Pack Announcement! New ranks have been added: envoy and crafter. Envoys will help with external pack relations, including forming alliances and recruiting new members. Envoys will have a great hand in developing alliances - while the Point has ideas for who they'd like to partner with, it will ultimately be the envoys' jobs to serve as ambassadors of the pack and make this happen IC. Crafters will provide the pack with much-needed tools (and trinkets!) and an expertise on creative ways to use forest resources. Additionally, two promotion ranks have been added: officer and counselor. Officer is a promotion rank available to hunters, protectors, or envoys and serve in a leadership capacity to those lower ranks. Counselor is a promotion rank available to caretakers, healers, and crafters and serve in a leadership capacity to those lower ranks.

Additionally, we are working on another new, special rank that was quite popular in the feedback survey. This will involve a roleplay event introducing the role, so keep your eyes peeled!
And finally, Willow Bark has informed the pack that breedings are no longer a top priority, but puppies are always welcome! Instead, with the implementation of envoys, The Swiftfell is seeking to shore up numbers of new blood and allied packs.

Pack Announcement! Check out our new Mates & Breeding thread. Due to low pack numbers following The Great Waste, the Point has decided to open up flings with rogues. Additionally, in the last public gathering of the Point, Thrush and Dusk Owl agreed to open themselves up for breeding. Each is meant to restore the pack to its former glory. Both of these methods of breeding require a filled-out form, which can be found in that thread. That thread should also be used to update the pack on declared lifemates.

Pack Announcement! Familiars now are able to join the pack as official members. Their ranks can be found in the Ranks, Members, and Rank Change thread. Joining is the same for wolves, using the modified form found here.
Special Announcement! Swiftfell is currently OPEN to breedings outside of the pack. This is in response to the startling low number of pack members after the Great Waste. This means you can enter the Halloween breeding event going on for the month of October. If you win a breeding, however, you must report it to the alpha! Even if the mother is not in the pack. This is so there can be a concerted effort to raise pack numbers.

History Update! This sets the stage for the recent history our wolves have lived through. Remember this when role playing and plotting.
The pack was running strong with little disruption in their day to day lives. That is, until one healer fell ill, quickly deteriorating in fast succession. Within three moons, he was dead. He was the first of many which would fall due to what was known as the Great Waste.
The pack didn't understand what was happening at first, and therefore were ignorant to methods that would have limited the exposure of this mysterious illness. Instead, they watched as brothers and sisters would first experience lethargy, followed by shakes in their weakened muscles. From there, intense pain in their abdomen and fluid loss would eventually lead to their bodies shutting down.
It was when the swift birds that resided in the pack territory began to migrate from the region that the surviving pack members decided they must leave their dead behind and seek out refuge in a new territory. They followed the swifts in their migration and are currently settling into their new home.

Pack Announcement! After some discussion, the breeding restriction limiting pack members to breedings within the pack has been lifted! This is due to the low number of pack members and the opportunity to introduce new blood. What led to the sharp decrease in pack members, in canon, is under development and will be posted as soon as it is determined. Thank you!
