Natural Powers, Gifts from the Old Gods
- In history, Gods once roamed these lands as Kings among the mortals and Ethereal alike. They were fierce and beautiful, deadly and cunning, and assumed to be immortal...That is until out of nowhere they all vanished, leaving the Ethereal alone in these vast lands. In their wake they left behind many gifts, some more powerful than others but all for the world of Irithyll to benefit from. Powers, the greatest of tokens to mark their once prominent existences, stemming from the Six Gods and their six unique abilities, were bestowed upon the Ethereals. Each newborn is born under one of those Six Gods, gaining that Deity's boon upon birth. Ethereal can only have one power, ever, but they may harness it for the rest of their lives... so long as they stay close to the source... to Irithyll itself.
Passive Abilities
- These are active at all times and vary from God to God. Ethereal cannot tap into or control these effects for they are automatic. Of course, they also do not drain any energy from the Ethereal.
How your Power is picked
- Each new Ethereal that is brought into the shop or born will receive a roll to pick what God/power they gain their ability from. You do not get to pick your Ethereal's power.
The Six Deities and their magical gifts.
• Born under Pyxis, forged of flame.
- Those under Pyxis are renowned for their magical strength over the element of fire. These are the only Ethereals able to conjure fire from nothing and control it's flame. This gift comes at the cost of it's user's energy, and can leave the wilder weak after use.
Passive ability: These individuals are hot to the touch. They generate more heat from their body than the average Ethereal.
• Born under the Mesmer, shroud of illusion.
- Those under Mesmer are able to distort the very air around them, those under the Mesmer have the command of illusions. This gift has been used for good and bad purposes, and is often seen as a cunning trait. Using this magical gift grants an Ethereal the ability to cast numerous illusions around them, large and small.
Passive ability: Their shadow never leaves them, causing a shadowy doppelganger effect.
• Born under Lyra, as the wind.
- Those under Lyra are said to 'fly' along the earth. These Ethereals are unparalleled in speed, able to sprint far and jump long distances, no matter how they might be built. Using this magical gift grants an Ethereal a sudden boost of speed, allowing them to race the wind.
Passive ability: The tendrils of fur these individuals possess are always in motion. It is as if they are standing in a light breeze, whether one exists or not.
• Born under Carina, the bold.
- Those under Carina are renowned for their physical strength. Their size is irrelevant; with the gift of pure might at their claws, they're the only Ethereals able to move extremely heavy objects without aid. Using this magical gift grants an Ethereal a sudden boost in strength.
Passive ability: Naturally resilient. These individuals are tougher than the average Ethereal.
• Born under Ombra, the dark below.
- Those under Ombra are tricky and crafty, giving the Ethereal the ability of stealth. Often used as a means of travel and escape, these Ethereals can simply vanish into the night, which gives them a good means of self-preservation. Using this magical gift allows an Etherals to melt into the darkness around them.
Passive ability: Darkness embraced. These individuals are undetectable under the shadow of night.
• Born under Lux, the radiant.
- Those born under Lux have the ability to heal the ailing. Ethereals with this healing talent find they are welcome just about anywhere. Using this magical gift allows an Ethereal to knit wounds back together. Those born under Lux suffer from extreme fatigue upon use of their power.
Passive ability: Radiant. These individuals give off a soft golden glow at any time of day.
