[PRP] Lost in a strange Land [Enzi & Quba]

Enzi sighed a little as he followed his brother. Was he really following him to his new pride? His ears flattened against his head as he kept his low. It wasn’t like him to follow in other’s footsteps, but here he was. Following his brother. Did he make the right decision? Just because this new pride he was walking into was good for his brother, didn’t mean it was good for him.

He could head north. He heard about a pride that lived in the snowy mountains. The cold environment may be a pleasant change for him. He’s traveled though many different regions and many different climates. He lived in a jungle and wandered through countless desserts. Maybe it really was time for him to settle down. Find a new home since he really didn’t feel like his home was at “home” anymore. Even the area he was walking through didn’t feel right.

He wasn’t paying much attention to where he was going. He looked up to see himself surrounded by lions and lionesses and not one of them was his brother.

“Siri?” he called out into the crowd. “Siri, where are you? Siri? Ugh!”

The Orlands were definitely a lot different than the Bonelands. They didn't have the polygamous relationship with a single group of males, nor were they always on the mover. Instead, they were a stationary group, seemingly bound one monarch. They were trained to fight, so Quba could only assume they were a warlike group. Riza seemed to fit in well. She was already amongst a ranked position.

Quba? Quba was lazy. Quba didn't want to fight. She spent most of her days trying to sleep, and wasn't very successful at it! Not with the orange vizier looming over them, or the red claw when the other wasn't around.

Today, the lioness was finding a reason to get out of training. She spotted someone that seemed rather lost however. Well, this wasn't the place to be lost in, was it?

Shaking her head, she might've well lead the poor fool out before someone of rank caught him. "You there, I haven't seen you in the lands before. Are you wishing to become one of the unbranded here?" Quba asked, her tail flicking behind her lazily. She was doing her due diligence for the pride right now. That meant a day off in her future, right?

Enzi sighed as he gave up on the search for his brother. It was just his luck, getting lost in a strange place with strange lions and lionesses around. The area was just too big and too crowded. He thought about just leaving. Maybe he could escape before anyone would really notice him.

Too late.

A black lioness with markings on her face approached him. He looked around him. No one else seemed to have noticed he was there, even with him calling his brother’s name out into the crowd. He lowered his head as he made his way towards the female. What was she talking about? Unbranded?

“I’m sorry, I don’t know what you mean,” he said softly. “I asked my brother about his pride and he said he would show it to me if I followed him. Now I can’t find him and seem to be lost here…”

"Do you realize you are intruding on lands that aren't...the most friendly of to strangers?" Quba mused, her bright blue eyes lighting in amusement. She didn't care. She was still rather new here herself. However, she was sure if Ebbe or Atama decided to wander their way things would be different.

"This probably isn't the best lands to get lost in. Come, I will escort you out since you don't seem to want to join. Best move your feet quickly before one of the Scars or Shields see you." Quba advised, walking past the male, back towards the river which served as a nice border to the lands.

"Where did you lose him at?" Quba inquired.

Emzi sighed a little. “No… Siri didn’t really tell me anything when I was walking with him.” Enzi just watched the female. She was really trying to help him. That was something he wasn’t really used to.

“Yeah I figured it wasn’t when I got here,” Enzi said as he began to follow the female. What else was he supposed to do? Wait for his brother to find him or wait for another pride member to “escort” him out of the territory.

“I can honestly say I don’t remember,” Enzi answered. “Before I lost him, we were talking about how scattered brained I was, but this was different…” In truth, it was. He wasn’t thinking about a female as he wandered aimlessly in the rogue lands. Enzi was thinking about a new home and lost track of his brother who had said he would show Enzi his home. “Do you like it here?”

Quba gave the light brown lion a question stare before shaking her head, continuing to move forward.



“You’ve got to be careful when approaching other’s pridelands, regardless if you are following others or not. Some lands are not as hospitable as others. My old pride for instance, the males would run you off the minute you entered their borders, or possibly challenge you to a duel if they knew of any ill intentions including stealing their females.” The lazy lioness felt herself shrugging. “These lands are pretty similar in that aspect, except it’s not only the males you can battle, but also the females.” Enzi was lucky that Quba would rather sleep than fight. She was not an Outlander mindset whatsoever.



Well, he certainly seemed scattered brain if he lost his own family member.



Did she like it here? The question came to her as a surprise. “That’s a loaded question.” Quba advised, pausing midstep to think. “It’s got its ups. And it’s got its downs. I don’t care for the constant training the Claws put us through.” Whether it was Azzan, Atama or the Monarch’s Claw himself. “But, I do like staying in one place. Plus, if I decide to bear children, my options are more open than a select group of males.” Another shrug. Quba definitely had a more progressive mindset than her Bonelands upbringing would like.

“Yeah you’re right,” Enzi said as he followed the lioness. He listened to her talk about the pride she was from. To his surprise, it was very familiar to what Ayana had said about her pride. He was quite surprised about being able to fight females though. Maybe staying in this pride wasn’t such a bad idea, but this was his brother’s home. He didn’t want to impose.

“Staying in one place?” Enzi asked, a little confused. “Did you do a lot of moving around? Was your old pride nomadic?” He was also confused about the whole mating thing, but he didn’t want to ask about that. She was looking forward to her future, not the past. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t pry.”

Quba nodded as the river border came into view. Her bright blue eyes scanned behind her to verify no one had followed. Lucky for them, it was just the two of them now. If Atama or Ebbe decided to pop their head into their conversation, this boy would be on his own.

"We moved quite a bit. Following the herds, the males liked to say." Quba hated it. "Just when I would find the perfect spot to rest were we moving again." Of course, Amanzi, her sister, was always okay with it. One of the best huntresses in the pride, Quba had a lot to live up to with it.

She shrugged, shaking her head. "I don't care if you ask about it. That's my old pride now. This is my home." She patted the red clay to emphasize a point. "Just don't ask me much here. My answer will be a not sure."

"See these two rivers. This is how you can tell you entered our territory. I would be aware of it more next time."

“Ah.” It was the only thing Enzi could manage as they came up to the river. He was happy that they had made it this far without anyone following them. He seemed to remember crossing a river when he followed Siri into the territory. He looked at Quba and smiled slightly. He was happy he had made a friend.

“Thank you for this,” he said as he looked back at the river. “One day I will have to repay you. I’m Enzi. Maybe one day, we’ll meet again. Until then, farewell.” He then began to walk towards the river. This place wasn’t a good fit for him. One day, he’ll find a pride that would feel like home.

The dark lioness flashed a small smile. "Don't mention it. Literally." She grinned. The Outlands did not need the rap of being known as a group of helpful felines. If word god out...oh she'd be stuck in training for the rest of her life!

"Later. And, to not take this the wrong way, I hope our paths don't cross unless you are looking to join the pride." Quba advised. "Hopefully you find your brother."

The dark lioness watched until the male was no longer in sight. Once sastified, she turned around, staring right into the eyes of the dark red Claw.

"Oh. Atama..." At his frown, Quba sighed. "Yeah yeah, I know. Back to training." She sighed, which caused the male to smirk. She headed back towards the center of the land, the red Claw on her heels.
