To any onlooker, Amaunet appeared calm and collected. She gazed passively ahead and her expression could be considered either serene or bored. However, if one glanced closer, they might notice the tightness in her jaw or the way her claws dug small grooves in the ground beneath her paws.
Inside her mind, Amaunet was terrified. Not fear of fighting or of pain, but fear of failure. She'd finally found a place that she considered worthy of calling her home, but first she needed to prove herself. If she was going to be a full-fledged member, she needed to show that she was worthy. Not just to all of them but to herself.
She would throw her best effort into this duel, no matter what. Even if she failed, no one would be able to say that she hadn't tried. After all, this might be her first duel, but it couldn't be that much different than hunting. And her siblings had often practiced with her as well, making sure all three of them could defend themselves against an attack. For so long it had been just the three of them. Net hoped the skills she had learned would help her now.
