The Ethereal

Ethereals are tall, lean, and elegant canines, possessing the ability to roam between worlds. Due to their wisp like forms and illusive qualities, they were once thought to be the 'spirits' of Kells; long since forgotten by those of the mortal plane. Unlike dire wolves, the Ethereal may be unnaturally colored without the use of dye. A pair will mate for life, and are unlikely to join a pack or form one of their own; but it is not unheard of. They reign as the uncontested champions of Irithyll, with it's magic coursing through them. This deepens the Ethereal connection to the world and its great power. And, because they are born of this magic, they are said to be as old as time itself...

Ethereal Naming Standards
• Ethereals have the least restricted naming rules, in that they can be named after mostly anything, favoring fantasy inspired, exotic sounding, and colorful themes.
• They can not follow the same naming theme as any of the other breeds.

Ethereal Examples
• A few Ethereal naming examples are: Yorshka, Aldan, Esk, Sylas, and Neeko.




Ethereal Seers
• The Seer gene can manifest itself in both male and female Ethereal, as they are the original seers.
• Unlike the Seers of Kells, they do not have to have purple eyes.
• Ethereal Seer sport a long, flowing tail, distinguishing them from other Ethereal in Irithyll. This is the only physical manifestation of a seer in Ethereals.

Colors and markings
• Ethereal Wolves can be unnatural in color naturally (by birth). For this reason they do not follow the same rules as Dire and Berserker wolves.
• Ethereal Wolves can have unnatural markings by nature, so markings that would otherwise be typically found in dye can come naturally in these wolves.





Common Ethereal pelt colors
• Almost all colors can be commonly found in Ethereal wolves. They range from soft naturals to brighter unnatural tones.
• This is the only breed that can pass on unnatural colors to their offspring.
• Pure Black Ethereals are not permitted in customs, and are extremely rare.

Common eye colors
• Most eye colors can be found in Ethereal wolves, even purple.
- Any shade of the colors above are acceptable eye colors. Heterochromia is also very common in Kells.

Dye & Warpaint
• Ethereal wolves do not sport dye or paints of any kind, all of their markings are from birth.




Breeding
• Ethereal Wolves (Pure bred) get a 2-4 chance at puppies.
• Mixed breeding get 1-2 chance at puppies.
• Ethereal are RP only, you must RP to breed your Ethereal.

All creatures from beyond the veil follow the same color and naming rules as the Ethereal wolves.

Peryton

Are strong and sturdy creatures. They live in herds and usually mate for life. It’s been said that their antlers secrete poison, and that they can use their wings to glide around the lands with ease. Once a year Peryton shed their horns, leaving them to be collected by other creatures in Irithyll. Both male and female Peryton sport horns, they do not define gender. They are loyal, and have aligned themselves with the Ethereal, protecting their most coveted locations.

The Wisp

The Wisp is the most common familiar to the Ethereal. They light up the dark with their iridescent glow, and have been called the heart of the Ethereal. They are very loyal to their wolf counterpart and will spend their entire life bonded to one single Ethereal. When their wolf dies, they die. They are born from the magic in the land, and while they do not breed or grow and are gender-less, they are a magical creature, always following the light that guides them.
