She thought scars such as that made one more beautiful in someway. She'd collected a few small additions of that sort scattered across her body from her recent adventures. She wondered if she'd gotten a reputation by this time in seeking out duelers--she felt she ought to, at this rate anyway. In all honesty, she was just tried of getting her a** kicked. How out of touch could she have really been?

She heaved a sigh and realized it'd been nearly three days since she had found an opponent. "I wonder if I'll ever run out of options?" she mused quietly as she made it to her feet. She felt lighter, she noticed. She was thinning the fat on her body by her recent exploits and it was hardening her muscles and bones. It was an elating feeling, honestly.

With that in mind to perk up her spirits, she let out a ripping roar that echoed as far as she could manage. She silently hoped someone would take it as a call for challenge and she resumed cleaning her forearm.

Runa flexed her paws as she dug into the dirt. She wondered what her twin was up to, but as the duo had grown older, she had felt slightly estranged from him. They were both adults though, they needed to live their own lives, even though they were identical. She sighed in annoyance. What could she do now that she was no longer a 'reaver'? Life outside the pride had been fun, and now she was lucky if she could even get a captain to sponsor her.

Runa's shoulders shrugged forward. Hearing a roar echo through the land. Her ears perked forward. "Ah," she said to herself, a small smirk on her maw. Perhaps a challenge could be fun. Her pace picked up to a small lope, coming over the old paths until she spotted the caller. She gazed at the healing wound on the other, quirking an eyebrow.

"You wish to duel when you are still on the mend?" Runa said almost flatly. "That's bold."

Vígdís heard the padding of feet approaching soon after followed by a brown lioness coming around the corner of the path. Another lioness she didn't know. Do I know any one in this pride anymore? she thought to herself, somewhat bitterly.

At the mention of her arm, she laughed but without mirth. "Its practically healed." And it was; it just didn't look all that pretty. Shrugging to all four paws, Ví hopped down from the stone ledge she'd been perched and gave an appraising look over the lioness. She found her brown pelt very attractive and it added a bitterness to her thoughts. Ví's white pelt resulted in a dire inability to camouflage well and she envied the female in front of her. As chamaflogue was patently unhelpful in duels, she dismissed these thoughts by way of shaking the hair from her eyes.

"I am Vígdís and am seeking shield maiden status. Most females that I've met in the last several moons are also... what say you?"

Runa eyed the wound before shrugging. "If you say so." She had her own fair share of wounds and scars from the past.

Her dark eyes lit up at she mentioned her intentions of ranking up to shield maiden. "Ah, us females certainly have to prove ourselves more nowadays, don't we?" Runa asked with a quizzical look on her features. "Luckily under Zjarri'fol's reign, I was able to already become an established reaver, and ultimately Shield Maiden once Ushindi took the position." she advised. "But, I can certainly help you attain your goal. Let's see how well you fight, shall we?"

Duels weren't Runa's specialty. She enjoyed going out of the pride, not testing other's skills. But, if this was what she needed to do in order to keep her rank, and eventually be able to go back to the outside world, then so be it.

The chocolate female lowered herself, taking a defensive stance.

Vígdís' eyes lit up. "You're a shield maiden?" The jealousy she felt was tangible as her muscles flexed in a liquid manner, her claws pushing theirselves into the dirt below her feet. "Maybe one day you and I will be on the outside together."

With that, the lioness made clear the duel had started through body language. She tensed, stepping so-so to gauge the female's response. There would be no discerning her skills until she was in the thick of the match and with that thought, she leapt at the female, claws extended and teeth bared. The lionesses collided and traded blows for blows though none rendered either opponent seriously injured. So far they were quite equal in footing.

Runa flashed a small smirk towards Vigdis. "Perhaps we will. But enough chit chat."

As the lighter female tensed, Runa's eyes narrowed as she watched her move. Claws extended to dig into the dirt as the darker female lifted a lip in a snarl. Vigdis collided with her, something the darker female hadn't quite expected. She had originally underestimated the female for her injuries, and now the seer found herself at a slight disadvantage.

Runa had to remind herself this was not a battle to the death, but a match for skills. She would observe the other. Females needed to stick up for each other in this world. If Runa could give any helpful hints in a duel, she would.

She swiped at the female, taking offense for a brief moment. "Don't leave your hide open." She advised, launching for the female's backend. Runa could have only wished someone had helped her in duels when she was learning.

Feel free to run through a few of the scores in your response~ you have my permission to use Ví as you would need to reflect their rolls. ;w;

Vígdís grunted in reply to the lioness' advise, not in order to brush it off, but her concentration prevented her from elaborating further in response. The lionesses were matched at the first but the brown female lapsed in her defense. Ví took the opportunity, striking out with extended claws which struck the broad side of Runa's shoulder. She didn't attempt to cut into the flesh and therefore didn't extend her claws to their greatest length. Instead she ducked back, attempting to leave Runa's reach, anticipating a reply blow.

Runa rolled so poorly haha. .

The claws raked against Runa's shoulders, causing a grunt. When nothing seemed to cut her flesh, she glanced at the shoulder before smirking. She disliked the idea of duels, and would rather prove herself in the roguelands against strangers instead of her own pride members. She had proved herself after all. She held the reaver title when it was still able to be obtained for females.

Well...at least other's could prove themselves this way she figured. She pivoted, her jaw widening to clash at her neck. She intended to leave a wound. If anything, it meant Vigdis would have a story she could impress others with. She got this scar from a battle! She could embellish it as she wished, but the root of it would always be there.

Vígdís was slow to realize the brown lioness's lunge and it cost her when she felt the teeth bit into her neck. Thankfully the adrenaline in her blood kept her from feeling more than a sting but her instincts had kicked into high gear. Responding in kind, Ví's jaws thrashed about, looking for purchase to latch onto. At this angle, it was impossible so instead, she brought her hind legs up to kick viciously against her opponent's body--similar to how cubs frequently "played" with each other; except here, Ví's legs were powerful and her claws wicked sharp.

The brown lioness let out a noise of pain and let go after a few blows, her lips smeared with a small amount of blood. Not wasting a second, however, Ví tackled the lioness to the ground, pinned. Her jaws hovered over her jugular as she panted. "Yield?" She was panting but her strength was powerful in her limbs. She could win this one, she felt it.
