The Crown Prince was ashamed to say it but he wished, sometimes, that his mother did not wake up every morning with a list of duties for him to perform. The rogue life had not been easy, that was certainly true, but he had been offered the liberty to roam and hunt and his responsibilities seemed so much simpler in those days: protect and provide. Now, at best, he was roaming from sun up to sun down between lions and places of interest.
There was never time to rest or relax, to make friends or, he was ashamed to think it, find a lover. He should have been proud to be the Crown Prince and eager to make his mother certain of the heir she had produced but it was hard and he was tired. Today, at least, he had been given a rather simple instruction: meet with Katiti and make sure no one wandered off towards the crevice. It was odd that such a bizarre, dangerous happenstance was creating ease within his day.
The early morning found him making his way towards the shallow cavern Katiti had been using to consult with vessels, though as he neared it he realized it wasn't in use today. It left a sigh on his maw as he looked away from it and out to the lands around it, searching for any sign of a lion or a raven but at first seeing naught. It would have been a lot easier had he the sight; did the Queen's Soul know he was looking for her?
Just as he was about to turn away and try his luck elsewhere, he noticed that the great expanse of redstone wasn't quite so lonely as he first thought. It was hard to tell at a distance but he noticed, at last, the red lioness not too far from where he stood. With a renewed pep in his step, he shifted forward and aimed to cut her path off so that he might get her help.
"Excuse me, you're.. Kat's apprentice, aren't you?"
