Blood-red eyes narrowed as their owner surveyed the border of the pride he knew made their home here. It had been some time since Kalaran's (insane) father had bade him find and enter this pride, and he knew it was quite likely that he was starting to run short on time. The god of hatred himself did not accept failures gracefully, and for all his madness he was a difficult diety to completely avoid. But it didn't matter that much, really. The god-born seer would simply do as he was told until something else attracted his sire's fickle attention.

For now, that entailed being a conspicious presence on the border until Kalaran was challenged. He smirked to himself and stretched lazily. Let them think he had all the time in the world.

The only one fit to accept the challenge of one born from god-blood was one who was the same. Well... not exactly the same. Age and death would not claim Mkhai for quite some time, and his blood was not mixed with the inferior blood of mortals. Yet, here he was in mortal guise, pretending the world around him was just as strong as he was. He had to wonder how unusual it was for a god to fully commit themselves to such a game. Mkhai had goals and plans, but to reach those he had to play along with the pride's beliefs.

He had to be weak for them so that he could make children to be so very strong for the pride. He would see the Myrsky Syntynyt grow stronger, see it grow and claim more of the lands around it. Their strength was appealing, and with his assistance he did not see why they could not claim everything the pride could ever want.

Playing with mortals could be more fun than he had bargained for.

Mkhai was the first to stumble upon a red lion lounging rather lazily at their border. Those seeking challenge usually announced themselves in some way. Mkhai himself had roared loud enough to shake the ground beneath his feet. As he approached Kalaran his full size became clear. The lion was massive, almost to the point of disbelief. His fur was patterned with black and blue patches, and his eyes were a piercing green.

"If you do not wish to be chased away, make your stand now." Mkhai greeted the lion with no kindness... there would be no mercy.

Well, this one was certainly big. There was something of divinity about him...perhaps another god-blood? Kalaran could perhaps see why his father might have taken even a passing interest in this pride, if it was one that gods frequented more often than most. As for the ember-bright lion, he saw it as a proper challenge...one where he might even get his claws dirty. What fun would it be if he wasn't allowed to cause a little pain? He smirked at the thought, although his opponent might think it a response to his words.

Stepping forward, he made a show of looking the massive patch-marked lion up and down. "Chased away? Win or lose, I don't intend to be turned aside so easily. Your pride has no use for the weak of will, am I correct?"

Mkhai was not amused, but that was almost his constant state of being. There seemed to be no way to shake away the impressive frown from his face. Rarely did he smile, and the closest he came to expressing happiness was through smirking. He was a simple god in a realm where there were many who were complex.

"Nor the weak of body," Mkhai corrected in a deep, rumbling voice. A fierce will was common among the Stormborn. It always seemed to accompany the strong, those who refused to be beaten or cast aside. Against Mkhai, though, entry into the pride was almost an impossible feat. He would not allow anyone weak within the borders, and a strong will or quick wit would not be enough to sway his favor.

It was strength he was after, and it was fighting prowess that Kalaran would have to prove he possessed.

"Do not disappoint me." Mkhai wanted a good fight, and craved it almost constantly. It was the nature of his being, and a part of him that was difficult to subdue even in peaceful times.
