Aile would sigh with some relief as she heard Krysta muttering, though wondering what on earth she was talking about. “Well, you’re not dead, so that’s good….” She turned to the battle going on, gritting her teeth when Gray spoke up. “Right. Tati… Let’s try something new, actually. Get in close for a Boomburst!” Tatooine lingered on her trainer for a moment before flying off to try to get in close to the Shadow Metapod, taking a few hits from the butterflies in the process. The one blessing here was that Tatooine had already been cured of the Shadow Virus, so any Shadow Virus accumulated in that attack wouldn’t affect her, thank goodness. Once Tati got in close, she began to alter the vibrations of her wings, growing from a melodic hum to a loud, cacophonous shriek, hoping to pain whatever aural sensory inputs it had.

Aile, in the meantime, tried to duck and cover Krysta from the butterflies, but another sound caught her attention. “Oh merde, of course!” She’d put the girl’s arm over her shoulder and support her head as best as she could, trying to gently wake her up. “Hey, wake up there dear. Come on, sleeping off a potential concussion is not good for you…” Hopefully she could at least get Krysta to safety, if not herself. This wasn’t a great combination here, energy butterflies and falling rocks.

Krysta stirs as she tries to get to her feet and puts her arm around the nice persons shoulder. "ugh. my head is killing me. Who are you? where are we? Thank you for helping me that's nice of you. I had this dream where I saw pokemon... that are human shaped? and and a I think it was a metapod that had some kind of weiird glowy thing going on... but that can't be right. Metapod don't glow do they?" krysta moans and holds her head with her other hand. "Where is Muse? Have you seen muse? She should be around here ohh no what if she ran off..."

Odd wasn't prepared for it when that Metapod attacked. Despite Entr'Acte's level of defenses compared to a lot of other Pokemon, something about that strange Bug-energy-fueled swarm was overwhelming and left him somewhat catatonic for a bit after it hit. Despite Reno's attempts to block the move from hitting, some of the smaller constructs of energy made it through and blasted him almost directly amid all the chaos.

"Keep an eye on him! Get him out of here if you have to!" Wren called to Entr'Acte as the Aegislash hovered over his master and guarded him. Deciding that now was a good time to get away while the Metapod was focused on keeping it's own "guard" up, the Ghost-type grabbed Odd and booked it as far as he could get them, waving for Aile and the unusual passerby she was watching over to follow him as he passed between them as the rocks falling toward them, using Sacred Sword to cut the stone to pebbles so it wouldn't hurt them as it continued falling. The Ground Channeler wasn't likely to understand him if he spoke to her, so he kept quiet and hoped she got the point. If they could get some distance between them and Metapod, maybe he could get them out of this strange den and get more help?

~~~
Once Entr'Acte took off with Odd, Wren turned his attention back to the battle at hand. Carnation was Shadowfied, the opponent was a giant, apparently evolved Shadow Metapod. This was not going to go well, he was sure but there had to be some way to put a stop to this battle sooner rather than later?
Leech Seed didn't appear to have taken but maybe it had to do with the size of this thing? Maybe it just couldn't affect it at that size? "Razor Leaf!" He finally called out. It looked like everyone was doing their own thing here and that was going to make this harder to pull off, anyway. Tristen's Magmar was throwing up a cyclone of flames to entrap the enemy.Reno was sending ice flying at it and...kicking a Wynaut? If they weren't careful, they'd end up cancelling out each other's direct attacks. If they got lucky, though? The Icicle Crash would create a large enough opening for his attack to get through without disrupting the Fire Spin. That wasn't even accounting for the Flamethrower and Bullet Seed that were also flying in toward the thing.
Carnation seemed to be thinking the same things as Wren but, given her current condition, she was much more interesting in hurting the opponent and less concerned with the how. So instead of unleashing a flurry of tainted leaves, she hopped into the air and when she landed, a line of darkness shot across the ground like lightning arcing toward Metapod with wild, pulsating waves of Shadow energy erupting from the earth following not far behind the peak of the bolt of shadowy energy. The Shadow Wave was directed mainly at her opponent but it was definitely not contained so the other Snagems should probably be careful not to get hit by it, too.
~~~

Kaya would be sent sprawling fairly easily by Fluffy's powerful Hammer Arm as it connected directly with his stomach. "Oof!" He grunted as he was hit, gurgling slightly as he coughed up a spray of saliva, the wind blown out of his lungs with such violent force that he couldn't contain it. Flying off into the distance and crashing into the ground, hard, he laid still for a few moments, seemingly unconscious at first.

"Sylveee!" Serena yelped as her human was harmed, running to his side as he hit the ground. Choosing to give her partner cover until he regained consciousness, she'd tap three Moon Balls on his waist and release some of her comrades. Darien the Dunsparce, Makoto the Leavanny and Pluto the Klefki all appeared together. A few yips and barks to the trio from Serena to relay the situation was all it would take before they split up. Pluto stuck close to Serena and Kaya before his keys glowed and the energy building in them shattered, sending cantrips of energy flying toward Fluffy in the form of Spikes. Beyond that, he was here to use defensive maneuvers with Serena and defend Kaya.

Darien separated from Makoto a bit and used Air Slash to distract Fluffy a bit with the blades of Flying energy. The somewhat haphazard spray of blades would have one definitely good result even if it didn't do it's job properly: It managed to hit the ground somewhere between the Shadow Caterpie and it's attempts as snaking threads toward one of Ryan's Pokemon, hopefully cutting through it in the process.

Makoto would simply whip up a whirlwind directly around her for the moment, preparing for her signature mode of attack.

~~~
Lykas knew the dangers here but with Fluffy being who she was, he didn't want to risk hurting her unnecessarily. She was Abby's Pokemon, after all, and this was clearly the work of a puppetmaster. Fluffy's movements were too jerky to be made by choice, after all.
With everyone else working to knock Caterpie loose and free the Bewear from it's hold, he chose a different route. Holding a Master Ball in his hand, he contemplated whether it was worth the risk of using it. Fluffy was incredibly strong, after all. But Delmare might not be protected from the Shadow Virus the way some Pokemon seemed to be so was it really worth it?
He was about to find out. Popping the ball open, the Keldeo spawned in the Wild Area as the crimson light poured out. "Delmare, hang back and use Reflect to protect everyone for now." He told the Keldeo from his perch on Genevieve's back. "And you? Use Spider Web. See if you can snare Caterpie's pod and pull it free from Fluffy's back. Maybe if we can separate them, she'll come to her senses?" He suggested to the Araquanid beneath him, patting his back softly as he watched for the chance to strike. The moment he thought Fluffy was in a good position to make the attempt, he'd point and call out. "Now!"
[Shadow Metapod: Power Spot Den]
Rhyme's Altaria began to glow, charging up the large amount of energy it needed to pull off its commanded move. The butterflies, as if having a mind of their own or perhaps by sheer unlucky odds, appeared to come down upon Altaria in increased number, thus putting the Sky Attack's charge-up phase at risk. Aria however would be spared the maleficent butterflies Reno had kicked his own Pokemon in to intercept the energy constructs, Harleen's own little body used as a shield. However, it was a Wynaut, and it would do what Wynaut did and sent numerous butterflies back towards the giant Metapod. The redirected butterflies would join Mr. Mew's Bullet Seed in pelting the Metapod's energy shield repeatedly, hoping to put a crack in it. Meanwhile Tensei bid its time for the perfect opening while Tristen's Magmar slowly, but surely, began to form a wide, but not very tall due to the sheer size of its target, Fire Spin around the Shadow Metapod.
With Ulla saved by her adopted parents the young girl would regain her composure just in time to command her own Vulpix in joining Magmar's fire vortex conjuring as the tiny fox unleashed a Flamethrower into the building ring of fire. The vortex growing upward by the second.
While the shield seemed be holding in spite of the flames sweeping at its base and the repeated concentrated assault higher up it would not hold up for too much longer as Wren and Aile had their Pokemon deliver two quick and powerful hits on either end. The Boomburst went off and rocked the very foundation of the shield, and most importantly gave the conjurer of it, Shadow Metapod, a brain rattling impact of sound which certainly prevented it from retaliating in time to stop them. This moment of weakness would prove to be vital as the Shadow Wave hit the bottom of the shield, the shield having already directed a majority of its energy towards the bottom to resist the Fire Spin and now the powerful Shadow move caused it to direct more, thus leaving the top vulnerable.
The last of the redirected butteflies and Bullet Seed would connect in this moment and actually leave behind a small crack in the weak upper portion of the shield. This was Tensei's chance and the Cloyster would take it as it fired off its Icicle Spear, the frozen spike piercing right through the crack, shattering the entire construct like glass and said spike stabbing into the Shadow Metapod's shell, directly above its eye. With the shield gone the Fire Spin began to consume the Shadow Metapod's lower half, causing it to moan in pain, it was clear that losing its shield caused it to weaken considerably and now with the flames directly brushing up against its body it wasn't feeling too kosher. It was desperate now as even at this size that Fire Spin would surely spell its end in time.
As it to mimic Wren's own Shadow Pokemon the heavily weakened Shadow Metapod unleashed a massive Shadow Wave, the wave of Shadow energy sweeping across the ground towards all Snagems and their Pokemon there. It was at this same moment where the shield slowly began to reform its self, slower than last time but in just a few seconds, seconds where the Snagems would be too concerned about the Shadow Wave, it would be reformed. However, there was one Pokemon that had the energy and set up prepared to strike now and put an end to this.
It was up to Aria the Altaria to fly through the Fire Spin around the giant Metapod and deliver its Sky Attack and put this thing down once and for all.
(I'll let Nami post the finishing blow. If any of you before then just want to post something, such as trying to protect from the Shadow Wave or perhaps do something to aid Aria in her coming Sky Attack go ahead, otherwise we'll wait for Nami to post.)
[Shadow Caterpie: Dappled Grove]
Fluffy finally freed its self from Chi's grip but it wasn't soon enough, two Water Pulses hit it from either side causing it to stumble followed by an Ice Beam that blasted it in its midsection, the ice quickly spreading downward and freezing it to the ground. In that moment it was a sitting duck for Angela who delivered a fierce Brick Break which shattered the ice and while freezing Fluffy it still delivered some painful damage. In this same moment dangerous Spikes were scattered around Fluffy by Pluto, reducing its mobility considerably.
With Fluffy distracted they made their move on the Shadow Caterpie, its sneak attack with the String Shot ended as an Air Slash sliced up the shadowy string and Leon's Rookidee swooping in once more to Peck away at the silky cocoon containing the Shadow Caterpie, breaking several of the strings that attached it to Fluffy. Apparently the little bird weakened the grip just enough as a Spider Web was thrown out and flawlessly encapsuled the cocoon. With one hard pull by the Araquanid the cocoon, and Shadow Caterpie inside, was snatched clean off of Fluffy and hit the ground rolling, landing several feet away from the bear, Genevieve's attachment to it broken in the same moment it pulled off the silken pod.
Inside the cocoon the tiny Shadow Pokemon's anger reached a boiling point of no return. Crying out from inside the cocoon now on the ground the worm unleashed a wide range Shadow Hold in the form of a wave of oppressive Shadow energy which washed across the land and threatened to bear down on the Snagems and their Pokemon with considerable force and vile sensations, as if gravity was increased tremendously and their hearts filled with dread to render them immobile. Delmare's Reflect however would not save them, had it been a Light Screen perhaps things would be different, though perhaps considering the lead up to this moment no one anticipated a more special inclined attack.
With the Shadow Caterpie no longer in physical contact with Fluffy it remained to be seen if the Bewear was free of its influence, or even shadowfied its self and for that matter who knew if anyone else was about to be shadowfied. If anyone was things might turn ugly and fast, the only way to end this before the Shadow Hold turned them all and left the others as immobile targets was to put an end to the Shadow Caterpie once and for all. It looked like it was up to Makoto to unleash its attack and hope its aim was true.
[Shadowfication roll for Shadow Caterpie fight.]
Five die will be rolled and five numbers generated. The numbers will be assigned sequentially for the following Pokemon:
1.)Fluffy (Bewear)
2.)Darien (Dunsparce)
3.)Rookidee
4.)Theia (Milotic)
5.)Genevieve (Aquaranid)
If the result for any one number is 1 or 2 then that Pokemon is now shadowfied. If the total result is 50 (all 10s) then all Pokemon are shadowfied. Any shadowfied Pokemon will immediately begin to attack their trainer and others.
This was what teamwork looked like. Raimu blocked what she could of the butterflies...that didn't come because Reno had her back. And the others too--as Mr. Mew was finishing his bullet seed attack the Metapod was raring one more blow. She just barely manages to scoop him up in time as the wave hits them, but she's so close to the ground, too close...
"NOW, ARIA!!"
The Altaria needs no words further as its attack completely charged up, the fluffy beast gone in a blur of fiery light, creating a spectacular display as it easily passed through the firespin, leaving a trail behind it to show its pathway as the bird slams into the Shadow Pokemon with all intents to knock it out in...what could only be described as a blaze of glory.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 26, 2020 2:33 pm
In a blaze of glory, cloaked in fiery energy, Aria launched off the ground and like a blur pierced through the Fire Spin so fast that the only sign of her course was the parting of the flames. The next time Aria the Altaria would be seen was fluttering on the other side of the giant Shadow Metapod, winded and exhausted but unscathed. The gargantuan Pokemon however was not. The large icicle that was embedded in its shell was gone and in its place was a clean hole, those on the ground able to see Altaria on the other side through it.
As the Shadow Wave ended and the vile energy passed over the Snagems would witness the end result of Aria's attack and the giant Shadow Metapod just resting in place, completely still and emotionless like a Metapod should be, except this one had a hole in it.
Without any further warning the enormous Metapod slowly tipped towards the Snagems until gravity kicked in and picked up the pace, the enormous creature falling down towards the vulnerable Snagems, threatening to squish them with nowhere else to go. As the shadow of the Metapod cast over them and signaled their doom a flash of light would go off just when it looked like it would flatten them.
Once the blinding light cleared the Snagems would realize they hadn't been crushed and turned into Stunfisk, instead the once towering Shadow Metapod had reverted back to its normal two feet in length and laid on the ground completely knocked out with just a tiny little hole in its shell, not big enough to be life threatening. They could still register the Shadow energy coming from it but for now it would threaten no one.
With the massive Pokemon defeated the swirling storm of energy above them had dissipated and the pillar of red energy shooting up into the sky as well, the Snagems on the outside now able to check on their teammates at the bottom of the pit. The 'raid' was over.
Tristen watched as Aria laid waste to the massive Shadow Metapod, reassuring him that despite Rhyme's seemingly poor condition she was seeming to show, she still could very well take care of herself. Or at the very least, her Pokemon being pretty capable. Though, that reprieve would quickly go away when a wave of confusion hit both Tristen and his Magmar. The Metapod...shrunk? What was going on here? Tristen then approached, albeit slowly towards the fallen bug, staring in confusion. It still reeked of that Shadow influence, but it was for all intents and purposes taken down. "Uh...is...someone going to take this thing?" Tristen asked. "I don't think it'd be a good idea to leave it here."
Meanwhile back up above, the strange geyser of energy...or whatever the heck it was finally went away. Freth and I was with everyone else trying to figure out what was going on with this whole area, but with the energy gone, we could finally approach. Better still, that energy spike wasn't screwing with my senses any longer, at least, not anywhere near as bad as it was and I could sense out presences down below. "Tristen!? Tristen!? You down there!?"
"Blizz! We're all fine! You're not going to believe what just happened down here!" The Manetric hybrid called back. I couldn't help but to sigh in relief myself, nearly collapsing to my knees over that. Whatever. Major victory here. Everyone was okay.
"Alright, hang on, everyone here will get you all out. Sit tight!" As I start to go off to help everyone get everyone out of this...well? Den? Something or other, I couldn't really help but ask. "Just what the hell is this place?"
By the time Veroncia returned to her senses and returned her pokemon back, the threat had been neutralized. "What did I miss?" she whispered to herself, wandering about. "Great. So where were we before this silly bug?" She grinned, speaking up louder in hopes to get out of the bothersome sun sooner than later.
With Metapod no longer threatening anyone, we could all breathe a sigh of relief. As I moved to check if Ulla was okay, I saw Keiko hugging her, which wasn't surprising. "I'm glad you're okay," I said to my adoptive daughter with a smile. I couldn't help but notice that the sensation that came with the presence of a Shadow Pokemon wasn't gone entirely. While Metapod didn't seem to be providing much of a presence anymore, there was another source. "I don't think our job is done yet, though," I mentioned, turning my gaze toward where I could sense said corrupted energy.
Abby moved to immediately recall Fluffy, but the Shadow Hold held her tight, making her unable to do anything. As the intense feeling of dread coursed through her body, she grit her teeth, her free hand latching on to the Determination shirt she was wearing - the one she got from her father. With that, she began slowly standing up. She wasn't about to let some infected insect make her feel afraid. She was a Deathrage, after all. Using all of her willpower, she held Fluffy's ball forward and forcibly reclaimed the Bewear. She could fix its infection later if she indeed was. For now, she had a bug to burn. "Angie! Flamethrower!" she shouted. Her Combusken, however, didn't have her intense willpower, however, and was rooted to the spot due to Shadow Hold. She wasn't going anywhere. Abby could only hope that Broly and Paladia were far enough away that they wouldn't get infected as well.
Wren couldn't help but to grunt in a combination of surprise and terror for a brief instant when Rhyme's Altaria delivered the final blow to the massive, infected insect towering over them all. As it came to a stop and began teetering in place, preparing to crash down upon them all, his hands shot into the air, though he stopped just short of instinctively summoning the thicket of defensive vines he'd come to rely on ever since he'd met up with this group. The explosion of light coming from the giant Bug blinded him momentarily being the primary reason he was stopped. He couldn't see when the time to call the vines would be. Thankfully, when the light cleared and he could see again, he discovered they all lived. How was anyone's guess at the moment but he wasn't going to look a gift Zebstrika in the mouth and began to relax slightly as he recalled Carnation to her Ball. When Tristen asked if anyone planned to catch the Metapod, he shook his head despondently. "I would if I had anything other than a Nest Ball on me but I'm fairly certain, Bug-type or not, that it wouldn't work on this one. They work best on completely unevolved Pokemon, in my experience." He told the young Manectric hybrid, almost thankful that Carnation was already afflicted by the Shadow Virus after Metapod's last attempt to fight them off, reminded as he looked at it and his anxiety reminded him that it was still infected.
~~~

Odd would still be unconscious with his Aegislash attempting to figure out how to get them all out of this cavern. He was able to carry one or two of them, himself, but that was about as far as it would go unless everyone was willing to wait while he moved back and forth. The Shadow Wave from Metapod didn't affect him thanks to being purified of the virus by Zygarde back in Alola.

~~~
Kaya remained unconscious for a few minutes longer as Caterpie was cut free and used it's Shadow Hold to try and trap it's enemies, waking up just as the attack went through. He was able to quickly recall Pluto and Serena who were right beside him before it reached them but Darien and Makoto were too far away, engulfed by the vile energy before he could retrieve the Moon Balls they were contained in during travel. Fortunately, neither seemed to be too affected by the viral energy and Makoto's Razor Wind was unleashed as per usual, a flurry of Normal-type blades of energy flying through the air like a whirlwind aimed at the cocooned worm.
"Unlock!" Kaya exclaimed as he stood up and released a wave of Fairy energy from his own body meant to counter the Shadow Hold. The vile energy certainly held the others firmly for the moment but this? Maybe he could flip the typical use of Fairy Lock to break it's hold with the whimsical energies of the fae? Other than his Leavanny's attack, what else could he do for the moment?
~~~

Lykas moved fast when Delmare used his move. "That was way too close!" He told himself as he watched the crimson beam of light completely withdraw into the Master Ball just barely ahead of the wave of viral energy projecting the Shadow Hold toward them.

"Ara...."

"Genevieve?" Lykas asked, patting his arachnid warhorse on the side, trying to gain his focus. ""Genevieve, are you alright?" He inquired, leaning over to look a bit more closely and hear the water spider's reply.

"Ara.. quanid!" Genevieve responded as he bucked up onto his rearmost legs, most likely throwing Abby off and onto the ground as he did. Lykas wound his tentacles around the spider's body in an attempt to hold onto it as the eight-legged steed began to buck and thrash around. "Araqua! Aquaraqua!" The beast exclaimed as it finally managed to hurl Lykas free, instantly charging directly into a Shadow Rush aimed to crush the aerial hybrid between himself and the tree on the other side of him.

"Sorry, buddy..." Lykas bemoaned his Pokemon's inevitable fate here before taking a deep breath and exhaling an Icy Wind aimed directly at the Water Bubble Pokemon's head. The frigid gust quickly began to turn the Pokemon's terrestrial "diving helmet" into an icy slush, slowly suffocating it until it passed out, right about the time it slammed Lykas into the tree and took the combined damage from the wild headbutt into the tree and the recoil of it's own attack. The hybrid's body "exploded" in a spray of water via Acid Armor at the moment of impact but, fortunately, quickly reformed. "Ok. Never doing that again. That ~/~ hurt!" The hybrid screamed as he recalled the knocked out Araquanid to his ball. "I thought Acid Armor was supposed to prevent stuff like that from happening..." He groaned as he held a hand to his chest, roughly the location Genevieve had made contact when he'd been hit by that Shadow Rush.

Reno would look on as Harleen perfectly intercepted the attack on Rhyme's Altaria, slightly smug with his accuracy on that particular kick. And also thankful that Harleen was used to being jostled around like that from being around him. That smugness would last on through his watching the Altaria punch through the Metapod, the attack devastating the now vulnerable Pokemon. And when it began to slowly teeter over in what appeared to be a bid to crush them all to death, Reno finally began to lose his smugness and brace for the inevitable bone crushing impact. So naturally, Reno closed his eyes to prepare for inevitable fate as a smear. Which...seemed to be taking longer than expected.

Like........

A looooooooooottttttt longer.

Finally taking the hint to open his eyes, Reno would see the Metapod was now normal sized and had a mild pinhole through it at this scale. Well....at least it seemed like inevitable disaster had been averted this time. Again.

Tatooine would watch the Metapod as its shields dropped, waiting for some sort of retaliation. Once she felt the Shadow energy building, she would dart back over to Aile and her self imposed charge, coming in to block the Shadow Wave for them. Once it had passed, the Flygon staggered forward, shuddering as she felt the energy pass around her.

"Tati! Are you okay? will you be able to get us out of here?" Tati turned to her trainer and nodded, looking at the both of them. "Good, and thank you. You did a- oh dear." Aile braced for impact as the Metapod came down.... only to not be squashed. Aile opened one of her eyes to see that the Metapod had shrunk back to its normal size before falling, with the trainer letting out a long sigh of relief. "Okay...." She turned to Krysta, who had began to play twenty questions before the Shadow Wave. "Now that we're not in imminent danger of being killed or injured in some way.... To start, you can call me Aile, and we're in some sort of weird cave that opened up after a bright red beam burst out from the ground. Aside from actual Pokémon that look like humans, there's ones known as hybrids, those with both human and Pokémon DNA. Those kinds of people are who you've seen. You aren't hallucinating. Also, no, Metapod don't glow, but they also don't grow to be about, what, 18 meters or so? Oh wait, I suppose Dynamax is a thing. Compensating for not having access to Mega Stones, I suppose." Aile shrugged at her remark before shaking her head. "Anyways, as for your Muse... I'm not even sure what I'm supposed to be looking for. You were all alone when I found you...." Aile looked up at the mouth of the cave above them, tilting her head. "Would it be possible she didn't wind up down here?"

Krysta holds her head trying to fight off a headache and trying to process all the things she has seen.. "Its not unusual for pokemon to dynamax in galar. there is a long story behind it and I would be happy to discuss it with you over tea... somewhere safer and those with both human AND DNA? How is that even possible.... and what is a mega stone? and Muse? muse is my stunky. she is my best friend. she has been with me since I was little. Omg where is she?! MUSE? MUSE?! Where are you?!" Krysta pulls away from aile and starts running towards the entrance ignoring any danger while calling out for muse."

Mean While above the cavern Muse stands guard over krysta's bike growling at the strange blue creature that some how smells both like pokemon and human at the same time. Muse doesn't make a move to attack simply hides just behind the back wheel of the bike while growling softly.

"Not sure." Sub replied to Blizzard as he finally arrived on scene, covered in leaves stuck to him by what appeared to be strands of sticky silk. Apparently he found some Caterpie but not the ones they originally were looking for. Looking down into the hole he popped open a Dusk Ball, releasing Valdemar the Hydreigon, which of whom he jump on its back and rode the Pokemon down into the now open pit of a former cave. Before he could check on the others he spotted the Shadow Metapod at the far end of the den. It was knocked out and its energy signature was weak but it was easy enough to register that vile energy coming from it. That was definitely the one they were looking for.

Hearing Tristen and seeing as no one else was going to catch it the Snagem leader shrugged and took out an old Pokeball and halfheartedly dropped it on the Metapod, the device popping open and then proceeding to suck the Shadow Pokemon inside. Once the ball hit the ground it shook once and stopped, the Metapod not having the energy to resist capture. Picking the ball up he promptly stuffed it in his backpack for later. He would have GRAY run some tests on it, seeing how it was capable of evolving when typically that was impossible for Shadow Pokemon.

"So, everyone in one piece? Anyone need a lift out?" He asked, his Hydreigon giving a roar as if to let them know he was nearby and ready to carry anyone up and out of this pit. As intimidating of a dragon as he was Valdemar was relatively chill and tame, until needed otherwise.

Before there could be anymore celebration a strange drone-like orange flying device whizzed over Blizzard's head and began to hover above the middle of the pit. Blizzard and anyone else up top would get the best look at it, the strange contraption resembling a Rotom that had possessed a machine but this one was not like any others they had even encountered. The strange Rotom control device appeared to have a camera lens on it which was pointed down at the Snagems below, the lens extending out as if to zoom in on them.

"And there you have it folks!" A voice boomed from speakers unseen. Why there would be speakers out here was anyone's guess. "Give it up for Team Snagem and their first Dynamax encounter! We would expect no less from the slayer of shadows, the defenders of the world! That concludes the exhibition match for the opening ceremony of the World Champion Cup! Thank you Team Snagem for that splendid show you put on for us! Give them a round of applause! We can't wait to see all of you in person soon at Motostoke Stadium!" The voice declared followed by what sounded like roaring applause, microphoned in from the packed stadium where their entire fight with Shadow Metapod was clearly being watched. What was going on? Was this a set up all along or something else? For once even Sub looked like he had no clue.

"What the...exhibition match!? Was this set up? Did someone really drop a Shadow Pokemon into the wilderness and lead us here to put on a show!?" Sub shouted, for once taken aback that someone, besides him, had tricked them and led them by the nose. This tournament was off to a hell of a start. "Oh Darkrai no! GRAY! Where is Motostoke Stadium!?" He shouted, not bothering to take his SNAG out to speak to the AI, who most certainly heard his yelling.

"Motostoke. See the walls on the horizon due north of your location? That is Motostoke." GRAY explained.

With a nod he turned towards Aile and the stranger with her. He had overheard her speaking to Aile and it appeared she was a native of this region. "You. We need a guide. Help me find whose a** I have to kick in this region." He called out to Krysta. Without another word Sub jumped back on Valdemar's back, along with anyone else who needed a ride, and quickly made his way out of that 'den'. Once out he recalled the Hydreigon and snatched his hoverboard out and onto the ground, jumping on it and making a beeline straight for Motostoke.

Looks like it was time to head to Motostoke and begin the World Champion Cup, finally, for better or worse.

Kaya's wave of Fairy energy was just enough to briefly ward off the Shadow Hold long enough for Makoto's Razor Wind, the blades of flying energy slicing up the Caterpie and despite getting knocked out and cut up the little worm still managed to stay conscious with its face down in the dirt, this was evident by the fact that the Shadow Hold wasn't going away and Kaya was losing the struggle against it. Maybe with a bit more practice the hybrid would be able to better fight against Shadow energy now that he knew it was possible but for now he could only do so much.

Despite the Shadow Hold growing more intense again Abby of all people was able to fight against its oppression by sheer willpower alone, not that she could do anything to dispel the Shadow Hold, not alone. Something in that moment clicked however, for a brief moment Abby could feel a burning sensation deep inside her chest. It felt like a foreign presence inside her, however very familiar and benevolent, at least to her. Her Combusken could feel the same but did not have the means to communicate it. It was in this moment that Angie could feel Abby's immense willpower, her spirit adding fuel to the Combusken's own inner flame and giving it the strength needed to push against the Shadow Hold.

Slowly but surely Angie could be able to stand up and move just enough thanks to Abby's will and would carry out the commanded Flamethrower, the flames washing over the vulnerable Shadow Caterpie. Before the stream of fire ceased the Shadow Hold dispelled in a flash to signify that the Shadow Caterpie was immediately knocked out the moment the fire made contact. Was it was all over the helpless little charred bug was on its back on the ground, curled up and knocked out for a good long time. It was finally over.

"One of you should probably catch that, at least for now." GRAY commented from their SNAGs. "And by the way. Dear leader is making an angry rush for a city north of here called Motostoke. Might be a good idea to join up with him and the others before he kills someone. Just look for the walled city due north, can't miss it." He informed them further.

I went to aid the others in getting out of the den, but as I done so...there was...something rancid nearby. I could smell it...it smelled...kind of like...

I turned my head, seeing a Stunky nearby, giving the most stunned stare at me as if I was virtually an alien in this world. "...please don't spray." So, those are here too, huh? God, those things make traveling Sinnoh a bit worrisome. Turn a corner one moment then find yourself taking any home remedy at the nearest Pokemon Center to get the smell off.

I would quickly find myself distracted, whipping my head back, seeing the drone hover. "The hell...?" With the exposition out of the way, I had the same notion as Sub. "Don't these people know they could have caused an outright pandemic with just one of these things!? We went through a whole ordeal that spanned the better part of a few years dealing with this!"

"If they had this Shadow Metapod around, who is to say they didn't have any others in store somewhere." Freth commented.

"Sub, lead the way. We got to n** this in the bud."
