The weather was thrashing about on the cliffs. Winds pulling wave upon wave against the walls, daring them to crumble under the pressure. They didn't dare give though, didn't budge at the waters demands. Atop the cliffs sat one (though probably others) lion, alone. Eykt had been too and from the cliffs most of his young life, admiring the horizon that seemed to go on for miles. Across those waters he would catch glimpse of a mountain, or what he assumed was a mountain. He didn't give it much thought after that.

A crack gave him a start out of his daydream like state and he inhaled harshly. Though the waters didn't win the battle against the wall now, didn't mean it never would after all. He became very aware of where he was standing, nearly leaning over the edge, and took a step back.

"Today may be a good day to die, but I'd rather it wasn't the day I died." He mused to himself, for the most part, and took a moment to consider his future. Eykt often didn't dare to consider his future more than a moment, for he wasn't sure what it held. Of course it was up to him to shape it, and thanks to his grown in mane he had all opportunity. The future just held to much possibility for him to handle at any given time.

Future him problems.

He had stepped away from the edge, and lay at the top of the cliff, opting for somewhere safer. He rested his head on his paws and simply stared forward - his mind grew blank and he was no longer paying attention to his surroundings.

Vaska and Slava were always together, nearly inseparable in their cubhood that extended far into their adulthood. Since the great changes to the pride, with a new leader and a new regime. Vaska had taken to it easily, though Slava was starting to settle.

Nothing mattered as long as the two could still be together in their ambitions. Of course, this meant that Vaska stuck closer to the pride more often than not, and the two would spar or take turns fighting any of the other members who dared belittle them. Slava was stronger than her brother, physically, but that didn't mean he didn't fight.

The twins moved along the cliffs. Though they weren't particularly looking for a fight, one would be more entertaining than watching the water crash against the rocks and listening to the wind howl. Today, Slava was calm, but Vaska's rare rage bubbled up. It'd be his turn to fight if they found someone today...

The loud, enraged waters, settled and he spared a glance in the cliffs direction. It was true that he never expected to be alone long (if at all) here and so when a pair of lions came into his view he wasn't shocked. His head did return to a resting position on his paws. As though he hadn't a care in the world, didn't have a thing to prove. It was a recipe for disaster that he lay so casually, especially when not long ago (just below where they stood, lay and otherwise) there had been a gathering of females attempting to raise some hell. Of course it didn't seem to go anywhere, but it was clear that there was a fire in some bellies over the recent changes.

Eykt let his eyes hang on the lions, noting their matching markings - twins - and curiously seeking out what lineage they might belong to. He recognized the markings that dressed their backs. He'd seen it in lions that had been closely related to a dear friend (may she rest with the Stormlords) to his Grandmothers. The familiarity struck him and he made a sudden choice to get up and approach the pair.

His mistake was that he didn't say a way, just watched them.

Vaska nearly flinched when the other moved so suddenly - he hadn't really been paying attention. He snarled at the other for startling him, swiping a paw. He could hear Slava chuckle behind him, and it only made him angrier. When he was angry, he was sloppy. "What are you looking at?" he bit out angrily, teeth bared and aching for a fight.

Slava walked a bit away, leaving her brother behind, but she did plop down to watch. She had an idea this would go, of course, but it was really anyone's game. If Vaska was angry enough to win this he would be able to overtake with just rage despite his sloppiness when he was angry.

Or he could calm down, and think of a strategy. The least entertaining thing would be for them to back down, but with the rage that settled in her brother today she was sure a fight would happen.

Eykt was alarmed when his present company began to snarl and even made a (rather sad) swipe in his direction. He assumed the action was a warning, and he got the message, but wasn't ready to move on with his day.

Of course that changed a small amount when the male spoke, bared his teeth, and made his intentions very clear. "Nothing. As in you aren't much to look at." He felt the urge to roll his eyes, but didn't dare let them move from the frame of his now opponent. In his peripherals he could see the sibling (he was assuming life wasn't that coincidental) seat herself out of the way, but was clearly intent on watching.

There would be a duel.

"Now, your sister on the other paw..." He smirked, just a little, perhaps enough to earn himself a reaction. Either way he wasn't going to let the stranger dictate how things would go down - he lunged forward, claws out and seeking flesh.

Slava huffed at the male. She was somewhat amused. She wasn't quite one for her appearance after all. She looked as she did, and that was that.

Vaska, on the other hand, snarled and lunged for the other male. The rage he felt was almost palpable and he wanted to see the blood of the white male on his claws. He aimed a swipe as best as he could with his near dizzying rage.

"Don't you look at her," He growled.

Slava thought he looked quite foolish, and wondered if she looked so dumb in the midst of battle. She gave a small laugh. "Yeah, brother, defend my honor," She said blandly, watching how the other moved.

Vaska would surely lose, and then he'd be so annoying for the next couple days... Ugh.

Though he wasn't head of the 'class' - had there been one - the male knew how to throw his weight around. His bloodline was gifted for their grace in battle, but not impossible to defeat. Admittedly he had gained some weight with the last few feasts, the pride was thriving under Ushindi's stern paw. He hadn't known Zjarri's leadership for long, but wasn't fond of the famine stories (or what he could recall of it).

Eykt liked his food. Simple as that. "Oh?" His response sparked a cocked brow and purposeful gaze towards the lioness, which awarded him a clumsy connection to the male. The pair collided with a force that suggested they had equally seen enough battle to do this, but perhaps not enough to be well oiled machines. He finally let loose a slow snarl as he met his opponent nose to nose.

"I don't think I'd grace your family with my genes, not if your sister took care of the den in the same reckless fashion that you attack." His brows furrowed and lips continued to tug back, baring his own teeth now in an eerie 'grin'. The taunt fell short slightly as his opponent made contact with his flesh. He ground his teeth and narrowed his eyes as blood began to dapple his green hued pelt. The paleness allowed the blood to glisten, it would give away his movements if his opponent was wary.

For his response he shifted his weight, using a shoulder to try and propel the lion backwards. Eykt also planned to take down the cliffs today - or so he told himself.

Vaska huffed. "As if my family would willingly join with yours," He said with pure disgust. He barely knew the male, wasn't clear-headed enough to actually decipher his bloodline by looking at his pelt and stature. It wasn't hard to pick out larger families in the pride.

Their family could be connected to Zjarri though, and with public opinion on her at the moment. They hadn't flaunted their connection, but their mother had. Slava wondered if she should call off the fight. She shifted where she had flopped down, ready to get up if she needed to.

Not that her interfering would help with... anything.

Vaska pushed back against the other male. He could finally feel he was losing and made a desperate attempt to at least maim the other long enough to get away. His injuries were thankfully hidden by his dark coat, but he felt pain.

"You two look like fat seals flopping against one another," Slava stated, matter-of-factly as she stretched forward and stand.

"You'd only be so lucky." The come back was lame, the pale lion could admit that, but Eykt said it with as much confidence as he could muster. It had suddenly hit him that perhaps their fighting was for naught, what if their blood lines were already a twisted mess like the rest of their home.

He didn't get much of a chance to think on it before a couple of things happened all at once. The female in his peripherals had adjusted herself, the male had begun to push back and then it happened.

Gasp.

He reeled with her comment and pressed hard against the male. Hoisting himself backwards to stare in her direction. "Yeah well.. you're a fat seal." He snorted.

Slava snorted out a laugh, walking up towards the pair. She shook her head, the fight was pretty much over anyway. Her brother clearly lost, but it was just a spar so it wasn't that important and he was being an idiot.

"Thank you, I know my body is ideal for carrying cubs, but I feel like you don't really have an excuse..." She hummed, and Vaska just sort of stared at her in this dumb way. Maybe she shouldn't have let him fight... "And a brother that resembles a fish..."

She shook her head. "I think this is over... Lets go," Slava shook out the kinks in her body, and her brother just followed her away, slightly dumbfounded about the whole situation but at least he wasn't angry anymore...
