If Lawlett's dad installed anything in him other than a strong drive to not follow commands, it was to make him a man of his word. When Lawlett says he's going to do something, you can be quite certain that he's going to do it. While he may not have been honest on how long it will take him, he's not about to give up and walk away. He'll sigh and push through. This also follows through to his job. As much as Lawlett would love to not do anything, his stepmom has assured him if he loses his job its to the streets with him. He's not going to miss a day of work as long as it means he can go home to a crummy apartment and sleep.

Not exactly fearless, it gives Lawlett too much credit, but he is certainly a bit more brave than your average male. He isn't one to run off when things get dark or gloomy and often stands his grounds for not only himself but for others who need him. Ghost types don't scare him (atleast not right away) and in most cases, Lawlett can stand strong. However, this is not without weakness. Lawlett is terrified of fire types. Due to the experience he had as a kid, he never recovered and harbors a deep fear for them. Put a fire type in front or against him and you can make Lawlett shake.

While Lawlett stands by his promises, he isn't one to push or demand others to follow his beliefs. He grew up with his dad and he hated how he was always wrong in his father's eyes when they argued. He'll let you know what you think and you can argue if you want but he isn't one to argue back. Everyone's got their own mind and there isn't any use in making someone think exactly like you.

You know what they say: let sleeping snorlaxes lie. While Lawlett isn't lazy he isn't one who looks like he puts his heart and all into everything. He often sounds tired and monotone and many first glances would lead you to think the male just woke up even if its 3 in the afternoon. Don't take it personal if he huffs and sighs when you ask him for help. Its not that its honestly a big request, its just a transfer of moving his small amount of energy left. Even the things he's happy about it seems that he just doesn't have the drive to care even when he does. He's just a tired old soul.


⋅　SARCASTIC　　⋮　　


Most of Lawlett is dripping in sarcasm and tends to be the main reason he pisses other people off and buts head. He often uses it as a form of joking and trying to push the buttons of those he likes but it doesn't take much for it to come off rude. When it does blow up, he'll drop the sarcasm and a bit of care. If you can't stand his sense of humor, it might be better to not find yourself stuck with the ranger. His sarcasm goes beyoung just people and add to a whole new layer of cynical attitude that Lawlett carries with him. The whole world is dripping in negativity and Lawlett uses sarcasm to make it just a little bit better, one roast at a time.

Most days, Lawletts cynical and lethargic nature tend to merge into an even worse aura, one that's grumpy. It hard to say he isn't a grump. He does look at the world in a negative way and often views a lot of things as too much and too much energy. He is dissatisfied and perhaps that's what ends up making him grumpy. Either way, it tends to make him gruff and even mean when he doesn't want to be. On bad days, it's nearly impossible to get a smile and often you'll be met with nonstop sarcasm that borders a line of just being mean. He needs to be put in his place sometimes.



⋅　QUIRKS　　⋮　　 weirdly knows what direction he's heading when he walks, almost always chewing gum, is cursed to have technology break on him frequently even when he's being very careful with it, pretty cynical 24/7, memorizes phone numbers easily whether its from ads, businesses or was told it, has a horrible memory of just about anything else and tends to forget even the simple things

Despite what you may think, Lawlett's childhood was good. His father was far more patient with him and his mother adored him. He was a happy child. He was born in the Alola region to a pair of farmers. Named James Lawlett Davis, Lawlett was named after his dad and often referred to simply as junior. He was close to them both and often spent his time with the Pokemon or helping out on the field. While he asked for a brother or sister to play with, it wasn't in the stars and Lawlett grew up a lonley but spoiled child. When he thinks back to his younger memories he feels happy at what he had. That all changed when he was 10 and his world was rocked with what became known as the fire. What started the fire, Lawlett doesn't know. His father told him it must have been a fire type that had gotten in the house while he and his dad were away. Whatever the case was, the house was up in smoke and flames before anyone could do anything. When they returned home, they returned without a home and without Lawlett's mother. She, tragically, did not survive the fire. To say Lawlett or his dad handled their grief well would be a lie. Rather than be open with his son or talk to him, Lawlett's father turned cold. He sold the land, packed up their things, and moved. He stayed distant and Lawlett had to handle his mourning alone.

To make matter worse, Lawlett had to leave his friends behind to move to the Hoenn region where his father soon remarried and Lawlett found himself with his world turned upside down. He felt as though his father replaced his mother and while the tension could have been settled, his father was in no mood to see any sort of counselor and instead became harder on his son. At 13, Lawlett turned to anything that would go against his father and stepmom and at 14, he turned to smoking. He would do anything to piss his father off and the more his dad told and punished him not to do things - the more Lawlett did it. He dropped his first name and Junior and went by his middle name. He hung out with the wrong people and got caught up in the wrong crowd. He was being driven home either by frustrated victims of his mischievous pranks or cops who didn't want the boy to head down the wrong path. His mother tried to offer up the idea of sending him on his own adventure but Lawlett had no interest in what she had to say. He became a mess, often drunk or high and causing trouble wherever he went. His father was at his limit. Not only would his son not listen to him, he would go out of his way to piss him off.

Frustrated and out of options, his father sent him over seas to a disciplinary school. Lawlett hated it and struggled to conform with a school that demanded the child adhere to their rules and structure. It would eventually come to a head when some of the students could no longer stand the rowdy teen and his endless tormenting and they snapped. Lawlett was locked in the detention room for a day, beaten and dripping in ice cold water. When the staff found him the students were disciplined, the family was issued a deep apology and Lawlett was sent home. Perhaps feeling guilty for the way things went down, Lawlett's father backed off his son and instead tried to give him more space. With his father no longer breathing down his neck, Lawlett started to calm down. He lost interest in his partying and antics and often stayed at home and read. He stayed at home... a little too long. While he finished high school, be it with Cs and Ds, Lawlett was doing nothing in the way of work or a future. While his father had backed off his Stepmom was at her wits end and demanded that Lawlett either find something to do or get out.

Ranger school was his father's idea and this time he didn't make the decision without Lawlett's knowledge. He enrolled his son in the school at 21 and Lawlett left home with a goal at least in mind. Finishing school meant becoming a ranger which meant the trouble ridden teen had to mind what he did and when he did it. His antics all but stopped and Lawlett now hopes to hold his job and just keep moving forward. There was no more looking back.

Despite what some may thing, Lawlett doesn't like to be alone. Being alone means having to deal with himself and he isn't quite ready to handle himself. Even lethargic and grumpy, Lawlett enjoys the company of others and their thoughts. Perhaps, in a way, being a ranger was a good choice for the boy to help others and keep company nearby.

The fire took his mother away. He never really got over that day and has projected his fear of losing the ones he loves into the flickering flames. He's terrified of fire and even more scared of fire types. He fear what they can do and doesn't want to associate himself with them. When met with a tame fire type he'll leave but when battling one he'll freeze up and struggle to move or give out commands. When pressed with fire, he may pass out.
