Eri saw her friend and the Core changing, morphing, dog form rippling like hexagonal cells as it stared away from the throne, gaze locked on Sivally and those behind it. It looked up, towards the Guzzlord, calculating the loss of the order that it was entrusted with.

"I'm sorry!" She cries at the Sivally, sparking and hiding as she felt that energy make her fur rise up--

And a cry, loud and strong, breaks through, shaking the room and the statues and the energy dissipates with the sound becoming low, rumbling.

The Emolga hybrid looks up, up....at the back of a fan of hexagons. A new shape...a new form...fifty percent...
"Zac?" She whispers, and the tail of the Pokemon curls around her wrist. It looks back behind itself, looking at her, locking eyes. The tail squeezes, a small comfort, and she chokes on her breath, tearing up. "You...go this. Go...save the world, friend." She shakes her head and gives a serious nod. Zac reluctantly lets go, and glides into place in front of the throne.

One by one, it lights up the white marks on its fan, a green glow beginning to emanate from its mouth. Channeling its attack, swinging its head upwards, the Zygarde pours every little bit of itself it has into the Core Enforcer attack launched straight towards the Guzzlord, honing straight by the force of the Ultra Beasts' suction from their space.

Not how she intended on trying to dispose of this Silvally creature, whatever it was. But...Demon Wing? Freth, now finally able to check her surroundings for a couple of seconds couldn't believe her eyes. Crystal? Here? Though...she's...so old...when did she come back? How? Never mind that, questions for later. Silvally wasn't backing down still. "Ninetales!" she called out to the icy fox. After the Heat Wave, Ninetales needed a minute to recoop itself, but it was back, ready to go. However, that would be easier said. Silvally was unleashing now a Thunderbolt to keep both Ninetales and Freth at bay. "Ninetales, Aurora Veil!" The Ninetales's tales would fan out and a rainbow like screen rose up; the attack crashed upon the screen. Freth had to turn away for a second of the massive flash when the attack made impact.

"I've really had enough of this thing. Ninetales, use-" Freth suddenly hesitated. A wave of strong emotion rushed upon her. Once again, none of them hers. But who was giving that kind of...

She looked at towards the Silvally. An artificial creation it might have been, but...no different than any other Pokemon. With it no longer being the Dark type, she could read it. Loud and clear. This hellbent obsession. Freth couldn't quite figure it out, but...this wasn't out of some sort of duty. No. She felt longing. Caring from this creature. Towards...Zygarde? There was more to this story than what she was capable of getting right at the moment.

"FRETH! THE GIRL!" The voice in her head shouted, bringing Freth back to reality. Silvally was back on the attack. To Eri. Freth's hesistation was going to be Eri's demise.

"No!" Freth was about to reach out, once again with her psychic power, but before she could do that, she was blinded by the powerful light coming from Zac. When it died out, so did this battle it seemed. Freth wasn't too familiar with this form of Zac. She knew of it being the hound and the towering titan, the latter of which she was expecting to challenge Guzzlord...not this serpentine form. Though...perhaps it would be enough to challenge that Guzzlord after all. Freth then once again reached out to Silvally to grab it with psychic power and pressed down on it; Freth's feathers once again lit up signifying it. This was going to be a bit taxing to Freth the longer she held on. "I get it now you wanted to protect the cells, but maybe its about time you sit back and let Zac save you for once!"

Jay was torn; he wanted to rush to Lu's side, to comfort her in her last moments, but at the same time, he coudn't turn his attention away from the battle. Not while everyone was still in danger. The massive Draco Meteor he could see would be bearing down on them any moment now, and there wasn't much they could do to stop it. Before he could think much more on it, he heard Rala's voice in his mind, asking for Fairy-type energy. Unfortunately, he didn't have any Fairy-type Pokemon, and none of his current Pokemon could learn any offensive Fairy-type attacks besides Charm, which wouldn't be much use here. That being said, there was something he could do, and he looked at Bluefur. "Do it," he said, and the Lucario nodded. "Dragon Pulse at the Draco Meteor!" Bluefur took a moment to let the attack charge, wanting to put a lot of energy behind it, before releasing the attack, hoping to at least slow it down, even if it didn't do much to break it apart.

--------

Allison heard Rala's telepathic request, and she knew that there was something she could do. Even if her grandmother didn't leave her much, there was one thing she could use. It was something that nobody, other than herself and her Pokemon, knew that she possessed, and she'd vowed never to use it unless it was a life-and-death situation. Well, this was definitely a life-and-death situation if she'd ever seen one, so now was as good a time as any to use it. Raising her right arm, she pulled back the wristguard covering her wrist, revealing a Z-ring. There was already a crystal in the slot, the only one her grandmother had been able to pass down. Looking at Arauth, she nodded once, and the Misdreavus, seeing what her mistress was about to do, felt almost giddy with happiness. It had been so long since she'd been able to access that kind of power. Allison, nodding at her remaining Ghost-type partner, looked over at Rala and gave a small smile.

I don't have any Fairy-type Pokemon, but perhaps this will help, she told the elderly Gardevoir telepathically. Holding out her wrists, she began to do a dance that she had learned from her grandmother. Strangely, Arauth was moving in time with her trainer, even though she couldn't see her since they were both facing Rala. After a moment, the power emanating from the crystal in the wristband transferred from Allison to Arauth, and the Ghost-type glowed with a pink light, Fairy-type energy. "Arauth, let's send our combined energy to Rala," she said. "Use Twinkle Tackle!" She doubted just this Fairy-type energy would be enough, but perhaps it would help, even if just a little.

More of the rubble would get removed as it ended up in the air, Guzzlord's Swallow proving to be far more effective than what one or two people were going to manage. She'd topple over and grip the rubble she was about to remove when her footing faltered, a single Pokeball dislodged in the process and going towards Knives as it was being sucked through the air; there was a good chance there was more where that came from, with more proof coming when more of the rubble shifted and a rather dirty Jolteon was finally, barely visible. Pay dirt?

Knives joined her quickly digging free his and her set of Pokeballs alongside his nomenclature, quickly freeing the lot of them from the rubble of their former prison. The knives he sticks back through his woven belt behind his back, the Pokeball he turns back towards the Guzzlord and its final crushing attack at the island. Only to see Zac's retaliation - immense and powerful rush out over the island. He shields his eyes with a muscular forearm, the brilliant emerald light nearly blotting out the falling meteor in front of them. "Gh..." He grunts as the air displaced by the beam rushes past the both of them. Looks like any kind of plan he had been formulating was going to be... unnecessary. He glances at Akali next to him, tearfully reunited with his Jolteon and he grimaces. Had he been the baddie here?

The old woman shielded her eyes from the light of the blast Zac, now in his giant snake form, let loose on the giant eldritch creature, finally dealing with it. However, once the dust settled from that attack, there was still the incoming Draco Meteor. She looked around at everyone there, Freth holding down the Silvally, Eri, holding close to Zac, her charge now saving them all, and many of the others trying to slow or stop the attack. “To hell with it,” Crystal muttered quietly, waving Demon Wing over to her, “I don’t think I have too much longer left anyways.” The Espeon hybrid rubbed the black fire dragon’s snout, then turned her attention to Freth. “Forgive me for this Freth, but can you make sure that Eri gets reunited with her grandmother back in the Duchy? I don’t know if I’ll make this trip back.” With that request asked, she would get onto the Charizard’s back, nudging the black dragon into the air.

As the two flew toward the meteor, she looked down at the others on the ground, some of them reminding her of those she fought with in the past. The memories of fighting alongside the Snagems of old, fighting off threats to this world, like Lysandre and Ein, though it seemed like he certainly had the last laugh here in this timeline. There were also plenty of good times, and just way too many crazy adventures to recall them all. It was a shame that there were so few of them now… Her eyes were closed as she remembered their faces, of her friends and comrades, until she snapped them open and glared at the incoming attack. “Everyone… Honor the past sacrifices of everyone… And pray their futures continue. Demon Wing, throw me at the meteor.” With one final glance back at his trainer, he nodded and grabbed her, spinning around a couple times before throwing her with the momentum the Charizard gained. “I would let a repeat of Ein happen again, where we defeat him but he still got the last laugh. With the last of my energy, everything I can give, take this! My Last Resort!” In her hands would form a giant hammer made of golden light, one that would grow larger and larger, and it would almost be comical if the circumstances weren’t so dire. Once she could give no more and was close enough, she swung the hammer at the meteor, hoping that it would finally shatter on impact, or at least she could alter the trajectory. Anything to save the lives of this new group that could carry on their legacy.

The impact would shake Vega to his core, blacking out the poor man for a few moments as he simply began to limply plummet back towards the ground. It was likely that his fate would be to simply continue his fall uninterrupted to the ground, if it weren't for the blast that Zac unleashed, the shock of it jolting Vega back into the world enough to see the oncoming Draco Meteor and feel the flames that were currently still covering his body. It had been an alright run, but this really seemed like it might be it. There could not be anything left in the tank for these guys after what it took to bring down that pitch-black demon. They had given it their all but such a disorganized and ragtag group stood no chance in the wake of overwhelming power on this scale, especially given how few of them seemed to posses something to even take a chance at hitting this scale. Even he had just barely managed to create such a thing and that had required piggybacking off the entity's own move to do so.

And yet. And yet, as his fall continued, he could see the last blasts of pure grit and determination streak past him, aimed to disrupt and destroy this attack. A valiant effort he wished he could contribute to but the attacks were all moving too fast for him to be able to bolster with the few flames he had left. At least, until he saw a hybrid coming towards him, a hammer beginning to coalesce into her hands. He could almost feel time slow down as they began to pass each other, the flames on his body already moving before he could even give a motion. And as they split apart, Vega kept his attention focused on Crystal, molding the new flames that had leapt onto her hammer to increase the swing speed and giving the hammer a nice rocket boost. But he couldn't spare any thought to how he might try to land, simply wanting to make sure that this Draco Meteor was halted or at least given the best chance they could to do so.

Rala watched, Moonblast in hand, as those around her helped in whatever way they could, but only a scant few helping in the way she asked, She realized it was foolish of her to assume that everyone had the same kind of Pokemon and so, choosing to keep that thought to herself, Rala added her attack to the group assault, grateful that she was assisted by at least one other. Two, considering the Helping Hand. She then watched as her Twinkle Tackle-imbued Moonblast launched for the massive Draco Meteor alongside everyone else's attacks. It was only now did she allow herself to see the scope of the enemy's last ditch effort. Even if everyone had aided her, and with her own power unleashed from her cleansed heart crystal, it wouldn't have been enough. What was being furled against it now might not even be enough.

Rala felt a tang of fear through her being but for a moment before the image of her long-lost trainer came unbidden in her mind, bringing with it a heart-calming wave of stoicism. Nodding to herself, Rala Teleported to the unconscious Yuna's side and erected a barrier of Protect around herself and her ward. It would not be enough. She knew that, and yet she was willing to risk her own pain for the sake of saving Yuna's life.

The tremendous blast of green energy slammed into the weakened Guzzlord, the interdimensional devourer feeling the power of this Earth’s protector first hand as it let out an otherworldly cry of pain. Its screams of pain would fade away as the stream of energy exploded and sent a shockwave of green energy spreading outward all around, leaving behind little yellow flowers behind growing out of the cracks of the city’s concrete. Guzzlord itself simply hunched back onto the ground, knocked out cold and defeated. However its final act was not yet finished.

The meteor summoned forth from space, called upon by the intruder’s dragonic energies, was still threatening the last visage of life on Earth and knocking out its summoner would do nothing to stop its descent. It was up to the assembled group to prevent its impact and save Aether Island from certain destruction.

With Rala leading the way the group launched their respective attacks at the descending meteor. Blast of Fairy and Dragon energy collided with it, even a Z-Move, following up the now flaming hammer construct of the elderly Espeon hybrid of Snagem old. The initial energy assaults upon the meteor didn’t seem to do much more than remove the cloak of Dragon energy surrounding and empowering it, certainly robbing it of its ability to create a great deal of damage upon impact however there was still the threat of a giant rock from space and all the might of gravity that it brought with it as it fell. With the Dragon energy gone it was, in theory, vulnerable to Crystal’s mighty strike of her hammer, the impact of the burning Last Resort sending ripples of energy and flames pulsating across the giant meteor and for but a moment after her strike landed nothing happened. And then, all at once, it happened.

The meteor would shatter in the sky with tremendous violence thanks to the group’s combined efforts, causing chunks of space rock of varying size to rain down all across the island. A few smaller ones would hit the ground nearby the group but they were largely safe. However in the midst of the sudden chaotic rain of death a large chunk rapidly approached the group, threatening them all who might not have the means to escape quickly, the piece big enough to at least ensnare a few of them. Zac had been too busy firing off, and exhausted by, its Core Enforcer to help with the meteor and it was only after it had been shattered that he could catch his breath but when the piece threatened to crush some of his friends it was too late, there was no way the Zygarde could move quick enough to save them as it fired a Dragon Pulse at it in vain. It would not reach it in time.

-----

Silvally growled at Freth for a second, though her empathic powers allowed her to deduce that there was no malice behind it, simply irritation, perhaps at itself for letting things end up like this. The monster would go silent for a while longer and stare at Freth in the eyes. It was thinking, considering her words. The chimera would snort and actually nod at her, displaying shocking intelligence as it signaled it agreed with Freth. This moment of peaceful understanding between them wouldn’t last long as the creature suddenly perked up and flicked its head around towards the exit. With an urgent ‘bark’ it raced over to an Alolan Sandslash statue, converting itself to a Steel type before flying up with Aerial Ace through a hole in the ceiling caused by their battle. Where was it going?

-----

Just as it seemed certain that the slowest of them were doomed to be crushed a strange creature appeared out of nowhere and with a distorted cry, as if someone stacked recordings of different Pokemon cries on top of each other, and delivered two slashes in the form of a glowing silver ‘X’ shape of energy upon the falling meteor chunk and completely destroyed it, small mostly harmless pebbles raining down instead.

Landing on the ground after its successful Multi Attack saved them, Silvally stared at the group with suspicion before noticing Zac in his 50% form, standing tall and staring at him from a distance. Silvally would let out a whine and then proceeded to race off, quickly disappearing as it appeared to head towards the wilds.

Once everything was over the city was seen to be in worse shape thanks to the falling meteor chunks and their battle but it and the island for the most part was still in one piece. As for the cause of all this damage it was still passed out cold, what they were going to do with the monster was a question they probably all had, that was until Zac slithered on over to the defeated Guzzlord. The Order Pokemon would let out a flash of green light, the ground beneath Guzzlord glowing green as well as countless vines rapidly growing out of the cracks in the ground, the cement rapidly reduced to sand as the vines came out. Quickly Guzzlord was completely encased in vines before the vines retreated back into the ground, taking Guzzlord with it. It wasn’t going to harm anyone anymore.

After Zac finished taking care of Guzzlord the snake let out a pained cry and suddenly reverted to its 10% form as cells rapidly fell off its body and turned gray, dead. The Zygarde ‘dog’ then laid down and began to look up at the hole in the dome, whining. The pollution, it was seeping in, and with it no doubt death for them all, but first and foremost the embodiment of the Earth itself Zac. Too weak to help anymore Zac just laid there, crying out as it stared up at the hole in the dome. They had saved themselves from immediate death but how much longer could they survive now that their sanctuary was breached? Certainly this was a hollow victory.

Alex patted Rancor on the back when he returned, for his part in helping to bring down the Guzzlord, before eying Vega falling down to the ground still, nothing stopping his fall. “Hell….” A shrill whistle would suddenly emanate from the man’s lips, different notes coming out to direct the Talonflame still flying in the air to catch Vega. “At the very least, you’re not falling to your death… even if we’re all going to die here eventually.”

“Gar.” The Garchomp put his claw on his trainer’s shoulder as the man sighed, looking at the hole. They all survived the Guzzlord and its Draco Meteor… but he also wondered if it was a good thing they did?

“We all die eventually, Rancor… Which death I wonder would be better, though?” He looked from Rancor to the Larvesta in his arms, given to him by Vega for safekeeping. “I’d rather not have you die in my arms, though, instead of your partner’s at least.” One more sigh would exit Alex’s mouth though, before he mused, “Maybe we’ll get to meet up with Aunt Aile again after this, at least. Wherever the afterlife might be.”

------------------------------

Crystal smiled a weak smile once the meteor was shattered, energy completely spent and then some, but she was at least able to save most of the group. Though, the larger debris began to concern her as it fell aimed towards the majority of the group. She’d weakly reach out as she fell to Earth herself, unable to muster anything to stop or slow it. Thankfully, Silvally came in to save them, but she knew she was done, at least. And with the barrier broken, it wouldn’t be that much longer until the rest of the survivors were done for as well. ‘Damn,’ she thought to herself, ‘too little, too late…’ Her increasingly rapid descent to Earth would be stopped by Demon Wing, who caught his trainer in his arms and looked at her between glances at the shattered barrier and the exhausted Zac. “Demon Wing…. Sorry. I think… I burned myself out.” She’d laugh a short, bitter laugh before continuing. “Please… You and the others... watch over Eri. Please. I’m sorry…” She closed her eyes and leaned into her Charizard, who flew down next to Eri with his trainer gone limp in his arms. Her breaths were getting slower and shallower, though she hadn’t left the world of the living. Yet.

Rala watched as the meteor split into many pieces, and as the power high wore off and her heart crystal's light faded entirely, she watched the chunks hit the earth, and the consequences of that. She did not know that the attack had an actual object in its grasp until it was far, far too late to do anything meaningful about it. As the dust settled, she levitated to the ground, going to where Yuna lay. The Gardevoir was starting to feel her age again, so she used Telekinesis to pick up the body of her trainer's daughter, and with a quick Teleport, the two appeared before his other child, Aden, who had been sitting in the Ponii Wasteland all this time, his back turned to the crisis going on in more civilized lands.

"I figured everything went to pot with all the explosions," he grunted, walking up to Yuna. Taking some strange items from his pockets, he knelt down beside his sister and began fumbling with the gauntlets she still had on her. "Why'd your crystal change color?" he asked absentmindedly.

"I'll explain later," Rala replied telepathically.before teleporting away. Aden wasn't alone for long, though. "You know you're doing it wrong, right?" Corona asked while peeking out from behind a scorched wall.

"She's not going to get any proper rest until I get these off," Aden explained. "So I can afford to take my time."

"That's messed up," Corona retorted Aden only shrugged, and since Corona was a child it didn't take her long to change the subject. "Where's that cute gardy go?" she asked, referring to Rala.

"Beats me," Aden scoffed.

~*~

Rala, meanwhile, found herself a nice mound of rubble tall enough to keep her out of the reach of most and sat down, closing her eyes and expanding her mind. I want to see the future of this world, she thought to herself. Her eyes opened, swirling with Psychic-type energy as she used Future Sight. Her consciousness soon found itself in a bright void, which confused her. What she saw before her made no sense until she realized that what she was seeing wasn't the future. She was seeing the past. The people that she loved that had left her behind. The family she so closely protected. Even the moment she first met the man that would become her trainer. Memories reflected on an empty void.

Rala snapped out of the move with tears in her eyes. It took her a while to figure out the meaning of the vision, but she was not surprised with the result. This world was already dead. Human and Pokemon alike would not be able to sustain themselves on it for much longer. Life itself would soon cease to be. Rala closed her eyes and gathered Ghost-type energy in her hands. I will not stand idly by and watch the loved ones I have left starve to death. I have been away from my Trainer for long enough. Having thought this, Rala lifted the Shadow Ball she had created and let her heart absorb the fell energy of the move. It didn't take long for her body to fall lifelessly to the ground. She stared at it for a bit, then turned to see the spirt of Terashi smiling at her. Taking his hand in hers, she followed him to the afterlife peacefully.

While Monique was attempting to figure out where she could be more useful, the meteor came and was met with resistance that shattered it into pieces high above Poni Island.

All she and her Pokémon could do was watch as the rest unfolded. The invading rock now rained down in chunks, some of which she could tell had landed in the direction of New Po Town. The sheriff grimaced. Oh dear. The noise and shadow of the largest piece nearing an almost direct hit directed her gaze away from any view of the island and directly above. She stared as Silvally's Multi-Attack shattered the meteor fragments into rocks that rained down harmlessly.

And then she stared at what was left. Oricorio was chirping, alarmed at the massive gap in the Poni Island dome.

The world out there was unsafe. Everyone knew that. It was only a matter of time before it claimed them, too.

Monique, her clothes in tatters from all of the action, looked at her Pokémon. Marowak twirled its baton nervously. Oricorio was chirping in what felt like ever increasing alarm. She then stared at the hole, feeling the pressure difference in the air created by the structure's failure.

Is this how it ends? She wanted to hold her companions close. In trying to save those I protect...did I contribute to their demise too?

Desi watched as events unfolded. The Silvally was beaten down enough that the Zygarde core could reform enough to put an end to Guzzlord, then it helped break the Draco Meteor the massive beast had summoned up. By the time Guzzlord had been removed from the picture entirely, there was a massive asteroid falling down upon them. She had barely had a moment to process it all before so many others leapt into action and broke the cloak of Dragon energy in order for Zac to make that difference. Silvally had practically vanished in an instant after that, appeared at the last moment to completely stop the Meteor from falling on them all but... what good did it really do?

Looking up at the sky, through the shattered down above, she could feel tears running down her cheeks. Vaughn had said it was getting better out there but up in the sky, she could see the toxins leaking in, tendrils of the stuff stretching downward in all directions. It wouldn't take long before tendrils became clouds and the clouds would descend upon them all with the same unceasing hunger that the beast which had spawned them had brought to bear on the world outside. "Momma... Grandpa Lykas... Grandpa....Odd?"

The girl's voice faltered slightly, shifting from a pout to a question as she felt a pair of cold arms embrace her. She couldn't see it but she felt the warmth those cold arms brought with them. ~It looks like I was too slow... Be brave, Desi. The Otherworld will welcome a sweet and courageous soul like yours into the best place possible.~ She couldn't hear it but the voice inside of her was one she hadn't heard since she'd been in diapers.

"Grandpa Odd... I tried to find you but I think it just made everything worse..." Desi cried out, arms at her sides as she threw her head back and let out a wail, mourning the world beyond the island and the fate she felt certain was coming for what little life remained on it.

Odd, formless though he might be, looked toward Freth and smiled inwardly. ~Thank you for finding her. At least at the end, she was with family, even if she didn't know it.~ Those words would likely never find their mark. The world had been all but consumed beyond the island's barrier and now it seemed the same was happening here, all that was left was to accept the hand they had been dealt. Some of this group would likely find it easier than others but the child's crying wasn't likely to help.

All was silent as the immediate crisis by Guzzlord was quelled. However, there was the other problem. She looked towards the sky, taking note to the hole in the gigantic dome that the Guzzlord had made. She could literally see what was essentially a poison seeping into the dome. Perhaps it wasn't as bad as it was outside the dome, just as said. It was still more than bad enough to suffocate everyone here in a matter of time. It'd probably take an hour, two at the most to fill the entire dome and overtake all those in it and bringing an end to what remained of life on this miserable planet. But for some odd reason, Freth was okay...

She walked off towards a nearby wall and sat up against it, followed by her late companion's Alolan Ninetales. She started to pet the fox for a job well done then looked off towards everyone else. Despite the Pyrrhic victory, she felt like...the battle that she just had was something she needed in quite some time. She couldn't understand why too much though. Her last vividly clear memories were with the Snagems and not stuck in hellhole, but yet the conflicting memories from there on made it so that there was a feeling of longing, something that she was waiting for. Her feelings shielding herself from the despair looming in the room from everyone else was having.

"You're feeling nostalgic." The voice in her head stated.

"I guess I am." Freth said as she started to fold her wings back in front of her. "Its weird. I didn't imagine myself getting like this on the final hour and such, but then I just look at everyone here. Decades later and there are still those who wanted to make a difference for their own selves which pretty much served the greater good anyhow. I don't know how given my predicament but I had missed that for some reason. It was nice."

"Because of that, I'm a bit surprised that you didn't try to stop the fumes in some way with your power." the voice then stated to her.

"Could I have done that? Because I didn't think such a thing is possible."

"You'd be right. It would in fact be impossible to any psychic or even a whole massive group with more power and skill than any would be capable of doing and even then there would be no guarantees." she would explain. Freth would then hear a long winded sigh within the reaches of her mind then silence for a couple of seconds. "You know? Maybe that one last battle was good for both of us."

"Man, though...so many questions I had from this, though. Probably the only bad part that I could think of besides the hole in the dome." Freth stated.

"Couldn't have it all."

"Story of my life."

Vega couldn't take his eyes away from the Draco Meteor, focused entirely as he watched the apocalyptic assault swiftly receive its end at the hands of their last ditch efforts. And as the relief washed over him, he would begin to remember that he was plummeting to the ground. Thankfully, someone else had already taken this into account as he felt feathers begin to brush against his back before getting snatched up by Alex's Talonflame. "Well....that answers my lingering question of if he cares or not." Vega muttered to himself, settling in as they swooped back down towards the hunter and his Garchomp.

He did not need to be close to hear the dour words coming from his friend though. So as he landed, Vega would offer his response. "I prefer a death where I can prevent it as long as I can and be around friends when it comes time." Vega said, quietly putting an arm around Alex's shoulder as he looked towards the hole in their safe haven.

Once everything was done and the Draco Meteor was no longer a threat, Jay breathed a sigh of relief, but it was short-lived as the pollution from outside the barrier came seeping through the hole created by Guzzlord. Well, ****. Just when he thought everyone was in the clear, danger once again reared its ugly head. His father had drilled into him never to relax until he was absolutely certain that the danger was truly past, but he'd forgotten with all the excitement of the last few hours. Thinking of his father had him looking toward Lu, and his eyes widened when he saw the elderly Lucario lying against a broken pillar, blue sparks traveling down her body every few moments.

"Lu!" he said, making his way toward her. He knelt beside her and took one of her paws in his hands, causing her to look up at him with a pained smile. He didn't know what he could do to save her, or if he could do anything. He'd never had any training in this kind of situation, so all he could do was watch as Lu's body began to fade right in front of him. He knew this was the end for his long-time partner, and as his eyes filled with tears, he saw a bright light to his left, and he turned to see what was causing it. His eyes widened in shock as a familiar figure appeared in the light, and he recognized his father, Brian, as the man walked toward them. "You've done well, my friend," his father said, holding out his hand to his old friend. "You did what I asked you to and more. Thank you for looking out for my son when I couldn't. Now it's time to come home."

Based on the fact that Jay could only hear Brian's voice in his head, he had to assume that he was the only one seeing the vision, as nobody would have known what Brian looked like, except maybe Freth and Crystal. Lu, for her part, knew that her time was ending, and she looked at Jay with a smile as her body finally faded, leaving Jay sitting where she'd just been, watching as her spirit joined that of his father. As the two old friends were finally reunited, Lu's age seemed to melt away, and he could see the young, vibrant Lucario she had once been. The sight made him smile before the two walked back into the light, which vanished as they did so.
