The Performers of the Moonlight Revival

There's a legend that circles through the tribe, passed down through the families from parents to children, grandparents to grandchildren of The Great Puma. In this story an ancient leader of this tribe falls in love with a puma who becomes the moon when she dies in childbirth. Upon her death bed she grants the tribe with the gift of reincarnation, that in the time of the solstices she would choose someone of her tribe or family to be reincarnated if they impressed her.

The Great Puma, in his despair, made 9 trials for the pumas of the tribe to complete before they can be chosen to receive his mates gift. With each trial completed it is believed that the pumas life extends, therefore giving them more time to be reincarnated in the grace of her moonlight.

Pumas with white markings are said to be descendants of the Moon and are given special privileges. The leader of the tribe gives up their chance at reincarnation, instead opting to help lead others in achieving their own and choosing those who get the chance. The bulk of the tribe, also known as The Performers, compete against each other to make their names known to the Mother Moon whether it be good or bad: doesn't matter what you do to impress the Mother Moon, you can be chosen for murder or saving the life of a litter of cubs.

Hi! Welcome to the Performers of the Moonlight Revival, a Puma tribe in the world of Kells! This tribe was loosely based off of the events of Cats: The Musical and then turned into something we were all excited and happy to be apart of.

Thank you for visiting and taking an interest in this group effort, and may the Moon Mother choose you!

History/Lore

Legend has it that when the ground was cold and the night sky was dark to almost pitch, there was once a leader. His name has been forgotten over time, but to us he is known as "The Great Puma," and his story is our beginning. This Great Puma's story is like any other: filled with love, death, and hope, but his story is the beginning of our dynasty. It will be this story that I will be telling you.

The Great Puma was a fierce cat, he was the best of his tribe: an excellent defender and provider for his pride. He was loved by all, but sadly he had never felt content with the love of his fellow pumas. He wished for a mate, somebody to help by his side, to ease him after the hard days of being a leader during the prides most trying time.

One day, a puma with a pure white almost shimmering coat joined, and she caught the Great Pumas eye. It was love at first sight for him, and the day she laid her pale eyes upon him after years of effort, she reciprocated. The two were inseparable afterwards, so devoted to one another that they were a perfect unit and the couple brought the tribe back to a wonderful glory.

At the prides peak, the pale shimmering puma expected cubs. Arrangements were made to make sure nothing bad could ever happen, but there's only so much one tribe can control. When it became time for her to birth she had gotten sick, very sick, and no one knows why.

The birthering den for the couple was layered in soft pelts and protection charms, runes etched into the floors and walls to assist in her pregnancy. The hope that the magic could make her survive such a difficult time for her body. There was no such luck. When the time was about to come she had her mate come closer and she stated to him:

"In my death, I give life and with all my power I will continue. For our legacy and for our tribe, every solstice I will choose one follower upon the end of their nine lives to live again and see us prosper."

In her last moments she gazed upon her cubs, all different in black and white colors, some mostly solid, some striped, and some spotted. And as a flash of light quickly appeared through the cracks of the den then settled, taking the puma with it.

When the Great Puma came out of the den to announce the news, everyone was looking towards the sky. He looked up to see that in one of the biggest cracks exposing the tribe to the outside showing the clouds moving to where the moon appeared, for the first time, sparkling like the coat of his mate and soft like her eyes.

Though the tribe continued, the Great Puma lived in anguish. The children were loved by all for their white markings, except for one: their fur was completely and solidly black like their father, and the only thing that had saved them from exile was that their eyes were as pale as their mothers.

The Great Puma started the trials, nine in all for every life they lived, and nine chances to impress his mate now residing in the sky. Those who won and passed the final trial were the ones chosen to be seen again with her gift of reincarnation.

The Show Must Go On

The Moonlight Revival is at the lowest it has been in it's history since the legend of The Great Puma: numbers are few, food was hard to come by, and it was getting harder to become chosen. When Hostile Citrine Light stepped up to Tribe Leader, she didn't know what to do. The only thing she knows for certain is that she needs to build her families tribe back up, but that leads the question as to how?

She worked with the other Pumas to get food and supplies at a sustainable rate, and with this the current members are once again healthy enough to continue doing trials and attempting to receive her great grandmothers blessing. The next step is to get numbers higher, to bring more pumas into the revivals traditions. It's the only way to make sure the show must go on.

---
Hostile Citrine Light is looking for more members for the tribe, and that means she needs more resources so sustain more numbers. At this time, anybody is welcome to join, and if you bring in some ties that could help the tribe thrive even better. This is a time for alliances, trade, and growth.

Homeland and Landmarks

The Revival's main living space is in the severe ruins of a large stone fort or castle that's partially underground in the northern Waylands. The area outside is surrounded in dense foliage and the tree canopy is so thick that it's nearly impossible see through. It can get fairly cold in their location, so any personal home is usually covered in pelts and natural insulates.

Moonlight Point:
A large clearing in the middle of the Revival's homelands, surrounded by alleys and the home's of the creature's who choose to live within the tribe grounds. It was possibly a court yard at some point a large stone, what could have been fountain, sits overgrown and gleaming where moonlight hits in the center: this is where the Tribe Leader speaks.

The Alleys:
The alleys are long walkways throughout the ruins centered around the Moonlight Point. They are usually where you will see another creature moving from one place to another, and are hubs for interactions.

The Den of The Great Puma:
Behind the Moonlight Point is the entrance to what is said to be the Great Puma's den. This is a sacred place, and you can only enter with the Tribe Leaders permission. Though the den it's self, once beautiful and fit for a king, is collapsed by time and nature what it leads to further in is the true wonder.

Mother Moon's Birthing Den:
The birthing den of the Mother Moon is hidden through a passage from the Great Puma's den. This area is covered floor to ceiling in almost luminescent markings of spells, runes, chants, and charms. There is no blank space between each marking and though you suspect them to get messed up by walking over some, none are ever smudged. There is a pile of old furs in a corner, presumably where the Mother Moon had passed away. The place is surprisingly clean for the only reason creatures enter anymore is to participate in blood sacrifice by escort.

Culture and Traditions

Culture

The performers of the tribe are competitive in nature, but more importantly they are extravagant and showy. Every place is a stage any creature is an audience, they were born to prove that they deserve the spotlight.

There's also a mentality of "any attention is good attention," this is how there's so much variety in what they try to impress the Moon Mother with. Some pumas become healers, some caretakers, others chefs, and then you have some that think murder is the correct way to go.

Pumas who have tribal ancestry and have naturally occurring pure white markings are said to be blessed by the Moon Mother, or have her genetics. Most of the time this leads to them being treated differently by the members of the tribe, creatures are more likely to interact with them in a way that would get them to receive the Moon Mothers gift.

Traditions

The Trials were created by The Great Puma himself in order for the Puma's to work and compete for their reincarnation. It's a way to get yourself in the eye of the Moon Mother in hope of her grace. They have become part of the tribes traditions and happen during certain seasons.

The Name - a trial where you find your "true" name, it’s important for reincarnation (there are 3 names, the one family calls you, the one others call you, and your true name)

The Survivor - a trial for those who wish to be officially converted into the beliefs. You must survive 3 days and 3 nights at the whim of the pumas. This is a hazing, there’s no way around it for outsiders.

The Hunt - a trial to prove you can provide for yourself and tribe

The Blood - to have a family and bring more blood into the circle

The Craft - where you make a song, chant, spell, or item to help you and tribe (example- healers make something to help with their job: a song to help recovery, a chant to help birth)

The Dance - in order to leave the tribes homelands you must challenge the last champion of the Dance. This is a duel to prove you can handle yourself in the wilds.

The Search - to bring someone into the tribe from the outside, to convert them to the circle

The Gift - A blood sacrifice done in what was once the Mother Moons birthing room. She gifted you with a second chance at life and you should gift one back for her to pass on.

The Performance - the final trial, it’s where you will offer what you have to the leader and where you can be chosen to reincarnate

Rules

Player Rules

- Follow the rules of Gaia, and of the guild.
- Be nice. You're not expected to get along with everyone but be respectful of your fellow performers.

Tribe Rules

Naming:
A tribe member traditionally has 3 names. One is the name your family calls you, or the name you were given at birth. Another is the name your friends call you, or a nickname of sorts. The last one is the True name, one you find to call yourself and is important to your final performance.

Example: Hostile Citrine Light. Citrine is the name her family gave her, Light was the nickname given by friends, and Hostile was her true name that she discovered.

When apart the tribe, you do not need all three names on your characters cert image, but you need to keep this in mind and note them down somewhere.

Coat Rules: Your pumas coat can have whatever natural colors you desire, however if they are going to be from the tribes ancestry they are usually darker in tones (browns, dark grays, blacks) with white in large quantities being very rare. A puma with pure white markings is said to be blessed by, or apart of the family of, the Moon Mother. Pure white puma's with ancestry to the tribe is unheard of, however if your puma is a convert they can be all white.
