[DUEL] Another try! (Weupe & Nymiak)

He’d taken a little time, just enough to recover from his bruises, enough time to stop his head from spinning, enough time to feed well and get his strength up properly.

He hadn’t given up yet. It was far from over. He had to try again. He was a little disappointed in himself, his belief in the fates, in the fact that this was home hadn’t really disappointed him, his own strength had.

The lady whom he seemed to be intertwined with, kept on beating him. She didn’t hold back, he didn’t even expect her to, but every time she beat him he felt a deep disappointment in himself. He wanted to be home already, he wanted time to speak to the lady when she wasn’t beating him around the head.

He chuckled to himself and roared. She would come, he knew she would come.

Nyimak recognized that roar.

For a long moment she sat, debating whether or not she would rise to the challenge. The Desert Ghost had returned, and she wasn't sure whether or not it was worth her time to meet him. Ah, but the maroon coated lioness felt her paws itch, and a desire to fight over ruled her own haughty nature. It would be a let down if she didn't reply to his call. If anyone was going to keep this Ghost out, it would be her!

Besides... These battles were practically becoming routine for her. What else might she do with her afternoon if not challenge the ghost who could not win? She stood and roared her challenge back. Making her way to where Weupe waited, she didn't hesitate. She charged, throwing her weight behind her attack, so she might land a blow.

"You just can't get enough, can you?" She questioned, fangs bared.

And there she was, majestic, maroon, charging...

The pale male took the hit, why he always forgot she was always full tilt, made him chuckle. There was something about this lady that kept him coming back. It was becoming less and less about being a part of the pride. Though he wanted that of course. The draw was that she was here challenging him, forcing him forward.

Of course her hit caused him to stumble and he took a step back to shake his head. “I figure if I come back enough times you’ll let me in eventually.” He grins.  

[Uta]

The fact that the lion just seemed to take it only frustrated Nyimak further. She bristled and took another swipe at the lion, feeling her paw connection for a second time. No, if he wasn't going to give her a battle to remember then she wanted this fight finished as soon as possible!

"Please. At this rate, natural selection will pick you off long before you manage to defeat me!"

The lioness wanted a real challenge--and she was disappointed this stranger missed his mark. She didn't necessarily want him to win... but another part of her DID want him to succeed. So he might become one of them, and show the battle-hardened spirit she knew had to be in there.

Again, a strike to his head. She really didn’t want to let up, she wasn’t letting him even get a word in today.

Her second strike once again sent him stepping backwards. Why couldn’t he find the power to strike back? To win? He needed a moment to think. Her strikes were relentless though so all he could do was move away as quickly as he could.

He knew he had to strike back to win but finding an opening was difficult.  

[Uta]

The lioness continued her assault, even as the pale coated male continued to make his retreat. Perhaps it was over-confidence, or maybe sheer frustration, but she went to land another blow and found him dodging out of the way. It was a glancing blow, but it also threw her off balance--and gave him an opening to attack if he wished!

The lioness felt a surge of annoyance at herself. She wouldn't call the Ghost easy to beat, but he certainly wasn't the most difficult opponent she'd met, either. Now, she was a tough lioness, certainly, and her ego told her that she was the sole reason he wasn't winning.... but another part of her was frustrated in his lack of display. Where was the fire? She'd been beaten in battles before, why couldn't he do it? And stranger still, why did she want to see him succeed?

Her initial charge had set him on the back foot and he didn’t seem to be making any headway. The female was just in such fine fettle. He felt like maybe his time was once again over.

The fates were really against him.  

[Uta]

Nyimak growled, eyes flashing in irritation. The lion missed again. This wasn't his best battle, even though he'd started out strong. What gave? "You're going to have to do better than that to enter this pride!" She snarled, tail flicking irritably behind her.

She swiped at the stranger again, hoping to make her mark. This battle was hardly worth either of their time. Hmph! This time, though, she felt herself graze him. If she wasn't already irritable, it would have put her in a mood, but at this point, the lioness just couldn't bring herself to care.

He could feel his defeat looming. It upset him quite a lot that he just couldn’t beat this lady, he’d tried so many times now and he really believed if she didn’t let him in he wasn’t going to get in.

Still he had clearly chosen the wrong day to try because he couldn’t seem to find his footing at all.

“I’ll be back.” He grinned, just a little as he took a few careful steps backwards. He would beat her one day he was certain, today was just not that day.
