History told him that ranks meant a world of difference from the bottom, to the top. So when the opportunity presented itself, whether it was for his pelt or not, he took it. Consort to a Queen, the Queen. Ashiki had given him an opportunity that the young lion hadn't anticipated in his lifetime - he was royalty.
Of course he understood his place though, more so when he was introduced to her sons and daughters. Kethiwe stuck out in his mind. Ashikis son had been hand selected to take her place if and when she should perish. The thought left a sour taste in his mouth. What made matters worse was that Kethiwe wasn't much younger than Ska himself, this itself was strange.
Their tension, whether or not it could be felt from both sides, was silent. Ska was formal, and polite to the young prince. This individual would become his King one day, a fact that wasn't lost on him, but hadn't impeded the pride he had either. Today he hoped to relieve the pressure a little bit, seek out Kethiwe, have a little chat.
If anyone asked him in a straight forward manner about his intentions he'd have answered that 'there is a dueling system for a reason'.
"Kethiwe?" The lions den was his first choice, Ska wasn't beyond making house calls as necessary. He didn't say another word though and opted to seat himself in a comfortable silence. He'd give the silence a good few moments before moving on to seek the lion elsewhere.
