[Oba] Tumbleweeds (Reillan and Yithiron) FIN

Reillan 1

Reillan sat on Xarthin who had come back from training very much a different janarim, he had well manners now. Those specialists in Matori that his brother recommended may be young but they sure knew what they were doing. He would be sending a better tip down to them.
He had come to the market to answer an add for a guard. There was someone about who needed some protection and Reillan was saving for a life event which may soon happen. He would not let himself fall into destitution. He glanced around looking for his proprietor or competition perhaps.

Yithiron 1

Yithiron slithered through the crowd appearing beside the big dark janarim and his dark rider. He couldn't really call the rider big being quite a bit taller than him, but well his hair was impressive. “You the fellow calling for a guard?” He asked incredulously. This bloke looked like he could quite fend for himself thank you very much, what with all the armor and the generally surly expression, not to mention the freakishly large janarim.

Reillan 2

Reillan felt his eye twitch, but tried not to show it to the other man who stood in black before him. They matched in clothing at least. “Um, no, I'm here to find the client looking for a guard though, as I presume you are.” He eyed the other man, he was lacking sword or hammer, just a hefty dagger at the mans waist. A guard you would not see coming, how unsuttle.

What looked like a treasure hunter appeared.

Yithiron 2

He watched the new comer expectantly, this must be the client or this man and he would look very foolish. The new man was clad in rich red silks that flowed in the air, treasure hunters usually wore fine and sturdy clothing. This one didn't seem to like to get dirty. “Hello, I imagine that you are the gentleman looking for some guards. I was wondering what the task was please?”

Reillan 3

Reillan turned to watch the treasure hunter's face while the leaf man distracted him. He didn't particularly like what he found there, but work was work, It always bade well to watch ones back anyhow. The man went on to explain that he was looking for some special runic stones for a buyer in the city and that they may be found in a big cave deep in the desert.

Sounded like a walk in the park, nothing was all that easy that started with “Well, its in the desert you see....” Blegh. It was going to be a hot and sticky mess. He should back out now.

Yithiron 3

Well this sounded like quite the trip, maybe it would help to relieve his chronic boredom. He frowned at the other man, he hoped the oban wasn't going to be a pain in the butt. Who had hair that long anyway that was a real warrior. It was just aching to be used as a weakness in a fight. His own hair was shorn short for a reason, well and he didn't need any other defining feature marking him out from the crowd. No one here knew his real profession and if he had been practicing his profession properly he wouldn't have to take a guard job in the first place.

Reillan 4

He stayed, because he needed the cash. “Well it looks like two of us answered your add but I suggest you find a mount for our friend here, his legs are not long enough to take him over the sand if the distance we are going is greater than a few leagues. He would not keep up with my janarim and that sprightly Xaraan you have over there.” He watched the treasure hunter consider his options, “Very well,” he said. “Wait here, I'll come back with a mount.”

Yithiron 4

He eyed the oban with speculation. “Thank you for your consideration, My Lord, is it?” He hadn't fancied walking that long in the desert either, trying to keep up with two beasts would be incredibly hard, well impossible really. Still he was a big man and hadn't spent a lot of time riding anything, he hoped that whatever the man found was rather sturdy.

The Treasure Hunter came back and led a radaku with him. “His name is well, his name is whatever you want it to be.” Yithiron took the rope, Struck with inspiration he named his new companion Thorn.

“You will return him at the end of this venture, or you may pay off the fee for him, its up to you.”

Reillan 5

Reillan eyed the creature. Small and fast, he had seen radaku do well in the desert as long as they were provided with enough water. It would work for their venture at least. He patted his janarim, a true desert creature and thus superior in stamina to the other two if not speed. It was going to be a long, long trip he could tell.

He watched the leafling and the radaku interested in what would happen next.

Yithiron 5

Yithiron was nervous but brave so he stepped up to the radaku which eyed him doubtfully. He stretched out a hand and offered it to the beast hoping that he passed muster. The radaku sniffed at him, then paused, looked at him again and sat down. This Thorn took as an invitation.

He placed his hand on the radaku's head and felt the soft fur with its tough guard hairs. It was pleasant and besides his perzi Yithiron hadn't been closer to many other creatures before, it gave him a kind of extra rush that he wasn't used to except at that point where you had just stolen something from someone and your fate was held in the balance of whether or not they noticed in time to catch you or start the alarm.

Reillan 6

“Better get on pup, its time to go.” The sooner he started the sooner he could come back to Varinia. He shook his head, why hadn't he just gone to the battle area and started a round robin, he could have gotten gold that way, albeit with a bit more risk to his face. He checked the secure straps on his sword to make sure that if Xarthin loped he would not loose his precious weapon.

He turned around to see the Treasure Hunter already gone he started to follow.

Yithiron 6

He had started to dance with the radaku, he was trying to get on and the radaku seemed to think it was some sort of game. It would dance around and around and he would try again. He was aware he was being watching by the Oban, he didn't particularly care, he had bigger issues at the moment.

“Stand still!” He gasped while trying to out slither his mount. He couldn't help but smile though, it was so funny! Eventually he managed to get the radaku to stay still and he got on. It felt strange being on the back of a beast, it moved different and he had to adjust to the rhythym or risk loosing his seat.

He caught up to the others quick enough but he wasn't by any means comfortable yet!

Reillan 7

Reillan chuckled and decided to take some pity on the leafling. “Don't worry, you will get the hang of it, but your bum might be a bit sore at the end of the day. Pack warm sand on the muscles before bed.”

It might not bring down the inflamation but it would unknot the muscle when they stopped for the night. Painful lessons he too had learned along with his brother on long bothersome rides in the desert and across the rest of Tendaji.

He smiled at the memories, he hoped their children got to experience travel like that. It had been an enjoyable but stressful time.

Yithiron 7

“Thanks, thats very comforting.” Yithiron adjusted himself again, how did shifters make this look so easy it was like riding a weasel! Once he had more of a good seat he decided to see how fast the thing could actually go, squeezing slightly he nudged the radaku and it bolted off with high yips of joy followed and interwoven into his “WOOOOOOW!”

It was so fast it brought tears to his eyes they had caught up with the Xaraan. This was a wild terrifying ride and he felt something awaken in him again, something that had disapeared after he had lost Ime. Life had returned to him.

Reillan 8

“Brave sap.” He said as he urged Xarthin up to a better speed in case he had to clean up the leaf litter if the radaku lost its rider. He missed his brother, this was one of the first things he had done without Keelthy and he felt the absense of his brother like a gaping hole in his chest. Keelthy would not be far, they were not leaving Oba, he would return to his brother and his woman soon enough.

He could feel something pulling him back starkly against the lure of the wild desert. Storm clouds promised rain that likely would not come, but lightling may. He wondered if the radaku could dodge the bolts.
