Lumina felt scared.

There was something changing with Him. After stumbling upon him when she was a cub, she had spent her entire life with him. She learned very quickly that he would do whatever she asked of him, and so she had demanded the world. They had never done anything too dramatic, but a cub in control of destruction was something dangerous. She had matured past that, but enjoyed playing her own little games with him in tow.

But he was changing. Perhaps he had been awake for too long, but Lumina got questions from him. They were nothing too invasive, but he used to do whatever she demanded without a second thought. There was something building up inside of him, and Lumina was afraid that she was going to lose the one thing that had been constant in her life; him.

The evening was chilly. He was dozing next to her, another god that had picked up mortal habits because she had told him to sleep, to eat. The small lioness had tucked herself next to him, his massive form dwarfing her size even more. Her blue eyes watched him carefully, wondering what it was that was changing him. Was it her finally being grown up? Somehow, whatever magic had held over them had worn off? Or was it that her dragging him everywhere, forcing him to do work and detroy things, somehow unlocking his memories? Just the thought of losing him, of him leaving her, made her stomach churn. There was nothing else in this world for her but him, and her visions of proceeding in guiding him towards what he was looking for. The fact that she never saw past that future didn't scare her anymore. Was that when he left her? Was that when she died? Or was the chance of actually finding what he searched for so small that there was no was to predict the future beyond that?

Again, she tucked herself closer to him. The little lioness wasn't sure what her feelings towards him were. He was the other half to her, but it wasn't something like love. It was the fact that she didn't know how to breathe without having him at her side. All of her visions included him. They had done everything together. And as Lumina grew up, she delighted in mental torture, in maiming, and even wouldn't put herself past murder. It kept life interesting, and it forced the two of them to always be on the move. He was something unkillable, but she didn't want to share her prize with anyone. What would happen if someone figured out how to take Him away from her, to control Him as she did? That thought sent another shiver down her spine. That would never be allowed to happen.

She shifted, and she could feel him shift as well in response to her movement. She watched the wisps of darkness curl around his wings, the very shape of those wings fading in and out of existence. It was meditative to look at, as the stars in that void reflected the stars in the sky.

Somehow, he knew that she was staring. One large golden eye opened, looking at her. Instead of feeling the warmth of familiarity, the dart of fear penetrated Lumina again. He was not a god to show emotions, but she still couldn't shake the feeling that something was different. He watched her carefully, noticing the slight increase in heart rate, how her own eyes seemed to widen. He was beginning to realize the fog in his mind was lifting, and though Lumina had been a decent guide for him, she had been putting off his mission in favor of chasing petty squabbles. He had been careful in asking questions, but that deep desire to kill his parents was returning, and he could only squash it down for so long.

Still, he was noticing her avoidance in answering his questions. What were they doing out here, and how would it lead them to his task? Whenever he thought about his parents, his heart enflamed into a rage that he couldn't quite explain. He knew little of them, and hadn't seen them in a very long time. What was it that drove him to such desire? Was destruction something merely personal, selfish, all for himself? Or were these actions he so rightfully wanted to take the start of something more?

And yet, every time he asked these sorts of questions, Lumina would only reply that they were getting closer. To his eyes, it seemed like she was leading him away from this purpose....but for what end? To selfishly tie a leash on him, like a pet?

His trust and patience in her was wavering. He had spent many years with her, but it seemed like she herself was succumbing to his influence. She was beginning to panic, and the destruction of her life around her was forcing her into rash decisions. They were no where near the lands they had been a year prior, and yet he felt as if it was the right area. His task would become complete there, and he yearned to go back.

If she refused him, Mwisho would have to handle her for one last time. Partners or not.

Lumina forced herself to relax, and offered her partner a sweet smile. "Sorry if I woke you," she whispered, the moon hanging high above them. His eye seemed to have too much clarity to it....the fog of his long slumber had certainly been shaken off at this point. "Go back to sleep...we have a busy day tomorrow." She tucked her head onto her paws, feeling as the god shifted just a bit more as he willed himself back to sleep as well.

As the quiet night returned to them, the fear of that eye crept back into Lumina's brain. As long as he continued to trust her, and as long as she made sure to work towards his goal....everything would be all right.
