Luana had never really felt sad or heavy but tonight as her hooves tread over the rough swampy terrain she found that her head felt light and dizzy. Her train of thoughts kept fading away in to silence and the surrounding became a blur as she continued to forget her whereabouts and why she was heading in the direction she was heading. She kept coming across the realisation that she was going home but every time she came to that conclusion her lips sank in to an anchored frown, so tense that the corners of her mouth hurt. It wasn't just her mouth that was hurting but her chest too.
She sucked in a rigid stream of breath and stopped in her tracks. It was the thick of night and lately her trips back home had been later and later in to the evening until the faint smudges of darkness had started to spread across the skies and too soon equipping the swamp with a terrifying shadow. It wasn't that the thought of returning home was filling her with dread, it was the thought that one day she may wake up and not being able to find her friend across the stream. It was a silly thought. Why wouldn't she be able to find him? He was always there and he would always be there... Wouldn't he?
She found herself becoming more uncertain as the days passed. She looked blankly ahead and then took a meek peak over her shoulder at the endless corridor of shadow looming behind her. Did he miss her... Would he miss her if they were to part ways or could no longer see each other? She wondered this and also wondered why this was suddenly becoming an issue. She shook her head at her thoughts but couldn't entirely dismiss the feeling of panic that kept washing over her.
She just stood there, unable to bring herself to move forward until eventually... It was decided. She turned on her hooves and slowly crept back the way she had came.

Corvus had spent several hours with his little bug. He had bid her a good night and offered to walk her back home as he had many times before. But she had refused and left. He had stepped out to watch the fire flies over the lake behind his home. A small frown on his face, he was worried about Luana. He wished she would let him escort her, especially today. Something had been up, he didn't know what but something had definitely upset his little bug. "I'll find her..." Not sure why but he turned to leave.
Going through his home and out the other side, starting to head along the route that she had taken. His face was stoic as ever. He should have made her go home hours ago. She was a young un-mated female, it was not done to get so close without being a mate for her. He frowned as he walked, he missed her when she was gone.
He followed her usual path, eyes scanning in the dark to locate her. He would have to let her have his home and he would sleep rough, he would not have her reputation tarnished, especially by him.

Honestly, what was he going to say? They had already bid their farewell to each other for the night not long since and here she was making her way back to his home with no idea what she would say to him when she got there. Was she sweating? She was a great pile of nerves and she couldn't understand why she was feeling this way. She could only bring herself to silently curse her mothers quizzical presumptions about their relationship being more than just a friendship. She had brainwashed her in to feeling this way... Yes, that had to be the reason behind this wild escapade. Only deep down, she knew that wasn't the case.
Every couple of steps she would pause, rethink her decision and continue to try and talk herself out of it, that there was still time to make the journey home albeit more dangerous as the night deepened but each time she found herself continuing onward again, drawing closer to the fantastically woven archway of fallen tree's and the glittering pool adorned with waterlilies and glow bugs and beside the waters edge - A picture of Corvus entered her mind, the only time since parting with him that her features finally relaxed and warmed once again.
A rustle sounded beside her, she squeaked at the noise as it broke her from her thoughts and stumbled off to the side while eyeing the shrubbery beside her. Her nostrils flared with rapid breaths as she prepared herself for what might appear from within them, thinking that it might finally be time to have to put all that gladiatorial training to use.
"Crow..?" Luana pleaded with a hopeful whisper. She may have trained with Dae to defend herself if necessarry since foalhood but it was one thing to spar with your family, while harsh and unrelenting she knew in the back of her mind that he would never truly intend to hurt her, and another thing entirely to face a foe that wouldn't care to spare a thought for what damage they might do to an unsuspecting mare wandering alone in the dead of night.
She was starting to wish she had allowed Crow to escort her home... At least he would still be with her if she had.

"Little Bug?" Emerging from a side path, having taken a different route to try to catch her up, the noise of what must have been her erratic movement had drawn him towards his home. He was pale in the growing darkness. "What is wrong have you become lost? You are heading back to my home..." It hard to see what was in his blank eyes at the best of times, in the dark it was impossible.
He moved closer, carefully lowering his head, resting his nose on her shoulder* "Easy little bug, you're safe." Not sure what had driven her back to his home, or why she had been so spooked by his arrival. Lifting his head, looking at her quietly. Waiting to see if she was ok, what she had to say or what she wanted to do.

Lu could hear her heart pounding in her ears in the moments leading up to Crow manifesting as the source of the rustling, even more so when the narrow lunar speckles danced effortlessly across his features as he made his way over to her side. She was both relieved and overwhelmed. A breath of relief escaped her and in the same instance was then caught in her throat. She warmed fiercely at his touch when he reached out to caress her shoulder while her ears twitched gently as he offered her comfort and assurance. All she wanted to do was melt in to him. Her body was shaking, she felt weak and nauseated. She wasn't lost... She had made the decision to come back here, she knew exactly what she was doing but could she really find the courage to tell him how she truly felt? What if he didn't feel the same way?
She moved her head slowly so that her vision could trace the mystery in his eyes, those eyes that continued to give nothing away. "I..." She started quietly and then loosely shook her head, offering an apologetic smile. "Thank you for coming back to check on me. I can always count on you to be there in my clumsiest of moments." She let out a nervous chuckle, narrowing her gaze away from him in order to try and hide the obvious uncertainty within them.
"Think I could stay with you tonight..?" She moved her head to carefully bury the side of her face in to his neck, unable to bring herself to find his expression she closed her eyes and waited for his response.

Corvus straightened a little as she rested her face against his neck. His hair soft as it brushes against her. The hair on his chin brushing her ears. He daren't do more, his scales were hard and spiky, as were his horns. He was not made to comfort or reassure. He carefully bent his head, giving her an awkward hug with his head and neck. Taking a moment to draw her scent into his nose, not having held her before. Closing his eyes letting himself steal this moment.
"You may stay on two conditions." His voice as soft as she had herd it before, He was usually softly spoken and not one to waste words. He hoped she accepted them because he wanted to protect her, and he wanted to know what had upset his little bug so.... Still holding her with his neck, holding her with the softest part of himself so as to not risk harming her or her delicate little wings.

The soft touch of Corvus' hair sent a shiver throughout Lu's body as it brushed by her ears. She wondered if he could feel the heat radiating from her, the pacing of her heart or her shallow breath on his skin. Would those characteristics give too much away? She fumbled with her bottom lip and held it between her teeth in thought, fighting the reflex to jump away in embarrassment and naivety. Here the two of them stood, together, finally embraced. While Crow's scales and horns may have appeared intimidating and cold from the onset, they were far from such when ones body was rested delicately against them. The tips of his scales were cool and soothing and far from uncomfortable in this moment.
"Two conditions..?" She repeated in an equally soft tone and while she didn't want to lose the feeling of being so close to him, she slowly edged backwards and tilted her head upwards so that her eyes could search his. She was curious. What would those conditions entail? This would be the first time in the entirety of their time together that she hadn't made the journey home and would be staying overnight. It wasn't fair that she had just landed this on him and understood that the idea of someone else invading his space may make him feel unease.

"Yes, two conditions." Corvus looked down at her, his blank eyes holding her still as he speaks to her. "Firstly you will take my bed, I will remain outside to make sure you are protected." His voice not accepting arguments there, he would make sure to do all he could to preserve her reputation. "Secondly I would like to know what has upset you so." His eye still a mystery but he drew her gently back in close, offering more comfort. Something had turned her round and brought her back to him. Something had had her afraid of her own shadow in the woods.
Giving her a gentle nudge with his nose he walked back to his home with her. Close by as they walked. Quiet so he could listen, Stopping as they reach the entrance to her home, offering her passage inside. She probably couldn't see the concern in his eyes. An emotion that was surprising him in himself. He looked at her quietly, unsure what had happened to his little bug.... His.... His eyes widen as it finally sinks in that at least to himself he had taken to calling her His... his little bug... What was he to make of that? His heart pattered a little, how curious....

She remained silent and focused on his eyes, firmly captivating her attention, as he outlined the conditions she would need to adhere to in order to stay with him in his home for the night. As he stated that she would sleep in 'his bed' her sunflower coloured cheeks began to glow at the mere thought until he continued on to say that he wouldn't be sharing it with her. While she couldn't openly admit that she felt a sharp stab of disappointment that he wouldn't be staying directly by her side throughout the night she could still take comfort in knowing she only had to call to him or walk a short distance in order to find him if there was ever any need.
Crow surprised her by openly declaring that he had noticed she hadn't been her self lately, evident by the widening of her eyes and the slight drop in her jaw. Stiffening at the realisation she was going to have to eventually tell him the truth on why she had so abruptly turned around and followed the beaten track back to his home, she closed her mouth and awkwardly swallowed down whatever remained of her dignity.
Nodding in agreement to the proposed conditions she gladly moved when prompted with the touch of his nose, letting her gaze linger on him before they took to analysing the ground they were about to cover. Lu savoured their closeness as they walked side by side, appreciating his efforts to console her regardless of not knowing exactly what was bothering her. She grinned at him as he stopped to let her pass through the entrance to his home first, bowing in jest to his gentlemanly approach and chuckling as she trotted ahead.
"Are you sure you're going to stay outside? Aren't you going to be cold out here all on your lonesome?" She enquired, still adorning a playful grin as she looked over her shoulder at him with a decorous swish of her tail.

Corvus looked at her, shaking his head after a moment. "It does not matter, I'll be fine, but I won't tarnish you and jeopardize you finding happiness." Frowning softly as his heart skips again, her not able to see the surprised confusion in his eyes at her question and the suggestion he share his bed with her. "Don't worry about me my little bug, a cold night won't end me. I would rather you remain above reproach and able to hold your head up high."
He lowered his head finding it hard to look at her and stick to the proper behavior, though her concern for him set butterflies loose in his stomach. Closing his eyes making himself stick to his guns, it was the best thing for her, he had to do what was best for her.
"Please little bug, I would face many things for you, but your parents are something that my courage falters before."

"Above reproach?" She questioned, taking a stride toward him. "Crow, I came back for you." She lifted a knee to touch her forehead, sighing in utter confusion as she contemplated his logic behind their sudden reunion. She lowered her leg once more and looked at him sincerely. "If not you, who else?"
She couldn't imagine anyone would treat her with the respect and devotion that Crow had done on a multitude of occasions, made solely apparent on this night having been faced with a clear opportunity to diminish her identity if that had been his original plan but it wasn't and she knew that. He cared for her and she... Cared for him. She no longer wanted to be without him.
"I am sure in time that my family, no matter what their current thoughts on our relationship are, would love you..." She stopped momentarily wondering if this was the right time to reveal this information but then stared at her potential lover with affirmation and fragility in hopes he would understand her outspoken wording "As I do."

Corvus lifted his head, his eyes opening, surprise for once clear on his face, his eyes seeking her's. MINE! The gruff voice in the back of his mind declared again. He couldn't ignore it any more. She had told him she loved him, she was his. The Kalona part of himself roared in victory. He was trying to ignore it, he had not taken her as mate yet, and he would not rush his little bug.
He leaned in, his nose lightly brushing her nose. "I am not a soft bed companion My little bug, I have scales and spikes.... But if you are sure..... We can work out for you to be comfortable." A blush showed faintly on his pale cheeks in the dim light, he had just agreed to sleep with her, though with Corvus it was in the purely platonic sense most likely. His nose leaving hers and brushing her cheek, a chaste kiss on her cheek and he was all flustered. Shifting, not sure what to do with himself, his heart was beating fast and his stomach was doing little flips.

Reigning her head in subtle agreement, Luana's eyes danced cordially along the outlines of the attributes Corvus had characterised as 'uncomfortable,' readily imagining how they might feel once pressed up against her, and while her current thoughts and feelings persuaded her that no matter what the geometry, there wasn't an ounce of him that he could possibly convince her that being entwined with him was going to be an unpleasant experience.
Luana almost wished she could whisk a fan elegantly by the side of her face and shy behind it's ruffled edge once he lipped at her cheek and they, in turn, became beat red. Her gaze once more became lulled and captivated by his pearlescent stare. Lu no longer felt the desire to speak as she lost herself in them, knowing now was the time for the two of them to retreat before this precious moment slipped away.
Edging closer, she caressed the underneath of his chin tenderly with the tip of her nose before eventually half twisting her body towards their destination and without releasing him from her touch, enticed him to follow her lead.

Corvus might as well have been a moth to her flame. She was so much smaller than him but he followed her obediently. He had never been one to follow blindly, but they were retiring for the night, their first night.... Corvus stopped, his expression intent as he looked at her, his blank eyes lifting to hers as she turned to him. "Little bug..." Stumbling over his words a little, his voice thick with feeling as she had ever heard it. "You are the moon in my sky and I will be here to worship you until life leaves my body. And on that day hopefully many seasons from now I shall wait for you on the great plain beyond until you join me there for eternity."
He was making a fool of himself, he was sure of it, the only thing keeping him from asking her to be his mate was that he was sure it was all too much for one night. But even if they only slept, he could not let her stay the night without knowing how he felt. No matter what, he was hers, and he was a possessive male. He would need to work on his faults to deserve her. But he was also a patient male, so in the end when his body became grass and his soul ran free he would wait for her. He leaned in and curled his neck a little around her, lingering over the embrace. He enjoyed the feel of her close but knew they needed to get into shelter and rest. Drawing back slowly, his cheeks a bit red, embarrassed and shy about his declaration.
