Desert Sand was honestly surprised he had made it past the first round. He hoped his brother would be proud of him; even if he didn't make it past this round. The light tan male gave a nod of greeting to his next opponent. A female this time. "Hello, congrats on your previous win." He was trying to make awkward small talk and put off having to do what he needed to do.

He really wasn't cut out for this sort of thing; these events only made him realize it more and more. What would his brother do? Go right in for it without any hesitation. Sand worked his nerve up and went in for a bite with a rather great deal of reluctance that was without a doubt quite obvious.

The rogue direwolf watched her new opponent before her with a stern and stoic face. She had taken the time between the duels to rest her injuries but didn't seem particularly interested in watching the other duels. To be honest, she was just here to get a good fight in--maybe get some steam out of her system--and wasn't particularly interested in the overall results.

Fire watched the sand-colored wolf with tactical interest. She didn't respond to his statement--his awkward small talk--only watching and waiting for his strike.

When it came, Fire did her best to shift out of the way of his bite. She felt the rush of air as Desert Sand moved by at her side, then changed direction and attempted to shove into him to knock him off balance.

Desert Sand felt his fangs close on empty air and knew he'd cleanly missed the female. It made him feel a little better at least. She hadn't responded to his initial overtures, so he figured she wouldn't respond to anything else he had to say. At least he'd tried to be cordial to her.

Her shoulder contacted his side and he felt her attempting to shove him. His paws seemed to move under their own direction as he felt himself move with the she-wolf and retain his balance. As soon as he stopped moving, he gathered his paws under him and lunged at her. Sand put his head down to ram her side.

Fire felt the form of the other wolf shift with hers and grit her teeth as she felt her strike fail to make contact. Doing her best not to let her frustration affect her movements, the she-wolf stopped her paws beneath her and changed direction once more.

Her last opponent had been a bulking berserker, powerful but slow. This one was different. Clearly, she had to change tactics.

Still hoping to use her speed to her advantage, she spun towards Sand, only to be met with a heavy headbutt to her side that nearly knocked the wind from her chest. A snarl was forced from her throat as she retaliated with a downward swing of a paw aimed at the male's shoulder.

Desert Sand took the full impact with her side and felt it down his neck and body. It was a good solid hit. As he stepped back in recoil, he saw her paw come up and knew he wouldn't be able to dodge in time. The blow landed firmly on his shoulder and fair knocked almost all the breath out of him.

The tan male staggered back for a couple of breaths. Woah, she could back a whollup! He didn't have much more left in him, but he was going to make the most of it. With a surge he charged forward. At the last moment he leaped up to do a big belly flop onto the she-wolf.

As Sand recoiled for a few moments, Fire took the time to regain her composure. From the way he had initially attacked, she hadn't expected this much from him.

It wasn't like her to underestimate an opponent, yet here she was.

So the direwolf did her best to push away the pain in her chest. The blow was pretty close to where her first opponent, the berserker, had struck her in her previous duel. That dull ache... Strange to say, but there was something that she liked about it.

Fire's brows raised as the other wolf lunged towards her. Or... she supposed she would call it a lunge? It was... quite the technique, she supposed. Instead to shying away from his strike, Fire struck forward, snapping her teeth towards his mid-air legs.

It didn't quite go exactly as planned. Desert Sand did his belly flop, but it put his legs right in easy snapping distance. Before he could get up, she placed several well placed blows on his legs. That was it, he was done. He had no more fight in him.

Sand flagged his tail in surrender. "Well done. Congratulations."
