Lucifer grumbled to himself, his tail twitching as he walked, already wondering how he had been talked into taking his younger half-sister on her first viking. His own first viking with his brother had made him wary of vikings with siblings, dad was going to owe him for this..
At least it couldn't be any worse than that viking, right? So long as they stayed away from cave, and snakes, and bats. Bats, he did not like bats!
Gold eyes narrowed, his gaze settled on the young lioness. Oh good, she was already waiting, at least that meant he didn't have to go looking for her. Fine, let's get this over with. Maybe this time they could bring something back besides stories.
"I assume you're ready to get started."
It was more of a statement than a question, he was sure enough she ready to go, and if she wasn't that was not his problem. The fiery lion wasted no time, turning toward the path that would take them over the borders.
"Let's get this party started."

Hila almost rolled her eyes at his...attitude, but opted against actually doing so - he was, after all, willing to take her a-viking with him, something she had been waiting to be able to do since...well, as long as she could remember.
The reaving itself was a large art of that, since it was the only way she was going to have the freedom to see what lay beyond the pride's borders - and if she was going to do something, she wanted to do it well, so she hoped they were able to bring back some impressive spoils...
"Of course." She replied, keeping her voice mostly even. When he turned his back on her and simply started walking, she couldn't help it, she did roll her eyes...but she also padded swiftly in his wake, her shorter legs having to move faster to keep up.
As they approached the border, she finally spoke up - she did so tentatively, although she was careful to keep any hesitation out of her voice - she was a firm believer in beginning as you meant to go on, and while she knew she had a lot to learn, she wasn't going to act like some sort of missish lioness, willing to be relegated to the background.
"So what's the plan?" She kept it simple, her tone almost studiously nonchalant.

"Good."
Lucifer glanced over his shoulder at the young lioness. He may or may not have caught her rolling her eyes, rolling his own in return as he turned back toward the path. Roll your eyes all you want, the fiery lion did not care, it was too early to be bothered.
"We raid, we find treasure, we bring it back."
Lucifer shrugged as he spoke. He had not thought of any particular direction or place to visit. He had already been to mwezi lands with Ciro, he had no desire to revisit, nor was he especially interested in revisiting the desert after meeting a lioness of the firekin. No real fire, how disappointing. He supposed they could just search the rogue lands for a while before returning home, that seemed safe enough. Maybe they could find something shiny, or bring back a few herd beasts for the pride.
"Where would you like to explore?"
So long as there were no caves...

Hila looked skyward at his response - thank you for that, captain obvious~! On the flip side, she supposed, he seemed like he wasn't overly temperamental, so her snark was less likely to garner major repercussions...
"This is my first time going outside the pridal borders, so all of it is new for me." She replied - technically, she'd crossed the border with Tanaka on hunting trips, but they hadn't gone too far, and she hadn't had all that much time to actually explore the areas in any sort of depth.
"I could really use some good stones for beads, or some bones to carve," she continued - she wouldn't turn down a particularly nice pelt, either, but she wanted smaller items that weren't as likely to get in the way on subsequent raids more than anything else - pride pushed her to want to show off her new reaver status, without having to speak a word.

She rolled her eyes. Again. At this rate, they were going to get stuck that way. On the upside, she could terrify cubs at a glance, she thought to herself, almost snorting at the thought.
At his next words, though, her expression shifted, as did her posture, suddenly all business. She nodded instead of replying verbally. If that was the case, she should start paying attention. To be fair, she'd already been keeping an eye out as they walked, as she was enjoying the freedom of being able to leave the pridal lands, and so wanted to learn as much as she could, but now she was focused.
She wanted loot, something special of her own, to take home. Stepping up a bit closer (close enough to properly assist if something showed up, but not so close as to restrict his movements), she tried not to show her nervous impatience overtly.

Lucifer paused, shooting a glance at his sister.
"I would not bother that if I were you, unless you want a snout full of needles."
Not that he was going to stop her, but if she did end up with a nose full of quills, she was on her own, he was not going to pull them out for her. Shaking his head, the fiery lion walked on a short distance, pausing when something caught his own eye, the remnants of a large skeleton.
His eyes narrowed, whatever had taken down the beast was long gone, as were the majority of the scavengers. All that remained some blood soaked earth, a few scattered ribs, and a rather impressive skull. A smirk, Lucifer cautiously trotted toward the skull of what had once been an antelope. He picked up the skull by one of the horns, a bit of cleaning and it would make a great piece for someone, perhaps as a helmet.
"This might be more--"
Suddenly the lion fell silent, his tail flicking. A glance toward his sister, a gesture to get down and stay quiet, quickly ducking behind a large rock himself. A pair of lionesses nearby, perhaps searching for their own prey to take down.

Hila reluctantly left the porcupine in peace, staring at it poutily for a moment before stalking after her brother. They would have made for some really stunning beadwork, but they were probably not worth having to admit that Lucifer had been right, if she ended up with a face full of spines.
Head tilting as she caught up to him next to the remnants of the antelope, she couldn't help but notice it appeared to be in good condition. When his posture changed abruptly, she tensed as well, ears flicking forward even as her eyes narrowed as she tried to pinpoint what had cut him off mid-sentence.
It was in that frame of mind that she didn't ask any questions or try to second-guess him when he motioned at her, intent clear. Slinking, low to the ground, she crept behind a nearby rise, hidden behind a small clump of scrubby bushes.
It didn't take her long to hear what he had: a pair of muffled voices, and soft, nearly imperceptible footfalls. She couldn't be sure what flavor of big cat they were yet, but from the sound of it, she'd be able to see for sure soon enough. Her gaze flicked back to Lucifer, careful so as to avoid missing any signal as to what he wanted her to do.

Lucifer watched with narrowed eyes, peering between a crack in two rocks of his chosen hiding spot. A flick of his tail, his nose twitching to scene the air, too much blood in the air to smell if there were others nearby, which also meant the lionesses would not smell them either.
The fiery lion was quiet for some time, only watching, not daring to make a sound that would alert them. Judging from their behavior, it seemed they were hunting, following the trail of the prey beasts. What Lucifer could not discern was whether or not the pair was alone, or if there were others waiting for them.
Finally when they had moved off enough that they would not hear him, Lucifer turned to his sister, his voice quiet and hushed, his paws moving in gestures as he spoke, as if he were speaking with his paws more than his voice.
"We will ignore them for now. We can track them later and find their camp and any loot they have."
A glance toward the sky, the clouds were growing oddly dark.
"Let's go, we should find shelter."

Hila was frozen, barely breathing in case she exhaled too loud and gave them away. When Lucifer...well, she supposed that spoke was the only correct term for it, although he seemed to be using his paws as much as his words, she listened attentively, then finally nodded, eyes narrowed.
At his final addition, she blinked, surprised to find she agreed with him about finding shelter - when had the sky grown so dark? Had she been that distracted by their hunt that she hadn't noticed, or had it just changed that rapidly? With a small, self-directed shake of her head, she slinked back from her vantage point, crawling slowly on her belly until she was well out of eyesight of where the lionesses still spoke in a hushed undertone.
Without waiting, she began looking for a convenient hidey-hole, or sufficient foliage to protect them from the worst of the elements. She might love storms, but that didn't mean she treasured being soaked the skin if she could avoid it.
