[PRP] Curiosity killed the cat (Iniko x ???)

Being a cheetah in lands mainly populated by bigger predators of varying sizes made life a tad difficult. Many a time had Iniko been made to abandon a kill to avoid a fight, she just didn't have the strength to fend off a lioness or a pack of hyenas. It was nature's way which sometimes just didn't go her way, at least not normally. Right now though as an elk hung from her maw by its throat, a sort of excitement flooded her chest as she hadn't seen anyone nearby to interupt. The hold remained firm not to chomp through, that'd be too much for the cheetah, no she was cutting off air flow. Typically Iniko would catch prey around her size by tripping it first or leaping if the target was in an ideal position. This time the latter had occured, though slowly her jaw began growing tired.

Finally the creature went limp, a signal that the cheetah could let it slump over and she could catch her breath properly. "Whoo..." After a short break she began the task of digging in to get her full rather than wait and try to hide it. It didn't make sense to risk the time to be found before getting a full belly of what was rightfully hers.

What a downright beautiful morning.

The sun was warm and bright, without being as unbearable as it often became later in the day; his belly was sated with the hare he had recently caught, without being so full as to be uncomfortable; and he was finally certain that he had safely outdistanced his companion from the night before - not that she had pursued him, or likely even woken to realize he was gone.

Ascua practically danced across the savanna, the bounce in his step was so pronounced. His confidence was nigh unshakeable, but never so much as after a successful "courting" - which was fairly often, to his credit. The charming male rarely swung out with the ladies and he was very proud of that fact.

Speaking of females...

A pretty, chocolate brown cheetah with caramel swirls and marshmallow tips was hunched over shortly in front of him, her back towards him. Not that he was looking to score again so soon, but he never turned down the opportunity to introduce himself. He strolled over happily, noticing as he neared that she had a fresh kill in front of her. Knowing that most creatures got defensive of their food, Ascua decided it would be best to hang back a visibly non-threatening distance and make himself known from there.

"Hello there, Love. That's an impressive catch you've caught yourself," he called with a suave smile.

He's a bit of a ladies man. Don't mind him. If she doesn't respond to his flirting, he'll still do it, just 'cause he doesn't know how to turn it off, lol

iniko was still in the process of making sure her hunger and needs were sated, being quick to avoid larger predators. If any approuched she'd simply abandon the kill then go find something else. This time it'd be smaller considering how much strength it took to bring the elk down. All in all today was rather successful thus far, peaceful as not even critters disturbed the hungry cheetah. That is, until swiveling ears catch the telltale footfalls of another.

A bit disgruntled Iniko lifts her head, licking away blood from her maw to take in just who was near and how much time she had to flee. A bit of relief washes over her once she realizes it to be another cheetah. He didn't give her any signs that she could see to prepare for fight or flight so with a soft sigh the tension dissipates. What an odd greeting...Love. Did this male greet everyone like that? Maybe it had to do with where he came from...The meaning was lost on her, adrenaline still pooling in her chest after everything that'd happened. Still, he seemed ok. At least he knew to keep his distance around another's fresh kill unlike others she'd met before. He didn't seem to be thieving either so it wouldn't hurt to be polite.

"Hello. Thank you, it took a lot to fell the thing." There was clear pride in the cheetah's voice and she felt it well earned in this case. "What...brings you over? There's no other predators coming, are there?"

"If there are, we're both in for a surprise." Ascua chuckled and smirked playfully. Noting the pride in her tone, Ascua decided to add a little ego stroking to his flirtatious nature. "What brings me over? Seeing such a dazzling lady with such a remarkable kill, how could I not introduce myself? I am Ascua, and I am forever pleased to have met you."

Ever one with a flair for the dramatic, Ascua dipped his head and bent his front legs in a low bow. From the bottom of his gesture, he looked up and locked eyes with the chocolate female - and winked. Rising back to a standing position, Ascua thought he noticed some fear still remaining in his new acquaintance. While she had seemed to calm down considerably, Ascua had seen her original distress when she first noticed him and decided to make himself as non-threatening as he could. The iron-coated cheetah lazily lowered himself to the ground and stretched out, lying with his side pressed to the warm earth.
