in closer, and nipped the mushroom in a bite, ignoring it's companions alone as she stepped back, chewing the fungus unapologetically. Her wings flutter3ed in pride at her finding a mushroom garden, and she smirked to herself. Raven had been roaming... Most of her life, really, and now was no different, the mare tossing her hair calmly as she chewed. The road was long and tiring, but she was still pleased not to be confined to one location. She didn't know what she was looking for, but she suspected she'd know when she found it, however, until then, the mare wanderedm,, which made keeping her own food... Well, an adventure in and of itself, especiqally since she mostly snacked to avoid looking fat. Wandering meant technically, sahe need not worry, but... Raven worried. A lot. Raven still tried to remain healthy though, and she slowly beganv relaxing several minutes before a female voice interrupted her snacking, and Raven swallowed with a start, looking at a flutter mare with brilliant blue mane and a pelt of many purples, the mare staring.

"Ex-freaking-scuse me, but which mushie did you eat?" The flutter asked, antennae wavering in the air. Raven stared, blinking slowly before tilting her head. When she didn't answer right away, the flutter rolled her eyes, stye3pping to inspect her garden, and Raven turned to slip away before the mare spoke.

"No, no you STAY miss-- you ate the... Oh sweet merciful heavens." The flutter groaned and Raven blinked, turning and frowning, ears pinning uncomfortably.

"The WHAT? It klooked like a picture I saw of an ediuble mushroom. Wjhat of it?" Raven asked. The flutter made a face.

"I mean, it's edible... But... Well you're not gonna like the effect." Alexis - the mare - vvremarked slowly. She frowned as Raven blinked, the flutter moving slowly befopre staring her in the eye. "The mushroom you ate, you see, causes hallucinations. Loss of the present." Alexis frowned again, moving to walk away. Raven frowned, blinking as she opened her mouth to respond before blinking.

Raven's ears flicked at the shadows, before flattening. Long-dead faces grinning menacingly; lost companions, enemies... Raven took a step back, swallowing as the land around everything seemed to ignite. The flames whirled and rose like walls. Some faces grinned wider, others pled to understand why. For a moment, Raven felt a burning branch in her mouth - before the mare spun on her heel in terror. The forms seemed to melt together like hellish soup, shifting and waroping, distorting and thuroughly moving unnaturally as the spectrehorse fused, a writhing giant of a beast covered in sevetral hundred eyes,. tongue lolling out as if salivating. Those noit melded in wailed and cried in a cacophony of screams and cries and gnashing of teeth, some teeth flying as they began to cry in an unknoweable tongue. Raven screamed.

Alexis groaned when Raven began to hallucinate, sighing before slowly taking a step forwards. She watched the other mare's muscles tense, tighten, form knots... She watched her panic and cry, fioollowing Raven's fearful gaze intricately, the flutter groaning. Greaqt. Just wehat she needed -0 and Alexis shook her head.

"Oh for the spirits' sakes..." Alexis growled, before taking a step towards Raven slowly. Her wings buzzed slightly, antennae waving like the surface of the seas in the breeze as Alexis approqached slowly, watching the panicking mare cautiously. Raven opened her mouth at whatever she was seeing... And screamed. The tinier mare screamed, and screaned. She screamed herself hoqarse. SDhe screamed in terror, frozen, hooves planted in place. Her eyes were wide, fixed, she was frozen, and Alexis approached deelicately, unsure what was happpening beyond Raven having a bad time. Alexis wasn't sure why she approached. To protect her garden? Her precious Lawn Gnome? Was the mare worried about the theif who ate one of her hallucinagenic mushrooms?... Well,. technically, yes, for the faqct she sincerely worried - but Alexis wouldn't tell Raven. Alexis need not mention the witch she bartered her hallucinagenic mushrooms with nor need she reveal... Much. But.. She approached with gravce before slowly, evenly reaching out with one hoof and touched Raven delicately. Raven startled, and satared at Alexis, eyes wide, mouth open, in silence.

The flutter reappeared to Raven parting flame and shade and entity like water. She carried an ethearial glow,, a shimmer, moving as if walking on water that soothed her mind and calmed the angry shades, and Raven stared, confused, frightened. Her mouth was agape, eyes wide. The martre was silent and confused, before a shade approached from near Alexis slowly and evenly. A stallion's shapoe, Raven noted. Tall and strong, gentle.... As if peering into the dark and into a shadow, with no features discernable; no eyes, nothing but a smile for the mare, gentle... Sweet. The stallion passed through Alexis like a ghost and lowered his face to Raven's, nuzzling her, as if saying 'There there. There there.' She remained silent, before slowly, anxiously, Raven closed her eyes. The presence felt safe and warm, and she could breathe.

Alexis watched the change in curious silence, before contemplating herself.

Alexis grew the hallucinagenic because Brrynhildr told her she used it in a tyea for spirit communication - to touch the spirits themselves and gain wisdom, and Alexis wondered if a spirit was sooothing Raven now, watching the mare untense silently. She watched Raven calm, and watched her se3ttle. She couldn't see what Raven did, but she felt a change in the air. Raven finally calmed, and Alexis spoke softly.

"What do you see?" She asked quietly. Raven blinked.

"I... See fire. Shades. They don't go near you though. Like - you're water." RTaven responded. Alexis nodded.

"A witch I trade them with uses them to visit the spirits for magic and divination. Are they speaking?" Alexis asked curiously. Raven was silent for some time, and Alexis wondered if she was dpzing off, before Raven spoke.

"Not in a language I know. some are... Distortions of familiar faces. Enemies. Friends. And then there's.. A stallion. By my side. He implied it's okay. he's comforting... Calming."

"A spirit." Alexis breathed, then sighed. "But..."

"But?" RTaven blinked.

"Well.. You should lie down. Wait the effects out. Come on. You and your spirit guide can come with me to my clearing and don't stomp my mushrooms or gnome on the way. A'ight?" Alexis frowned, but Raven nodded.

"A spirit... Alright." Raven nodded, stepping forth unsteadily before moving to follow Alexis as the mare turned, guiding Raven through the woods foiir her private clearing. And Raven followed, gazing quietly about at the surroundings her hallucinations gave her, including the spirit-like stallion... As the pair disappeared into the woods.
