[PRP] What the Heck are You? (Duana x Bronach)

Duana shook herself as she rose to her paws, stretching out her limbs one after the other. She had found some shelter in a little cave for the daytime and was eager to get out and see what she could find for food. The young lioness had been on her own for a while now and found that she was pretty good at catching small game, but perhaps tonight she'd try to nab a baby antelope for herself. She'd been practicing sneaking up on the herds the past few nights and was getting pretty good at it.

Leaving her makeshift home, Duana strolled slowly through the tall grass and into a little clearing. The sun was still in the process of setting so she wouldn't begin hunting for a while yet. She much preferred to use her coloration to her advantage, stalking prey at night when she was much harder to see.

For now, though, she was content to simply stroll alone through the rogue lands, seeing where her paws would take her.

Broanch was up in a low hanging tree looking out at the darkness his favorite time he wasn't a fan of the daytime he spent most of it sleeping in a tree somewhere coming out at night to hunt which was what he did just as the sun was setting. He had a dead gazelle up in the tree with him which he intended to keep for himself until he was ready to toss the rest to the vultures. He took a bite out of the middle of his meal and enjoyed his evening as it grew ever darker. Making it easier for him to hide in the darkness. He didn't try to hide his scent or the scent of his kill confident that he could deal with any interlopers.

The scent of blood caught Duana's nose, the wind carrying the smell from the east. She paused and glanced in the direction it was coming from, curious as to the source. Perhaps there had been a kill and whatever had taken it down had left, full already or perhaps chased off by something else. Although she was confident Duana knew she was just one young lioness and couldn't fight off a whole pack of hyenas on her own, but there was no noise or oppressive smells coming with the blood.

Deciding to investigate, the lioness changed her path and headed east, following the smell. The sun left the sky as she walked, leaving everything a fiery red that was slowly dimming to a darker hue, the darkness of night creeping in slowly. Finally she pinpointed the smell as she spotted an antelope leg dangling from a tree.

"How did that-"

But even as she spoke she spotted the dark feline up in the tree with the dead creature. Although young, Duana had seen many different animals out in the rogue lands. Hyenas, wild dogs, cheetahs...but this one was different. He was much thicker in build than a cheetah but no where near as large as her mother had been. His tail didn't end in a tuft and he had no mane whatsoever. And yet he was up in a tree with an entire gazelle!

"Well, that's a fancy trick," she said, gazing up at the pair in the tree. "What kind of weird creature are you?"

Bronach cocked his eyebrow though he wasn't sure if the young lioness would be able to see him in the dying light. "What never seen a leopard before little lioness?" His arrogance was clear in his tone, he didn't care if he was being rude if it got him what he wanted. He was full but he wasn't going to give the young lioness his kill out of the kindness of his heart considering it was questionable if he had kindness in his heart for pretty much anyone. Bronach looked out for himself. He had no intention of joining a coalition since he didn't care about anyone else's needs he wouldn't waste his time pretending he cared about others.

A leopard, huh? She had heard of them but she had never seen one up until now. About her size which meant they were smaller than lions, but he was pretty far up in that tree...interesting.

"Now I have," Duana said with a little snort, tail swishing back and forth as she gauged just how high she could jump. There was a bit of a leg dangling over the edge of the branch that she might be able to reach if she timed it right. Letting her golden gaze slide back to the leopard, she bared her teeth in a very unfriendly grin.

"Pretty good at climbing, huh? Is that just you or is that all leopards?"

He looked down at the young lioness and wondered why she was so curious about leopards in the first place. "I imagine some aren't good at climbing, not ever lion is good at hunting." He wasn't strange for an adolescent to be off on their own so he didn't really care about her at all. "Now you should get kid." He said taking another bite of his food and yawning she was a boring little lioness. He licked his mouth to clean the blood away from his face then licked his paw to clean himself up a bit more.

Duana sat beneath the tree, eyes calculating the distance between the branch and the ground. The dangling leg of the prey beast was within jumping distance...but would it pull free from her weight alone or would the leopard have time to defend his dinner? Best to distract him, she decided.

"Yeah, maybe I should," she said, rising to her feet. She waited and watched for the perfect moment and when he lifted a paw to clean himself up, she pounced. The jump wasn't the highest she'd ever made but it was difficult to try to grab the gazelle leg at the same time. Still, she managed, and she sank her teeth into the leg of the beast. Unfortunately her weight wasn't enough to yank the leg off and she was left dangling in the air until the gazelle began to slip from the tree.

Broanch cocked his eyebrow at the reckless young lioness and watched her dangle as his weight held up the dead gazelle. "And what made you think this was a good idea kid?" He said is a cold tone. Then he moved and let the kill and the young lioness fall to the ground. "You're not full grown yet a full-grown leopard vs. an adolescent lioness you played your cards foolishly." He said jumping down from the tree to glare at the young lioness. "What are you going to do next kid?" He said in a harsh tone.

Duana met the leopard's gaze even as she dangled from the kill, but her eyes widened in surprise as he shifted to let her and the gazelle fall. She let go and twisted in the air to land on her feet but the dead weight of the beast fell on top of her, pinning her to the ground for a moment. By the time the leopard was on the ground she managed to wiggle free, chest heaving as she looked between the food and the male. Although she was confident in her abilities and they were about the same size, he definitely had more muscle mass and experience than her. While she was feisty and ready to fight, she wasn't stupid.

Glancing back at the kill she saw a decently sized chunk of meat hanging from the leg she had grabbed. Judging her timing and distance she lunged forward, ripped the mouthful of food off he gazelle, and took off. She'd leave the rest for him and hopefully he'd be glad she was gone and not give chase.

Broanch laughed and snorted, then rolled his eyes, kids were kids it seemed full of bravado. He didn't need the kill so he headed off in the other direction if the kid came back she could have the rest of the kill or the jackals or other creatures of the land would feast. He didn't really care one way or another.
