Moonlight stood quietly next to a large pond. The light of the moon was at its brightest, full and white. It filtered through the leaves of the willow tree he stood beside, creating dancing spots of light around him. It glimmered on the calm water surface with only the small greenish lights of firebugs as a distraction. The stallion had seen a lot in his life so far, it shown on his face and how he carried himself. There was a hint of sadness deep in his eyes. His brother had found his soul partner and Moonlight hadn't heard from him in months. They had left their last home when things had grown risky. It was chaotic. Rage and confusion made everyone act out. The brothers left quickly in the night and stayed together for some time.

He shifted a hoof from the ground and let out a breathy sigh. It was so peaceful now that he was growing bored. When he didn't move he seemed to disappear amongst the dark scenery under the shade of the tree. Stepping over a large out stretching root of the tree, the dark stallion moved out into that light to move around the pond. Tail feathers brushed through the low grass making a soft noise as he walked. His gaze fixated on the water as his mind wandered through his memory. Secretly recalling snippets of someone from his past.

The night was always Regalian's favorite time; the best time to be masked in the darkness away from prying eyes and so he made it a habit to do most of his travels under the light of the moon for his guidance. He had another unsuccessful visit with his son, the two never had much to talk about and because of his weary behavior they never bonded. It was a shame, all because of his past tormenting him that kept him distant with others. He was lucky that his sister had left long before him, the two could rekindle a hate for their royal bloodline and weep for their youngest brother who now bears the crown.

He dare not think of his past love and what she must have gone through; he still can recall her blood smeared about.

As he flew he began to tire and a need for water drove him to lower down into a quiet forest he often frequented.

Regalian found his usual spot not to be empty like most times he's passed; the night was usually a time for sleep for most and seeing a stallion with bits of armor glistening under the moonlight made him weary.

His neck bent to draw his head close to the edge of the pond. Taking a long drink of water. The surface rippled out from his muzzle until the little curls of water were wide and faded to calm again. He had lifted his head by the time he noticed the sound of wings somewhere nearby. The stallion didn't tense or show any worry, standing calmly as he glanced around. Many trees surrounded the pond and if he wasn't careful could be ambushed from any direction save for in front.

Typically wearing even bits of armor made others hesitate from confrontation. It didn't stop the curious however. A light breeze rustled the ends of his mane and he still looked calm and collected. "Not fair to stare where you are unseen" he spoke aloud to the open for anyone in earshot to catch. Whether it drew them out was to remain up to them. If they didn't want to engage he would go back to his wandering.

Regalian froze in place when he heard an unfamiliar voice, he cussed in his head for being careless. He had doubts that it could be anyone in connection to his past, but there was always a small chance it could be someone that was tied to it.

The angeni gathered his courage and rose his head high before walking out from the darkness, his blue eyes landed on the stallion by the pond. He wore his mask of no expression, thinking it best to show no emotion. He gave the armored stallion a light nod.

"I apologize, I rarely see anyone by the pond so late in the night."

Moonlight's ears swiveled in the direction of new movement until he could spot the other stallion emerging from the shadows. Ah so it was another who enjoyed the night, he thought. The idea brought him amusement as usually the nights were rather quiet around here save the typical night creatures smaller then him.

Out of habit, the armored stallion bent his head in a bow in greeting. "No need for apologies tonight. Except for mine, I must have startled you. I will be on my way soon." Standing still with the moon shining down upon them, the starry coloration on the male's coat took on a hallucination of movement. As if those where the stars themselves. There was plenty of room to move around him and he made no motion towards the other. "I enjoy the clear nights the most." he commented idly with his head tilted back to look up at the sky.
