TM4 - Ryan and Wren vs Cheryl and Riley

Miraculously the Hydro Pump hit! Blasting the Drifblim out of the air and sending it tumbling towards the ground, for sure it looked like this was it until just a few feet away from impact it stopped its self, corrected its position, and let out a defiant shout at Orth. Oh no, it wasn't a critical hit. Seeing that her Pokemon was just seconds away from fainting Cheryl decided it was time to throw all her cards out onto the table.

"We aren't giving up! It's probably over for my teammate and I but we can't go down quietly. Please understand. Drifblim, Hyper Beam!" Cheryl commanded.

With a cry that echoed throughout the stadium the Drifblim would reveal its 'balloon flap' and fire from it everything it had left in it in the form of a massive beam of raw energy that whizzed through the air with a roar, the Hyper Beam headed straight for Orth.

"Orth! Blast back with Ice Beam! We will not fall!" Ryan roars out. Orth takes in another deep breath and fires off a powerful Ice Beam to meet the Hyper Beam.

The two beams clashed in midair, a flash of light from one end and chunks of ice flying outward from the other. For a brief moment the two stayed stationary where they met until slowly the Hyper Beam would begin to overtake the Ice Beam, the move just naturally far more powerful than Orth's Ice Beam. It seemed certain to everyone, the crowd, Wren, even Ryan that it was over. Orth was struggling to muster everything it could but it was only slowing the Hyper Beam down, its arrival was all but inevitable. People even put down their self made 'Team Snagem' posters as it looked like it was a wrap.

That was until something clicked in Orth. He could feel a new energy, bubbling up inside of him. It was the energy he had amassed and stored with Focus Energy, for whatever reason he was unable to draw upon it for the Hydro Pump but now, with the Kingdra finding its self facing defeat right in the face, it was able to subconsciously reach in and pull it out.

With this new found energy Orth would unload everything he had into the Ice Beam, the Hyper Beam's approach stopping suddenly. The crowd looked confused and began to murmur until the Ice Beam inched just slightly forward, barely pushing the Hyper Beam back. Drifblim would notice this and gave one last push of energy, stopping the Ice Beam's movement. Orth would not take this defeat, not today, not ever, and with one more push of its own the Ice Beam suddenly condensed and like an arrow pierced through the Hyper Beam, shattering it.

The concentrated Sniper empowered Ice Beam would slam right into the X on Drifblim and send it flying away in an explosion of ice, the balloon back slamming in the far back wall, deflating, and falling to the ground, knocked out cold.

"Cheryl is unable to battle! Team Sinnoh is out of usable Pokemon! Victory goes to Ryan and Wren of Team Snagem!" The ref declared, the crowd breaking out into roaring applause as Roto-drones turned their cameras on the Snagems, their faces, and Orth's, appearing on the jumbo screens around the stadium. Victory was finally theirs in the name of Team Snagem.

Ryan gives Orth a hug and then lets out a massive shout. What a win! He then recalls Orth and goes over to Riley and Cheryl. "That was a blast of a battle, yeah?" Ryan says with a smile, holding out his hand. He may have won, but never accuse Ryan of being a poor sport.

Wren wouldn't be able to hold back the victory shout that burst out of him when Ryan delivered the final blow to Drifblim. He'd follow his teammate's example and walked over to their opponents, extending a hand to them. "That was an excellent battle!" He assured the pair. "I was almost afraid you were going to beat us for a moment." He admitted with a smile. Something about this battle seemed to have suddenly quelled his anxiety and, for the first time in quite a while, he had genuinely enjoyed the sport of a battle. Perhaps it was the fact that the world as he knew it wasn't at stake this time?
