History of the Raiders It started as a failed raid involving the first alpha, Night Fell, and his sly little raccoon companion. They got caught red pawed and were chased out of the territory they had been slinking about. But it hadn’t been the first time they’d been in this pack’s territory, so the chase was much more serious. It sent them straight on through the Kell’s Run and beyond, into a land that hardly anyone was familiar with. A hot land that turned their pursuers away. Yet they kept going, curious as to what they may find. Of course, being ill prepared for a desert trip, it didn’t take long before they found their paws sore and bodies weary from the constant heat. Fatigue lead the duo into desperately seeking out shade. And water. However, the desert land was unforgiving and water was not easily found.
Feeling the first strings of real despair, the Night Fell almost gave up and let the sands take him. Until he, quite literally, stumbled into the precious commodity the desert had to offer. A hidden oasis tucked away. Only one who had stumbled upon it by chance would know how to find it.
And it was beautiful. Perfect. And theirs. They wouldn’t let anyone else have it. This was their greatest treasure. To be protected. But they couldn’t do it alone. So, they plotted. And began recruiting. But only those wolves that held a special skill set. For this would be their treasure trove. A place to store the valuables they raided and traded. And as they began to slowly grow, the small pack realized the potential to profit from those lost in the desert lands. They knew the desert. They had a source of water and shelter. And for a small price, they would share a piece of this treasure with you.
Welcome to a raiders paradise.

Leadership Leadership in the Sand Raiders can be broken down into three tiers: The Watchers, The Protectors, and The Eye.
The Watchers: This tier of leadership consists of the Alpha and his mate (should he have one) as well as the aforementioned Whispers (who totally don't exist, nope). These wolves report solely to the Alpha pair and are the most ruthless of the pack.
The Protectors: This tier of leadership consists of the Betas and the Sidewinders. Their priority is the protection of the Heart of the Pack as well as the borders of the territory.
The Eye: This tier is for the Seers of the pack (should they acquire any). As their name suggest, they are the “Eyes” of the pack. The Watchers rely heavily on the gifts of Seers to help protect the pack lands as well as detect when a wolf may be breaking the Code. Any pack member that a Seer accuses of such will face the Pit of Poison. Should they survive, they are exiled and best watch their back lest the Whispers get their paws on them.
Honoring the Code Once an official member of the pack, a wolf is given their symbol of the Code they will honor. This comes in the form of necklace with a rattlesnake tail, to serve as a constant reminder what your duty is to your fellow packmates and the punishment that will befall you should you break that Code. (OOC Note: This may become a customed item in the future, but for now it can be assumed pack members have one!)
Outsiders Oh why hello, have you stumbled upon the territory of the Raiders? Well, they are a pretty laid back bunch of wolves. So long as you have something to trade with. Nothing comes for free in this territory. Want refuge from the heat? They require a 'gift' for every wolf seeking shelter. And the more valuable the item is to trade, the better welcome you shall receive from this ragtag pack! Outsiders are seen as the next unfortunate victim to be manipulated into gaining food, trinkets, information, and whatever the pack can use.
However, those that are seeking to join the Pack must prove themselves to the Alpha and his Betas. This usually comes in the form of a trial they will be tasked with completing. Fail to complete it, and you best be running with your tail between your legs or you might just get a poisoned needle to the rump!
Trial of Thieves When an outsider wishes to join the pack, the Alpha and his Betas will require this wolf to prove their worth and dedication. This comes in the form of a solo raid. The Alpha and Betas will determine the territory to raid and expect their new recruit to bring back a valuable item - a larger prey animal not native to the desert, jewelry from other wolves, familiars, or important information, to name a few things - and return to the pack without giving up their location. This wolf will be under the watchful eyes of the Whispers (unbeknownst to them) and should they fail in some aspect, most likely will not be returning to the desert.
Safe Passage Rights Any member of the Crows pack - and other allies they may make - have free and safe passage rights to come and go as they please through the Sand Raider's territory. There is a mutual alliance held between these packs. The Crows are welcome to den up as needed within the Heart of the Pack and even share in the packs meals and their water source.
Mates & Breeding Whomever sings the right tune to your heart is yours to do with as you please. The pack is quite accepting of all pairings as they consider everyone to be part of the 'family'. Their Code also protects packmates and mates from being the victim of a thievery from one of their own members. As for breedings, they are unrestricted at this time, however the Pack does frown upon rogue breedings as it risks the location of the Heart of the Pack. Currently, the only exception to the Pack's views on mateship and breedings is if your mate belongs to the Crows! They actually encourage mates from their allied pack as it helps the Pack's build their numbers and strengthen their relationship.
Coat Colorations The Sand Raiders have no restrictions on the color of ones coat. They are a motley bunch of misfits all banning together to find the best valuables. They care not what their packmates look like! All coat colors and dyes are welcome. (OOC Note: The Sand Raider's paw print logo is also available to add to your wolves as dye, if you so chose!)
Hunting Living among the desert is an unforgiving land and hunting is the most vital part of keeping the pack alive. However, due to the scorching land they call home, hunting is mostly done at night or early in the morning, when the sun isn't as brutal. There is higher ratio of small game (mice and ground squirrels mostly) that the pack tend to hunt freely for themselves. However, the larger game (javelinas, jackrabbits, and deer) are shared among the pack. There are also times when the pack will gather a raiding party and head further north into the lusher lands for big game to bring back.
Nocturnal Due to the nature of the desert, the pack tends to be mostly nocturnal in their activities, when the temperature is cooler and the ground doesn't burn ones paws as quickly. Because of this, they tend to sleep during the hottest portions of the day in their dens which tend to be dug into the ground (in some cases previously belonging to another critter that was chased out) but also in the rocky outcroppings found at the Heart of the Pack.
Small (& not so small) Companions Currently, the Raiders only hold high respect for Ravens and Raccoons as they are fellow scavengers of valuables. The Ravens are also quite useful in scouting out potential prey for the pack to hunt as well as what territories (and rival packs) may have the best shiny things to go after. Raccoons tend to have sly fingers that can grab items a wolf might struggle with. Hares and Deer are highly frowned upon as they are seen as food rather than companions.
Lately, as more bears have been showing up around Kells, the Raiders have an undetermined set of mind towards them. They seem to be dealt with on a case by case basis.

If you would like to be allied or enemies with the Sand Raiders, please toss either Kyrieko or Pandora Talie a DM/PM! Also, since they are a raiding pack, if you would like to plot with us to have your pack territory raided or other juicy drama filled things, feel free to toss your ideas at us!
Allied Packs
The Crows - This is one of their favorite allies as they are kindred spirits. Both packs have a tendency to raid and collect valuables. They have an understanding as to which parts of Kells each pack respectively loots. The Crows and Raiders will trade with one another, sending native familiars to and from, pups if pack numbers are low, food, and medicine to help each other out. They also share information with each another, and even have been known to exchange prisoners or troublesome wolves with one another, especially if that wolf may find a better home in the other territory. Their pack members are able to freely travel between the territories when needed or visiting. The two packs will also frequently communicate with birds, although some of the Sand Raiders think Night Fell is just sending love notes to Big Bad. He swears he most certainly is not! Big Bad is his best mate, you scoundrels!
Iron Hides - Much like the Crows pack, the Raider's have a close relationship with the Iron Hides. While they are not as tightly bonded as their sister pack, the Raider's will trade with the Iron Hides in exchange for protection and sanctuary when traveling outside the desert. Those of the Iron Hides have permission to freely travel through the Raider's territory - often with a guide to traverse the unfamiliar desert - as well as den up with the Raider's if seeking an extended stay. Night Fell himself seems to hold a high degree of respect for Snow Rabbit and it is not uncommon for the Raider's alpha to occasionally be found training with the other alpha.

Name: Sandstorm [No cert yet!] Owner: Nymphiea Fresh Meat or Old Blood: Old Blood Desired Rank: Beta! Brief Personality Blurb: Clever, manipulative, and quick on his feet, Sandstorm is a force to be reckoned with. He may not be the largest male, but he's witty and a flurry of teeth when angered. He seems to always be plotting, although he hides it behind humor and false charm. He'll persuade the fur off your back if it was possible. Truthfully, Sandstorm only has interest in two things; what benefits him and what is good for the pack. He struggles to get close to those emotionally, as he's fairly cautious and wants to remain the lovable Beta in his packs eyes. His own pack members might never get past his outward smiles and pretense.
He's far more sarcastic and darker in humor if someone can successfully bond with him. He's aware his true nature might be... not impressive, but with true friends he drops all pretense. He trusts the Alpha and other three Beta's to see him as he is, but currently that's it. Maybe someone else will worm past his defenses?
As a note, he seems to behave weird around pregnant wolves. He refuses to explain the reasoning, but it has something to do with his previous mate, who died while pregnant and on a raid. History: Born into the pack, he instantly loved it. It has always been his home and will remain so. He grew close to the current Alpha, although it was purely an accident. As a puppy he kept bumping into the current Alpha, to the point he began to ask if they were stalking him. A friendship grew quickly.
As an adult he took his duties seriously. He advanced pretty quickly into Beta position, as he was trustworthy and clever on his feet. He puts forth passion for his pack and is always thinking of new ways to protect them and further their expansion.
He took a mate during his early Beta years; Quick Lemon. While he used to make fun of her name, their bond grew quickly. She even got pregnant! Unfortunately, she died during a raid that went wrong and Sandstorm immediately responded by throwing himself further into his duties, hell bent that no one else would lose their mate on his watch.

Name: Blood Falcon (no cert yet bc I’m a fool) Owner: medigel Fresh Meat or Old Blood: Old Blood Desired Rank: Den Mother Brief Personality Blurb: Despite the ominous name, Blood Falcon is a pretty sweet girl who wants to make sure you’re having a good day (and hopefully a better one after chatting with her). Her mothering is eternal, with or without pups to foist herself upon, causing her to fuss over even the older wolves in the pack. Have they been cleaning themselves? Did she need to fetch them something? Were they playing nice? It’s funny to see someone this kind be a raider, but Blood Falcon treats it as a necessary evil to see her packmates flourish and sees herself as Mother To All.
What’s probably even funnier is how much she loves even the pit snakes and other creepy crawlies of the desert. She dotes upon them like any other wolf pup (or grown a** adult) and knows enough factoids about them that makes one wonder if Blood Falcon wouldn’t let a newborn snake nurse, she likes them so much. There have been times where she recklessly met and delighted over wildlife that could kill her with a single sting or bite, and nothing would make her happier than to educate you about them as she did! History: Second daughter of two second generation healers, Blood Falcon had never really gotten the whole plant mashes and juice deal. She left that stuff to her sister Mudsullied Jackal and occupied herself more with stalking different indigenous wildlife, learning about the habits of bears, poisonous insects, and the like. As an adult, Blood Falcon parted from her family in search of Kells’s most interesting specimens of fauna to learn about and share her information with others.
Hearing that the harsh land in the south was home to even more intriguing animals, she made it into the desert and acclimated with little trouble, used to different climates during her many travels. She was scouted after a Sand Raider saw her handled a wild rattlesnake as easily as one handled a newborn, and while she didn’t naturally look like a fit for a raider, Blood Falcon was a pretty strong girl. She claimed she got fostered by a few bears for a while, and one naturally got tougher living with them; that and, well, she was used to handling herself as a single gal in the wide world. Her knowledge about a variety of snakes and their feeding habits was also a boon to the pack, though some might question why she moons over the pit pets so much.
