It was the middle of the night; not a sound was heard along these plains, not even the wind, and it was clear that everyone in the area was asleep.
Or well, most everyone.
Now, usually, Meera would either be sleeping in her newest napping spot -- she'd found a good one this time -- or bouncing around, waking everyone up in the process. However, she'd found something far more interesting to look at... the sky. Which wouldn't normally be all that "new", but goodness! She had never seen so many stars up there, and some of them were even streaking across the sky like fireflies.
It was gorgeous, and she was transfixed. The silence that accompanied it made it almost otherworldly in it's beauty. It was rare for something to happen to actually make to decide to sit quietly, but in this case, she'd decided that it was worth it.

Discontent traveled through the Godddess in waves, waves that would send her away from the troubled sibling she found herself continuously rescuing, a cycle Xbalba couldn't seem to end not matter how hard she raged against it. Maya was apart of her after all, and though the emotional strain the relationship put on the Goddess did send her into episodes of despair she always seemed to recover just in time to find herself at her sister's side once more, cleaning up a mess the beastly female had made.
This time however Maya was badly hurt and without any protection at all. The mortal was lucky Xibalba was able to save her when she did, by the skin of her teeth and the luck of the Gods the Goddess had retrieved her battered sibling from a war she didn't belong to, from a place that was not her home.
The Goddess flew against the dark sky until her wings could carry her no more, landing silently as a cloud of dust engulfed her figure completely. On nights like this the many-eyed Goddess longed to be with her lover, his lack of words often brought her comfort when nothing else could.
Slowly the Goddess emerged from the dust-cloud, tall and dark, her lean figure covered by tattered wings as she blanketed herself, unaware of the company she now had.
