    Starts: Now
Ends: After all joining rogues have been posted for, when the RP naturally ends (/dies)

This ORP will be the official joining RP for new pride members. In it, they will meet Nchekwube who will determine that they are welcome in the pride. The family that a rogue joins will also be determined here.

    A few notes:
  • It is assumed that at least one member of each family is present, specifically one member that will welcome rogues to their family.
  • That being said, this RP is not limited to rogues and one member of each family. It has been a long while since rogues were permitted to join, and all the hubbub has almost certainly brought onlookers.
  • Joining rogues must have been accepted in the "Joining" sticky before posting here.
  • Those that have been accepted in said sticky may post here hanging out and, at some point, approaching Nchekwube. When approaching Nche, just quote oo DeD with your reply and she'll reply back.
  • While you don't have to wait for Nche to have replied to the previous joining member who has approached him, he will respond to lions one at a time. In the response, a random number between 1-13 will be rolled to signify what family they are chosen to join. After the response and roll, you are welcome to post for a cert and update your ownerlist post!
  • Feel free to PM the mule or hit up DeD or Epine with any questions!

User Image Nchekwube took a breath. Then another, in and out. His eyes opened, lids fluttering a couple times before he blinked and looked to the sky. It was a nice day. The clouds inched across the clear blue like the didn't have a care in the world. Part of the young adolescent was a little jealous of that. Not having a care in the world.

His feet shuffled a couple of times beneath him. Nchekwube was a quiet lion. Quiet and shy and wanting nothing more than for those he loved to be happy and healthy. He disliked all the complicated things that had been going on in the pride recently. He disliked all the conflict, all the opposing opinions on how the pride should be run. He just wanted things to be simple. He just wanted things to be calm.

He wanted a life of simplicity but his drive towards what was right had led him here. In the spotlight. The subject of whispering rumors. He had been brought into the center of all this change. Not that he thought change was bad. He just wished everyone could be on the same page about it all.

The adolescent shook his head, his still-growing-in mane settling around him. No. This was the right thing to do. It was right to let those with good intentions to join their ranks. Stagnation was no good.

His head dropped and his eyes scanned the lands around him, trying to seek out the new faces. Nchekwube tried his best to sit tall and proper, though it only lasted a few moments before his straight spine felt uncomfortable and he took a more casual position.

Still, Nchekwube was ready.

Qamar had never been part of a pride before.

This...whatever you wanted to call it, initiation? was completely new to him. His felt his heart beating quickly in his chest. Was this what everyone felt like when joining a pride?

The dark green lion looked around. He saw some lions with smiles on their faces, the rogues asking for permission to join as well perhaps. Then, there were others, those whose eyes were hardened, frowns on their maws at the sudden appearance of the rogues. By the looks of it, not everyone was happy to see them here.

Qamar shook his head. He couldn't dwell on that. It was now or never. Turning back was not an option for him.

The galaxy maned male took a step towards the adolescent. He bowed his head to Nchekwube in a small greeting.

"Greetings," he said quietly. "I am Qamar."

The sight of the green and purple lion brought a smile to Nchekwube's face that was more excitement than nervousness. Individuals from the outside. What stories might they bring? What worlds might they have seen?

"Qamar," he repeated, giving a bow to the lion in return. "I am Nchekwube." Nchekwube was a lion clearly not used to being in a role of responsibility. He fell silent for a few long moments, looking intently into Qamar's eyes. Somewhere in the back of his mind, the adolescent had hoped everyone here had been filled in on what was to happen. On what the young lion would be doing. He didn't want to get the reputation of the strange youth that just stared into people's eyes.

Eyes still locked, Nchekwube's gaze became distant, almost glazed over, until a few moments passed and he seemed to snap back into it. The young lion seemed to almost sway, still not used to the trances that his strange ability put him under. Still, a smile crawled back into his face. "It is my most wonderful pleasure to welcome you as one of us," he said with an accepting nod.

Zuko stood with the rest of the pride members, watching curiously from a respectable distance. This was a momentous occasion after all, opening the border, and although he was skeptical of rogues joining so freely he did trust the visions of the young lion that stood between them and the newcomers. Nchekwube would be the keeper of the gates, so to speak, to keep the pride and its ways safe. Those that would rebel against everything they held close to their hearts would not be welcome here.

His eyes lingered on a rather bright female, his nose wrinkling in mild distaste. She was certainly pretty to look at but against all the pale, neutral coats within the pride she would certainly stick out like a sore paw.

Sawa was oblivious to the stares from Zuko, her dark eyes taking in all that surrounded her. Before her stood a young lion who they were to speak to before officially entering the pride and beyond him a gaggle of lions stood, whispering and looking at her and the other rogues that were joining. How exciting, she thought with a mild smile. She hadn't been a part of a pride since she was young and she did miss feeling a part of something. Being alone in the rogue lands had been nice but at the end of the day she realized she wanted to be among lions.

Waiting for the male in front of her to finish, Sawa stepped forward towards the young lion that was their 'test', so to speak. She gave him a small smile as well and bobbed her head in greeting before speaking, her voice soft and gentle. She could tell a kindred spirit when she saw one and this male was clearly not fond of being in the center of attention.

"Hello, young one. I am Sawa. I know you've only just begun but you are doing very well. Don't let the eyes of those behind you weigh on your shoulders."

At Sawa, Nchekwube gave a warm and gentle smile. "Thanks," he said in a soft voice that betrayed his timid nature. His ears flicked against his head for a moment and his tail flicked behind him. Responsibilities aside, Nchekwube was (and would probably always be) a youth at heart.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Sawa," he continued. His eyes met hers and, after a moment, gained that distant look, like he was caught in some gaze or that his mind was somewhere else completely.

After a few moments of direct eye contact, Nchekwube snapped back into it. He shook out his mane, his smile changing from meek to excited. "I hope you find your home well, here. Let no one convince you that you do not belong."

Anxiety tightened her chest, pushing the air out of her lungs and threatening to close her throat. It had been a long time since Demani had mingled with so many other lions, not before she had left on her pilgrimage. Looking at the life in this pride only brought back the memory of her returning to her homelands and finding... nothing. It was hard to shake the memory, like a nightmare that came to torment her every night.

Loneliness had propelled her forward to these strange lands, and when they offered to accept her she realized she could not turn away. Perhaps this was her second chance to belong somewhere. Rogue life had not been easy for the lioness, even though she should have been prepared for it. It wasn't as if her pride had cast her out into the world completely unskilled. But, she had struggled regardless and it showed. Her shape was already slender, but it was accentuated by the difficult life she endured on her own.

Her pink eyes fluttered almost nervously over the lions around her, wanting to befriend those but too... anxious to reach out. There was one lion she knew she needed to speak with, but it took her some time to build up the courage to approach Nchekwube. He was a young lion - his mane hadn't even grown in yet, and that for some reason put her at ease. She approached him after a wonderfully tropical lioness, her colors rich and pleasing to the eye. Demani in comparison was pale, white with greys and soft blues.

"Hello." She bowed her head sweetly to him.

It felt like she'd been walking forever to get here. After leaving the Mwezi'johari, the only home she had ever known, Nina-dini had found life... Hard. But the lingering pride in her prevented her from going back, admitting defeat... Facing the cubs she'd left behind that were a reminder of the family she'd lost and the lion she'd had such an unsavory encounter with.

The journey had been one of hardships, as she figured out how to hunt alone, to not die, to ward off unwanted advances even when part of her wanted that comfort. It had been aimless, her travels, until she'd found the caldera. When the earthquake had happened, it had naturally frightened her, until curiosity about the opening had won her over.

Here she was, now, a lost soul in a vast land, a new face in a sea of those that knew themselves and each other well. Even with several other new faces, she wondered... Could she find a place here? A breath in, a breath out. Her gaze fell on the tan and cream adolescent, watching him. She wondered, was he as nervous as she was?

It was a momentous day. Masikati had deigned to come out of where he usually shyly hid away, his curiosity about the newcomers far outweighing his desire to avoid them. While strangers could bring disease and conflict, they could also bring new blood, something he was painfully aware they needed. After all, except for his gender and the coloration of his markings and tail tuft, he looked nigh-identical to his own mother. He looked every bit the son of Kamili.

When he saw the orange lioness, he couldn't help but recoil slightly. While granted he popped out with his white coat, with only one other lion besides he and his mother being nearly as white as they were, he still found the lioness too bright for his visual liking. The strange green male with the large spots, too, made him blink. Did... Did lions really come in that shade of green? Oh, but his mane... His mane looked like it was full of starlight! As if twilight had been captured and grown from his back.

Masikati spied two other lionesses, one more muted greys and the other cream with purple and blue scale-like markings. The muted greys he found more visually appealing, gentle and soft, while the cream lioness' markings made him think of some kind of reptile. Not in a bad way, of course, but still a reptile. He let out a sigh and found a spot to sit, simply watching everybody.

"Hi," the adolescent responded with a gentle smile. His tail curled around him and his body shifted as he stretched out then settled back into a comfortable posture. This lioness was pale, and her voice was sweet. The lion bowed his head back to her in return. "My name is N-nchekwube," he started, his voice catching for a moment. He cleared his throat.

His head tilted to the side in a curious nod as he looked to her. As they made eye contact, his eyes grew hazy. When he snapped back to it a few moments later, the adolescent shifted his shoulders and tried to shade the dizzyness from his head. It was going to be a long day.

"I welcome you here, miss," he said softly, somehow feeling compelled to talk to the lioness in quiet and gentle tones. "This may be your home now, if you'll have it."

As each new rogue-turned-member walked over, Naani slunk her way through the crowd and watched with cool pink eyes. Things were changing, that was for sure. The pride had been so cut off from others that it was strange seeing all these new faces. And such bright pelts! That was new too.

Naani tilted her head to the side as she found a nice shadowy spot to sit in. Secluded from the others, but in well enough view to watch the proceedings. Honestly, she'd rather be off doing her own thing, perhaps visiting her snake friend, but... someone needed to represent the Uju family.

Who knows, perhaps they'd gain some more members. Maybe it would even throw off some of the disdain from allowing Imani to join their family.

She let out a snort. Gossip-mongers, the lot of them. The Uju were in desperate need of more people, so she saw no reason not to allow rogues to join. Besides, it's not like she could turn a mother and her cubs away. She'd caused enough grief to last a lifetime already....

Curling her paws underneath her, Naani settled in to watch.

Nchekwube was looking better. from the last time she had seen him and gave a bow of her head and a low greeting as she passed by. "I am glad to see you taking part in this." The youth in this pride needed to be part of the change that was happening, she knew some of the older members were having issues, but they'd adjust in time. They all would.

She just hoped that none brought illness with them. But new life was a good thing and should be cherished.

"Welcome to the Akaraaka family. I do hope you find it to be the home you've always hoped for." Uncertain of the pale females past it was hard to say if she was running away from things or to them. Perhaps she'd share some of her history in time, she wasn't one to pry so soon. "My name is Juu."

"It's nice to meet you, Nchekwube," Demani replied sweetly. With two soft-spoken and out-of-place lions, it was clear that the conversation was going to take a couple of minutes to take its course. But then, the young male got a weird look in his eye, as if the clouds from the sky had taken over his sight. Surely he could see? But there seemed to be a depth hidden behind those eyes as they stared at her, into her? For a moment she was unsettled, at least until he seemed to return to himself.

The smile upon her maw was gentle, but nervous. "Thank you, I... I would like that." How strange, but who was she to judge? She was sure not everyone would consider her normal as well.

Looking back over her shoulder, she noticed a grey lioness approaching them. Giving Nchekwube another small bow, she turned away from him to greet the stranger. "Oh, thank you for that. Perhaps... you could show me around some time?" She didn't mean to intrude too much upon the other, but while she had decided she wanted to be a part of this pride, there was so much she still needed to learn of it. Especially when it concerned her new family.

"Ah, oh. My name is... it's Demani." The name Susi'mimiteh had died when she had stumbled upon her barren homelands.

Daisha looked curiously around what she hoped would be her new home. It had been a long journey, both in distance and in experience, for her to arrive there, and for the first time in a long time, she felt hope. The lioness was exhausted and lonely, so stumbling across this new pride seemed to be a blessing and a sign that her strife was soon to be over.

Of course, she would have to work to make sure she was valued among them. It had been so long since she met lions from a pride not from her birth pride, or any pride lions at all, she was worried her social skills weren't quite up to the task. She lingered slightly behind a few others who had come for the same purpose as she, and watched how they acted.

They were to meet a youth, who would judge them and place them with their new family. Daisha was intrigued. How did one so young end up with such a responsibility? He must have had quite the blessing set upon him, or did he feel that it was a curse?

Then she found that those she was hiding behind had begun to disperse, leaving her exposed. Daisha swallowed her nervousness, and approached Nchekwube with quiet, cautious steps.

"Hello, I am... Daisha'rajya. Daisha," she greeted him, trying her best to look calm. Her voice make an unpleasant crack, dry from lack of use. She swallowed again, hoping he didn't notice, or if he did, he wouldn't mind. Her name from her Swampie days was a long one, and while others may have chosen to abandon theirs, her name was who she was, and she cherished it.

Urupuru sat to one side, he was proud of his son, although he still felt the boy was too young for such a responsibility. He was here to watch quietly. His child had so much to give to this ceremony, it was a lot for a young male not yet fully grown. He wanted to protect his sons youth but he had been given such a blessing, a blessing that he was expected to use. He could see the truth and as the Nchwebe’s father, he owed it to him to show his support.

“If you need a little break let me know.” He smiled gently at his child. He was here to look after the boy, he needed the support of his family, especially with such high expectations from the pride.

The small chubby lioness toddled towards the pale cream and orange male. She was nervous. She had lived alone for most of her life, but the need for family, for friends had pulled her towards a pride. She had heard whispers about this pride, this pride of pale lions who had unusual customs but also had deep family bonds. “My name is Magnellanic, my mother always called me Mags.” she smiles introducing herself to the young male her deep blue eyes meeting his.

She needed that, she needed a bond, a family, a life. She waited her turn quietly, she bowed her head to the dappled male and smiled her dark eyes smiling. “Thank you for allowing me to join your pride.” She shuffled her paws nervously, she wan’t very good with social situations, but this was an important one, she had to learn to be social so she could be a part of this family, this pride.

Mgbamizu felt himself watching the scene before him. He would be lying if he had thought he'd see rogues being welcomed into the pride so soon! He watched the first lion take a step forward. His face was neutral, in anticipation of what was happening. Would new members join the Aguu? Or perhaps, maybe the Agha or Agadi family? Light eyes scanned around for Isithunzi. Recently, she had accepted his proposal, and was to move from her family to his.

He was dreading the moment of telling his mother....But he couldn't keep their relationship a secret too much longer.

The quiet lion couldn't focus on that right now. He watched the first initiate, a large green lion, get into his family, and shortly after, another lioness joined! A wide grin was on his maw, as he approached the two lions. "Ah, Welcome to the Aguu!" He greeted warmly. Mgbamizu always had a thing for rogues, so finally getting to meet one was exciting to him.

Qamar bobbed his head in greeting. "Thank you," he said quietly, spotting the rogue female he had met in the roguelands. How did she end up here too? He gave the female the side eye, shaking his head. He didn't want to deal with her just yet.

Mgbamizu spotted Zuko, his self proclaimed friend not too far from them. He waved the dark lion over, a smile on his face. "Zuko! Come over here!"
