[PRP] Cub of the Rock!! (Middy x Vash)

Adalhard jumped from stone to stone along the rocky shore of the fiyord, he was imagining that he was a mighty warrior protecting his territory. He ran forward and jumped onto a rock and then continued on leaping onto a larger rock. There he roared out with all his might thinking he was alone in his game and there was no one who could challenge him as his position as warlord of the rock. He dreamed of becoming a powerful reaver someday or perhaps even the warlord of the whole pride. He believed in himself even though at the moment he was merely a small cub.

A short distance away, Adalhard's brother Ferox sighed as he first caught sight of his energetic sibling. It wasn't that he didn't enjoy the company of his sibling, but there were times where he found his...exuberance exhausting. He was half hidden in a small crevice, which explained how his sibling had not caught sight of him sooner.

He'd made his way to the rocky shore in a fit of pique - something about the way the waves crashed against the rocks helped soothe his temper. Their mother spoke little about their father, and while he tried, constantly, to win her approval, always felt like he fell short - unlike his sisters, who seemed to effortlessly earn her praise and affection.

Shaking his head, he couldn't help the small grin that crept across his maw as he watched Adalhard roar (quite pitifully, if he did say so himself) from his position on top of one of the larger rocks. Getting to his feet, he shoved down the insecurities that had brought him out here and strolled toward his brother. "Were you trying to frighten mice, Adalhard?" he asked, eyes dancing with amusement. Surely tussling would work just as well as watching the waves crash against the rocks...?

Adalhard rolled his eyes as his brother teased him saying his roar could only frighten a mouse and maybe that was the case but he was too proud to admit that. He kept his head held high which looked pretty silly. "Nah I'm a mighty lion and I could frighten anything even a hyena." He said with an arrogant grin. "What about you what are you doing?" He said looking at the larger rock his brother was on. He frowned and went to try to jump up on the bigger rock and claim his territory. The problem being that he wasn't that good at jumping yet. Clearly Ferox had him beat in that area. Confidence and arrogance Adalhard had in spades, ability to jump that high not so much. He moved around the rock looking for another way to get up on the rock and take his brother down.

Rolling his eyes, Ferox couldn't leave that claim unchallenged. "Only if it was frightened of pitiful squeaks..." he taunted. Watching his brother try to reach his perch, he grinned, sitting back on his haunches and affecting a look of superiority as he looked down his nose at Adelhard.

With an (extremely unconvincing) helpful tone, he finally spoke again. "Having difficulties, brother?" Every bit of his body language was a taunt, egging the other cub on.

Vashtya

Adalhard growled at his brothers teasing as he finally found a connection of rocks that would get him close enough to attempt to knock his brother off the rocks so he could gain the upper paw in the situation. He leaped and made his attempt at attacking, not aiming to hurt his brother but still aiming to prove he was a strong male. He was after all a child of the storm. He could hear the water at the shore crashing as he flew through the air not really thinking where he might land if his attack failed in this attempt.

With a satisfied yowl of his own (his own rather pitiful attempt at a war cry), Ferox met Adalhard head-on. Unfortunately, as he did so, one of his back paws, scrabbling for purchase, happened to hit a wet patch of rock, and slipped, unable to get any traction. Predictably, as a result, when his brother hit him full-force, he was immediately (and embarrassingly, had the audience been anyone aside from his own sibling) swept off his feet.

Grunting, Ferox landed hard on his side, although it didn't take the scrappy young cub long to retaliate, batting furiously at Adalhard's face with tiny paws.

Vashtya

Adalhard let out a might little roar not taking into account that his brother had slipped and that was why he had gained the upper paw this time. Their battle was on. Though to the adults, it would most likely have been nothing more than a little tumble as the male cubs were not very big. Adalhard was hit across the face but he wasn't going to give up he jumped back and then launched himself forward to attempt to pounce on his brother once again. His breath puffed out as he started to grow a little bit tired but he was unwilling to give in.

Attempting to scramble to his feet, Ferox had barely gotten his paws beneath his belly before Adalhard had pounced anew, although fortunately he hadn't managed to knock his sibling quite so helplessly onto his back this time.

With a yowl of his own, Ferox pushed back, panting, yet determined to come out ahead. Dropping his shoulder, he attempted to shove it into his siblings tender belly, hopeful that the action might bring him a moment's respite.

Adalhard was knocked in his tummy and the air wooshed out of him and he lay in the stones stunned for a moment. Then he started to laugh. He got up and shook himself off. "That was a great sparring match, you get better every time, but one of these days I'm gonna beat you and I will become a reaver or captain or maybe even the warlord." He said with sure pride in his voice. He wondered what rules he would change if he ever became the warlord. Maybe giving power back to the females, he wondered what his family would think of that.

Still breathing hard, Ferox eyed his brother suspiciously, as if half afraid he was going to pounce again once his more vibrantly-colored sibling let his guard down, then huffed a small sigh. "If you say so," he finally said, with a toss of his small mane...although privately he wondered at such...lofty goals. Maybe he'd tell their mother about how he'd beaten Adalhard today, and she'd be proud of him? Even if she told him so, though, would it be true?

Standing fully upright, he shoved his thoughts aside, lips twisting up into a grin that felt as fake as it probably looked. "I bet I become a reaver before you do!" he retorted, giving his sibling a superior look. And, while it had sounded like a boast, he intended to do all in his power to make it so, determined to make a name for himself, to one day become someone to be proud of.

Adalhard laughed and then growled, "We will have to see about that." He said in a proud tone, he wouldn't sit back and let his brother be the winner. He fluffed up his fur and then looked around trying to decide what he wanted to do next, he had lost this match but he planned to not lose the next one. "Well, I suppose we should get home now before we get in trouble for being out so long without permission." He shrugged perhaps they would get away with it perhaps not. He supposed it would depend on what their parents were doing at the moment.
