Topher: Age 6 a few days after the school incident

Topher slammed the door as he stormed out which literally shook the house. "Stupid house, I could wave and you'd fall over." It wasn't really that bad but it was in need of major improvement compared to what their old place was. He just wanted to go back but that was out of the question. He heard his mother yelling at him then yelling at his father. Now one of them probably dad would come get him. He was having a hard time concentrating as it was and now they wanted him to do home school. The teacher didn’t understand what was going on. Yeah he was a little snippy with her, no he didn’t have to throw something at her as he stormed out but he wasn’t happy. Oddly Chris had decided to not interfere which he was glad, he didn’t want to argue with her at the moment that’d make everything even worse. He ran to the fence line to the neighbors yard, sometimes the cows would wander this way and he’d feed them grass when everything was getting to him.

”CHRISTOPHER!” Topher winced at the name, not the full name dad, damn. It didn’t take his dad long to find him feeding the cow. ”You can’t run off like that.” ”I’m still in the yard…” He wasn’t really hand feeding the cow but using telekinesis to give it grass from their side that was hard to reach. ”Why on earth did you throw your book at Miss Branson?” Topher frowned and sighed, ”I couldn’t concentrate and she kept… well not saying it but I could read it in her mind that if she had a yard stick she’d smack me with it.” ”You’re not supposed to read minds Toph…” ”I KNOW… I just… I’m too distracted to have any control over right now, I’m sorry.” Topher looked down and heard someone yelling from the other yard. ”Millie…where are you old girl? Oh…” Topher and Jack both turned as a old farmer came into view on a horse and stopped behind the cow. ”I’ve see you made some friends… my word, is that Jack?”

”Mr. Miller, don’t tell me you’re still running that old farm, thought you would’ve passed it onto David by now.” ”No, no… David went off to college and became a fancy city lawyer, doesn’t have time for farming these days sadly, what’s your name?” Topher was about to hide but his dad pushed him forward, ”Chr… Topher, I hope you don’t mind me feeding your cow.” ”Nice to meet you, and no, usually she’s a stubborn one, so that’s good for you to get her to. Say Jack I thought I taught you better.” ”Pardon?” ”I’’m not that clueless and out of tech these days I’ve seen the news. What that woman did to your son, and then this move, he’s beating himself up over it and blaming himself. Damn it Jack, I taught you better.” Jack blinked, he forgot Mr. Miller was one of THEM after all. ”Topher?” Topher clammed up and looked down he started to bolt for the house but Jack grabbed him and held him in a hug.

”Topher no. None of it is your fault. And really the house of school doom is your escape?” Topher shrugged after Jack released him from the hug then looked to the famer. ”How… you…” Mr. Miller pointed to his head. ”Your surface thoughts are very clear boy, and don’t worry I’m not like her. Harming people is not my game at all.” Jack nodded, ”He helped me actually. Your gramps was well too busy, your grams was as well so I was with him most of the time when they couldn’t.” ”After the time you got arre…” ”Shut it.” Topher was puzzled at the last bit as his father glared at Mr. Miller the thought of something in his dad’s past. Jack sighed, ”I was thirteen at a party, got arrested for underage drinking and dru…” ”You also hit Officer Paul…” ”Thank you for reminding me…” Topher was trying to not laugh at this point watching his father gritting his teeth. ”Anyway, I was a hellion too at times is what he’s trying to get across so I shouldn’t let one thing go against you.”

”HEY OLD MAN WHAT ARE YOU DOING OVER HERE THAT HOUSE IS EM… oh hey.” ”Old man… Nate, I’m going to.” Topher barely turned as a boy a few years older than him came running over but was going to cry out as he noticed a rather large flying branch come flying at him. Nate dodged it quickly regardless that Topher had put up a shield in front to stop it. ”Missed me.” ”I’m not even controlling it right now.” Mr. Miller turned to Topher who was now on the fence controlling the branch. He heard a mental note from the man. Pretty good, chase him with it… ”If you’re not then… HEY!” Nate was looking at the branch as it floated in mid air in front of him but started to bolt as Topher made it chase him but it came crashing down suddenly. Topher hadn’t noticed Millie the cow coming closer to him and she had fully liked him right in the face. ”AUGH!” Everyone was laughing but Nate was completely on the ground at this point rolling in laughter. ”You have literal cow lick.”

Topher had hopped down and turned to glare at Nate. ”I’ll give you one…” He started to chase after the boy, though Nate seemed to avoid him easily. ”Stop running.” I could make you stop… Jack watched as Topher chased after Nate and smiled, well at least something good came of this. Topher was finally not bruding over every little thing so maybe he’d have to bring Topher over to the farm and help out Mr. Miller. ”Do that, but after he does school, that’s more important for kids his age, Nate does too. Speaking of… NATE WHY AREN’T YOU AT SCHOOL?!” ”OLD FORGETFUL MAN ITS FRIDAY EVERY OTHER FRIDAY IS EARLY DAYS!” Jack nodded at the though and looked to Mr. Miller but he held up his hand making Jack stop. ”Topher, no powers unless I say so or you get to help plow my field.” Topher stopped chasing Nate and stared to look at the farmer incredulously. ”Seriously?” The man just smiled and nodded. ”Dad??” Jack shrugged and looked around puzzling where he was, ”Oh hey, seems you’re on his land at the moment, so his rules.” ”So NOT FAIR.” ”Don’t like it, then don’t just step over…”

Jack turned back to Mr. Miller. ”Where does Nate come into this?” ”His dad runs a security firm in the city, mom runs the books for it so they’re generally busy. So Nate comes over and helps around the farm after school when he’s not busy with whatever sport his in at the moment I forget what it is now.” ”TRACK! Though I have to go into the city to do it, not many from this little di…town of my age do it.” Mr. Miller glared at Nate as he and Topher returned to the fence and Nate was about to say something he shouldn’t. ”Say Nate, your dad wouldn’t happen to have a business card and you wouldn’t happen to have one would you?” Jenny had mentioned something about getting more security if she was going to persue her political agenda, it’d make the family a target. Nate ran to where he dropped his backpack grabbed it and pulled something out of one of the front zippers and handed Jack a card. ”Oddly enough he gave me a new stack this morning.”

Nate stopped and looked at Topher ”Oh hey that’s why you looked familiar you’re that kid on tv.” ”So?” Nate shrugged like it was nothing, which to him it wasn’t, ”That lady was so a b***h, my cousins are like you so I have nothing against anyone, except people like that lady. Dad always told me that people like that are the reason he went into security, well that and he was military before.” Mr. Miller was about to scold Nate for the language but just glared and pointed at him, he had to agree. ”Yes Nate’s dad is former military so if you consider him your Uncle probably knows of him and could get information for you most likely.” Of course Mr. Miller knew of Frederick, when Jack’s father was living at the small house Frederick was around quite a bit. ”I’ll have him stop in and say hello, I’m sure he’ll be around a bit more since it seems we’ll be moving in permanently.” Nate stared at Topher with a grin, ”They said you have a sister on the tv to so that means I get to meet her?” He wiggled his eyebrows a bit and Topher tackled him while both Jack and Mr. Miller laughed. Nate was still winning at this point. ”I was joking. But seriously, I need to teach you to fight if you’re going to be around here, other kids here are a bit rough.”

James was speeding along after catching a steal of a car but frowned as something started to go wrong. ”Nononononooooo…” It was that vision, being clairvoyant was nice and all but a pain in the a** when trying to predict your own future, you could move it into many different timelines, apparently his was going into the one where he got caught by that b***h. ”God damn you Aurelia, just cause you can never beat me. F*CK!” He slammed the steering wheel as the car came to a stop and knew it would be useless to try to get out. At the same moment a couple of trucks pulled up and some army types got out and surrounded the vehicle. James quickly put his hands on the ceiling and stayed as still as he could. When Aurelia came out last she had a big smirk on her face and finally the door was unlocked and he was roughly pulled out. Being only sixteen would throw him in juvi, he wasn’t sure why the military was…”Where the ******** is my dad then you evil b***h?” She kept walking towards him and blinked a bit. ”Not here James boy.” ”He is, just waiting for you to call him.” She blinked at that. ”Do it so I can get this over with.” ”Holy f*ck me, you’re a psychic, that’s how you always won, god damn cheater.”

”It’s a skill, I don’t use it to predict the winning, just up my reaction time, for when you try to cheat and run me off the road.” ”I would nev…ok only that one time.” She pressed something on her phone and a few more cars came up. His fathers which he recognized and two unmarked cop cars. So his dad was playing it that way, fine then. ”Two options right? Join these pricks with you or go with them?” James would’ve motioned to the guys but they had bound his hands with a large zip ties. ”James, shut up, you’re in so much trouble right now that you’re lucky your mother is busy. And shut it Aurelia.” Aurelia looked like she was about say something but stopped. ”You’re being transferred to Frederick’s team so keep your mouth shut unless you want something worse.” ”Who did you piss off?” He knew of some of the structure where his father was based so she had to piss someone off. ”Me, by pointing out that I’ve been a bad father while in a meeting with some of my superiors so she can deal with it.”

James frowned and his father was about to stop him but he just kept going. ”So I get to be forced under her and move around with Frederick basically since you don’t want to deal with me or I go to juvi.” ”And ruin any chances of going to college or advancing your future. I knew you were doing stupid s**t, but stealing cars and racing them. Jesus Christ James, you could get hur…” ”The odds of that are sli…” ”I don’t give a f*ck about your ability, your future if anything were to happen would be flushed down the toilet” ”Like now?” ”I’m giving you options, If Aurelia hadn’t told me and you’d been caught by cops before hand, you’d go directly to jail. Since it’s our car, we’re not going to press charges but if you don’t take the option James….” James sighed and leaned on said car, it only took him a moment to see what would happen in the future if he didn’t. ”Mom would be pissed, you two would fight, things would get bad. F*CK!” He wanted to punch Aurelia, he knew this was her operation but his father put a hand on his shoulder so he couldn’t move anywhere. ”You’ll be under her for a bit, but maybe some humility will be good for you, besides, Frederick is working with the Mizuki’s and they’re looking to hire some drivers, which is the other reason I’m transferring her, you, I just need you to be somewhere safe, and not in a jail cell, you have a long life ahead of you, don’t waste it.”

[[age 13]] ((we can make this actual plot if you want...))

Topher was bored as hell but at least his mom let him bring his tablet so there was that. They had guest wifi so he could jump online and play games but he couldn’t get into the main, well he could but they’d know and he’d get in trouble, his mom would get in trouble, then he’d get in trouble again, wasn’t worth it, the guest wifi was fast anyway and worked for what he was using it for. OF COURSE she had stuck him in her office in that building and told him to stay, not like he could really go anywhere, there were too many guards around and they knew who he was and probably would throw a fit if he wandered. Eventually he walked out to get a drink and found a guard staring at him at the door and turned around to go back. ”God f*ck…can’t even get a drink, what am I supposed to do if I have to go to the bathroom?” ”ASK.” Apparently the guard heard him before he slammed the door and slumped back into the sofa in the waiting area.

After a few hours of course Topher got really bored of not being able to move around. He would’ve rather have been home, at least there he could go outside. He finally opened the door to the annoying guard who just said NO to him before he could even ask anything and then shut the door again. ”p***k.” Fine. He sat back down on the sofa and got into a meditation state and closed his eyes working his mind to the building and opening it to get into those he could, which was generally everyone, except his mom, he tried to stay away from hers when he did this so she wouldn’t sense him mind roaming. He got to the meeting room and frowned as he started reading the thoughts. ”Bi? Ew… Ok, they’re having an affair… that’s inte… hold on, that’s illegal and he’s trying to bla… NOPE!” Topher opened his eyes and slammed open the door to the grinning guard but pointed at him before he could speak. ”Shush, take me to the meeting.” The guard tried his hardest to fight it but Topher just stared at him and the command finally took.

Apparently the guards had some training, he’ll have to remember that. He followed the guard through the halls which was amusing as some of the people visiting just stopped to stare. His family was known so seeing him there was unusual, well at least without his mother there as well. Oh, and there’s a reporter, well, now his little jont will be known and his mom will be rather pissed, but that was a given. They turned a corner and went down a rathe LONG hallway and got to the doorway where there were more guards who started to protest to Topher following the guard but Topher quickly silenced them with a silent command and a shake. They opened the door and he stormed in, to a obvious ”CHRISTOPHER MIZUKI WHAT ON EARTH!” and lots of more shouting until he told the ones he could mentally to shut up. His mother was definatlely giving him a death glare and quickly walking his way at the middle of the meeting. He put his hands up making her stop which probably really pissed her off.

”Sorry.” He started and pointed as he went. ”That one is trying to get information illegally to blackmail you through a fugitive contact. They’re having an affair, he’s bi, that guy just wants you out of office but is playing nice about it, that guy wants to shoot me. And the guy in charge wants to ask me a few questions now.” ”I’m going to shoot you…” He had unfortunately released her and she grabbed his arm tightly, good hell was she trying to break it? Probably. ”Jenny wait. Bring him here. That’d be the guy in charge, he was a p***k too but generally to your face about it. His mom gave him a death glare which meant he was probably going to die later for this stunt. As they went to the guy he ushered them into a back office as the meeting kept going into a frenzy, but the guards had taken the guy he accused of blackmail out for questioning. ”Topher right?” Topher nodded and rubbed his arm after his mother released her grip on it. ”Can I ask you to test your skill in I guess length, how far you can read? I knew of a few things you pointed out, I just want to see if anything can be…” ”You want to know if having me here or near is a security risk… Maybe? You can call him.” The guy winced at his words.

”I was going to call the President Jenny, he already knew.” Jenny visibly winced and glared at Topher who just shrugged. ”Sir we have… Yes you heard, ok, Can I ask you to think of a number.” ”Seventeen, his daughters age, now he’s thinking of what dinner will be tonight…” The man gave Topher a shush signal and Topher stayed quiet as the man spoke, he already knew what was coming and that his mom would not be pleased. As the conversation ended the man hung up and turned back to Topher and Jenny. ”Well for one, NEVER bring him back, unless we specifically ask and he’s escorted by Frederick and one of our people. Two, congratulations Topher, you and now Chris are two of the youngest people to have a high level security clearance. Do you know what that means?” Topher nodded then lowered his head. ”For me, and Chris information we learn cannot be used in any way against the country or spoken of without specific directions to do so or we’ll be arrested for treason.” ”Correct. Jenny, we’ll close the meeting for now, please take him home, and again, never bring him back without proper escort and request.” ”Will do. CHRISTOPHER…”

Topher was already walking out the door, the back way and when the got to the hallway he started to make a dash for the door to try to get out but his mother put up her own kinetic shield which he never seen her do. He slammed right into it and tumbled back as she rush walked up to him and pulled him up and smacked him so hard it echoed through the building. ”Don’t you dare cry, don’t try to run Christopher, that could’ve ruined lots of things. You’re lucky you caught him on a good day. Now go and get in the f*cking car and you’re grounded for life when we get home, and no buts…” Topher just glared up at her as people turned the corner to see what the loud smack was but then quickly walked away. ”Stop causing problems, behave and listen FOR ONCE.”

[[Age : 19]]
Dustin was with his training group when he noticed half of them not paying attention to running and turned to see what they were looking at and noticed why. There was a small group watching two people fight. It wasn’t the fight itself but the speed and skill that the two were showing. ”Alright since none of you are paying attention to what you’re supposed to be doing we’re taking a break to learn some things.” ”Who are those two?” Dustin wanted to literally face palm. ”One of them is Captain James Reynolds as in Commander Reynolds SON, the other, if you don’t know them, no one who does tell them.” A few snickered, so some of them did know, this one obviously didn’t. ”Think about it for a second, who does Captain Reynolds work with?” The one that questioned it shook his head and Dustin literally wanted to smack him but it’d be improper. ”Still clueless?”

A convoy of SUVs was heading towards the other group and Dustin waited. Sure enough Commander Reynolds was in one of them and walked towards the group. The fight was still going but quickly stopped as he walked up. The Commander shook both of their hands and started talking to them. ”Ok I cave.” ”Obviously you don’t watch the news, the guy with the RED hair is Topher Mizuki you dumbass. Yes that one.” The others finally started paying attention and Topher actually looked over at their group. They weren’t anywhere near for him to hear but of course he picked up on the though Dustin gave a wave. ”Just giving a lesson, no worries.” ”He can’t actually hear us can he?” ”He’s the strongest telepath known but not actually listed, so he probably picked up on my thoughts. Rule one, don’t ever PISS him off.” At that point Topher had actually started laughing and the Commander and James were looking at their group confused, Dustin saluted and got the group moving, ”Right, time to run again, MOVE.”
--
Topher had been on base training with James instead of the Fredericks men. For one James was reporting in for a day but as well he was displaying some of the fighting techniques for the group. He briefly felt some surface thoughts mention him and turned towards a new training group and recognized one of the trainers and started laughing after the mention of not to piss him off. Of course Commander Reynolds and James were confused by that point and he just pointed to the group and then calmed down. ”So Sir, what is with the visit?” James’ Father was one of the only few military types that Topher actually respected. It wasn’t that he had a problem with the regular men, just most of the people in any kind of higher position knew of him or Chris and had their own agenda or simply avoided him. ”We have a visitor and seeing that you’re here, wanted you to use your skillset to help us.” Frederick was walking up and shook his head but stopped when the Commander put his hand up.

”Topher enjoys his little time here and training, least he can do is a few tasks for us. Also this is coming from higher up the chain.” ”So Paul is here.” Topher grinned as the Commander winced and turned back to him and gritted his teeth. ”Yes.” ”Wouldn’t have anything to do with what Chris was working on for him would it?” Again another wince and he shook his head. ”Paul gave me the Security clearance for a reason. I’m a telepath, as well now, my IQ besides my sisters is one of the highest, its easy to put together.” James was looking at Topher now and Nate had joined them and was confused as usual, both of them didn’t really know who was all involved with that but now they did, James probably figured it out but didn’t ask, Nate was clueless as usual. ”Anyway, come with me if you would, we want to extract some information from a guest to verify some that Chris gave us.” ”Why? Her information is generally if not ninety-five percent or higher correct most of the time.” ”I know that, Paul knows that, a third party that is handling this wants verification.” Topher gritted his teeth but nodded, ”They’re coming with.” ”Frederick of course, James is a Captain so he’s welcomed, Nate, being your bodyguard I’ll allow it.”

Good, if they wanted to play games at least they were letting him have some leeway, well the Commander was, he wasn’t sure who the third party was. He had tried to probe a bit but the Commander was on lockdown, being trained well to block probes and Topher wouldn’t pry that info and break his trust. As well the other party he could sense, but couldn’t get any information from. He had a name for the other guest that was most likely going to be the person he’d extract information from but surprisingly they too were trained and blocking distance telepathy. They all got into the convoy and headed towards the administrative offices. James was casual, Nate seemed nervous as hell at least to Topher but on the outside was calm. They had been around each other long enough that he didn’t even need to read Nate’s surface thoughts to tell he was nervous.

They walked in and had a little security convoy with them. Of course he and Nate were disarmed, Nate was about to put up a argument about it but Frederick just shook his head. They were the civilians here, there wasn’t any reason to create tension. They stopped and Commander Reynolds paused and turned back towards Topher. ”Unfortunately, only you can go in, Nate will have to remain out here with Frederick, your security clearance is one of the highest here.” Topher looked over as Nate gritted his teeth and he just nodded. They were on a military base, nothing really could go wrong. ”It’s fine Nate, if anything were going to happen on this base it would have.” Topher opened the door and walked in to see a foreign man turn to him. As the door shut the foreign man visibly tensed. ”So obviously you know who I am.” They were in a interrogation room, and being monitored obviously. Topher sat down and the man tried to move away but couldn’t because of the restraints. ”Lower your block and do this the easy way, don’t make me brute force my way in.”

He had briefly talked with James’ father on the way over so he knew what information they wanted, a location. Chris had gleamed some to pretty much accurate information and he knew from reading Paul a bit that they already had a team in play. Someone didn’t trust her, they wanted to verify with this man they had captured before sending a full team out on the word of just a teen. Topher sighed and grabbed the man, he motioned a stop to the crowd behind the mirror before they could rush in to stop him. ”I have to, contact is the only way I can brute force when a*sholes put up mental blocks, sure I could probably brake it but it’d take time. I’m pretty sure you don’t want to wait that long.” The man was cursing at Topher in Arabic and Topher replied back for the man to calm down in a perfect mimic of the region the man was from. The man visibly tensed, Topher also felt a few of the people behind the mirror tense. ”Hello, telepath, I can pretty much learn the language instantly from him.” Not technically true, but they didn’t need to know that, he and Chris pretty much could learn languages easily, he was pretty sure his mother spoke at least five, and that was just the ones she spoke more than average.

He went through the process of breaking through the mental block but couldn’t pull his way out and was getting stuck in a vision loop when suddenly Nate was there pulling him out of the room. The man was cursing at him. ”I’ve seen you brute before, it doesn’t take that long something was wrong… Topher?” Topher had his eyes closed and finally opened them, Nate instantly took a step back. It was a good thing they were in that room and there were men blocking his way into it now. ”He…” ”Top…” Topher spun around and was about to be stopped by the Commander but he quickly got out of the way. Topher walked around a few corners and made a motion making the guards who were about to block his way into a office stop. He walked right in glaring as he looked around. Paul was there, another man and his aids and a few of the people that he had seen on base. The one man stood up and was instantly angry.

”YOU CANT JUST BA…” Topher just pointed and he shut up instantly. ”Topher calm down.” Topher noticed that a map was pulled up of the area that was in question and he grabbed a pen and stabbed through the wall in the location he saw from the man’s head. He walked out of the building and Nate and James followed but looked away as he found some grass and fell to his knees and threw up. ”Topher what the f*ck?” ”He’s the one who ordered the kidnapping… Topher was also about to mention the fact that it involved James but Nate didn’t know that and James didn’t’ want everyone to know yet, Topher knew, James had told him as much that he was adopted. Nate was STILL confused as usual, ”What now?” Topher rolled to a sitting position and closed his eyes taking a few breaths to calm himself. ”When Chris and I were babies, a group kidnapped us. Originally they thought it was some group from OUR government but they were all foreign, that a*shole in there is the one who planned it. And lots of worse things.”

Frederick was in the doorway and heard everything and walked back in and explained to a very angry General Alberdeen and Paul who was trying to calm the General down. ”We’re lucky he didn’t kill the man then.” ”No Paul, we’re lucky the building is still standing.” Alberdeen stopped pacing and turned. ”So someone that volatile has that much power?” ”His strength is telepathy, but any pissed off psychic can level a building. The only ones who you would really need to worry about are the lower powered to null. That family, yeah, don’t piss them off, there’s a reason that rule book exists.” ”I figured most of it was a joke.” Frederick shook his head and Paul winced as Frederick went and pulled one of the rule books out from the desk and threw it at Alberdeen. ”I see things plotting in your head because he stopped you. With all do respect SIR. RULE ONE, don’t. The reason that rule exists is because a NUMBER of groups have tried to figure out WHY those two have their security clearance going behind Paul’s back and trying to get at them on their own, with their own methods. Lets just say, we lost a lot of men, to a needless cause.” ”One family shouldn’t have that right.” ”No we actually started treating most high level psychics that way. They generally wont cause US problems if we leave them alone. However there are some that cause problems, so they get special treatment. The ones that work with us, leave them alone.”

Chris and Matt were sitting at one of the food court tables at the Mall. She had wanted to go shopping with her friends but they were taking forever to get there and of course Matt had to come with her. Not that she needed his company but he insisted and her mother agreed. She sipped quietly on a milkshake, waiting for him to finish. She stiffened slightly and set down her shake, tilting her head slightly. “Everything okay?” Matt questioned and she ignored him for the moment before whispering, “God damn it Topher…” “Topher? Is he okay? Do we need to go?” Chris shook her head. “No… but that changes…” She held up her finger at Matt, who had started to get up. She pulled out her phone and scrolled through it for a second, but paused before dialing any numbers. Finally she set down her phone with an angry huff. “Nope, that makes it worse… Oh well.” She looked back over at Matt and shrugged. “Its nothing now. Nate and James are with him so he’ll be okay.” She avoided telling him the actual reason. Since Alberdine decided to verify her information in such a way, now things were going to go slightly differently and he was just going to have to deal with the consequences of that. Unfortunately that would mean a not so pleasant conversation in the near future, but Chris wasn’t about to ruin her day because some one decided her information wasn’t good enough.

That day came and Chris was standing there with both Alberdine and Paul staring at her expectantly. Paul’s expression was mostly amused, but Alberdine was pissed. “You said No casualties. Do you know how many…” “Three.” “What?” “Three casualties. They’ll live but they’ll be out of commission for a while.” Alberdine glared at her. “Your information was wrong.” “No My information was spot on. You decided, with your infinite wisdom, that my information wasn’t good enough and decided to use my brother to verify. That changed things so instead of No Casualties, you had three.” He still didn’t seem convinced but a new connection arrose in his brain. “You knew… You knew there would be casualties.” Chris’s smile never changed. “Yes.” “And you didn’t tell us?” “No. Because the second I call Paul to tell him Three, that number jumped to five. And a fatality and you would have lost the target.” “How The ******** exhaled softly. “My information said these four points. Enter first from points one and two. Only one guy in the hall, easily taken down. Enter from point 3, one guy there. From there you get into the room with the target and easily overpower him, one guy in the hall with a 50/50 chance of coming to investigate, easily taken down. Don’t enter point 4 at all. It was a trap.“ She used her fingers to explain, rattling it off very similarly to how she had explained it before.

”But you used Topher’s intel which tells you point 4. Using the front door was not the way to go. Therefore, Three Casualties. If I told paul about the Three casualties, You would have put everyone on the front door instead of splitting like you did. Ergo, Five Casualties, one Fatality and the target slips out the back entrances.” That seemed to shut Alberdine up. At least for the moment. Paul was very carefully trying to hide his glee. “I told you she was good.” Alberdine didn’t seem impressed. “I am not relying on unverified information from a future seeing child, Paul! No matter how good they are.” Chris detected a hint of something more sinister lurking behind his words but it was gone before she could investigate it further. “Now Gene…” “Its okay. I understand. The General doesn’t believe i know what i’m talking about. And yet, he decided all on his own that a telepath could give him more accurate information than a Seer. Perfectly understandable but what you don’t realize, John, is that the future changes all the time. But I can guarantee that in six months your wife will leave you. Your son, who you desperately want to follow in your footsteps, will drop out of rotc the second he and his mother leave that house.” “You cant... “ “I can and I do know that. Just like I know the next time you use my brother like that, I won’t play nice. That goes for you too Wittman.” Her sharp gaze tore through Paul and he stopped his smirk.

“On that note… Don’t expect me to help you again. If I see something I’ll say something but otherwise, I’m not about to be your official Seer in these matters. I did it this once as a favor for Paul.” As she walked out she heard the General curse “The nerve of that child…” Paul chuckled. “I’m pretty sure you just pissed her off. Be glad this conversation didn’t end worse…”
