Strange Weather ☂

Solo or RP Format
Counts as 5 RP growth Points
Solo word minimum is 750, RP post minimum is 7

Prompt

As Spring rolls into Summer in Tendaji it appears that something is not as it should be. In fact, strange and unpredictable weather is happening all across the world. Strong storms, bizarre heat waves, unheard of snow storms, floods, and other similar events are happening in all of the countries. Some are superstitious, seeing it as a warning of great evil, others blame the Dretch, some shrug it off as a freaky incident, and others ignore that it's even such an oddity.

However, one thing is certain - all the lands are dealing with these weird weather outbreaks in their own way. How are you handling matters? Do you try to help others, are you too focused on yourself, or do you want to try and find answers for the causes behind these recent events? Or did you get caught out in the disaster yourself and these are your memories of how you had to fight against the odds to get to safety?

Basically this is a solo (or a rp with a friend) to write out how your character is being affected by these strange occurrences in Tendaji.

Please see the below to see what is occurring in each region!

Chibale and Matori are both suffering from snow - something that has rarely hit these warmer countries before! A blizzard especially is unheard of.

Jahaur and Yael are experiencing drought. Rain hasn't fallen for the last couple of weeks...

Tale, Sauti, and Oba are experiencing massive amounts of rain to the point that some of the desert is flooding.

Zena is having the strangest heat wave and some areas once covered year-round with snow and ice are even starting to melt...

Belrea is shaken. Literally. A huge earthquake has ripped through the continent scaring many and even now faint rumbles from its impact shift at random beneath your feet

At first the weather had no effect on anything. Having a few dry days was seen as a blessing because one did not end up soaked to the bone by the usual rainfall. A jungle was usually always wet. Novali took advantage of the dryness and focused on his training. He had managed to improve on several techniques by the time he really started to worry about the lack of rain.

It really happened when his mother asked him to go fetch some water from a near by pond. Novali knew that still water was no good to drink unless it was purified and it worried him that his mother would be asking for it. ”Do we not have anymore in the storage?” He asked her.

At the solemn shake of her head he frowned and looked toward his little sister who looked as though she were miserable without the rain. So he nodded his head and turned to leave the house before his sibling could ask to go with him. Novali didn't like telling her no but he knew that letting her tag along would push her to her limits and she was already frail. He did not want to be responsible for her collapsing or for making her upset.

He was lucky enough to escape the house without her notice so he grabbed the bucket that he would take with him and he moved on toward the thicker trees where he knew the pond would be. It was at least a five minute walk away but he was in no hurry. No one was dying of thirst after all. That and running in the dry heat would make him thirsty and he didn't want to be tempted to drink the pond water. He could, however, go for a dip when he got there. Cool himself off before returning.

It was a good idea and one that he rather liked. It would cool him down and relax his muscles after days of training. So he picked up the pace but didn't outright run. Novali was just excited to have those few moments to relax. When he got there though he noticed that the pond had shrunk a good deal. It was nothing more than a large puddle. Muddy puddle. For a long moment he stood there and stared. Nova obviously was not going to be getting water from there. So he started to think about where else he could get some water to take home. Since the pond was dried up he figured that moving water would still be flowing somewhere. That meant he needed to go to the river. Or a creek.

The closest moving body of water to him and his home was a small creek but it was in the other direction and another thirty or so minutes walk. Not wanting to waste anymore time simply staring at the muddy hole where the pond used to be he turned on his heels and started back toward his house. In no time at all he was crossing the yard where he spotted his father returning home from the market.

“Hey Novali, where ya going?” His dad asked him.

”Mom asked for a bucket of water. The pond has dried up so I'm going to the creek.” He noticed that his father seemed surprised by the news.

In fact his dad looked toward the pond with a worried expression. “If it doesn't rain soon the creek might dry up as well.” It was something that Nova didn't want to hear and likely something that his dad didn't want to say.

“You go get a bucket for now and later we'll both go and get more to fill our barrels.” He motioned for his son to get going.

Nova nodded his head and continued on his way. With the bucket in his hand he thought back to what his dad had just said. If he was worried enough that he thought the creek would dry up then he wondered what it was that was causing the weather to act so strangely. Were one of the gods or goddesses upset with them? It made sense that they would deprive them of the life giving water the rains provided if they were furious. Not that Novali knew what had upset them so much. Though he did wander if perhaps the new enemy, the Dretch, had anything to do with it. Could a mage control the weather? He didn't think so. But, could a whole bunch of them control the weather? Novali worried that if they acted as one then they might be able to stop the rains from falling. He kept the thought to himself and when he reached the creek he noticed that it was low but it still had water to spare. The young hybrid quickly got his bucket full then headed back. There was a question he wanted to ask his father.
