Every day there was a little more hide to scrub and oil. "I'm going to end up needing a bigger brush if you keep this up," Aryale complained, jokingly and entirely out of love, to Yaguareth who was obediently holding up a wing so that she could use one of the smaller handbrushes to work around the shoulder joint. Ah, how big and strong those muscles were starting to get now with every venture into the sky. Soon they would both go. The thought made Aryale's stomach twist with excitement.
We will be ready, Yaguareth may have spoken calmly, but her own excitement was palatable to Aryale who just scrunched up her face in a grin at her. They wouldn't be the only ones ready, of course. The whole family had been hard at work, and Yaguareth had not been blind to their progress either. For example - Saheth - how are you and yours feeling about taking to the sky together? she reached out, certain there would be a similar feeling of confidence.
Not that Aryale needed anybody to be excited with.

We do well! Saheth declared, his wings spread wide to catch the sunlight. The blue was in a good mood - a frequent state for the confident, competent fellow - and he didn't mind sharing it with his sister. We will be prepared when the time comes. And already, Saheth felt that they would go far together. He knew his Kallian very well indeed. Craning his head, he reached down to nudge his rider, with a croon of affection and support.
"Saheth," Kallian said lightly, pushed mildly off-balance by the nudge. "This isn't easy when you're holding still, let alone when you move." Oiling his blue was a pleasure, but definitely a task at this point. It had been so effortless when he'd been small.
