[PRP] Sometimes fate happens [Lala/Kantuta]

It wasn't like being hungry was new to Lala. She was a lone female. Her hunting skills were excellent, but her luck? Not so much. She's had the wind shift on her, birds warning her prey, and all sorts of bad luck streaks that prevented her from finding food that day.

It was going on day five of no food and her stomach was hurting. She swore on the gods that if she got even a little meerkat she wouldn't complain in the least bit.

She walked out into the tall grasses to stalk some gazelle she had been following. The red and black lioness crouched low on her stomach and walked forward every so often.

Please no one else hunt them...

Kantuta was laying in the monkey grass watching the herd go by, she had already taken down a zebra recently so she had no need to attack the gazelles, nor was she a wasteful lioness. She ate what she needed and left the rest for the smaller predators that were unable to take down larger prey on their own. She had come from a large family that had taught her the ins and outs of hunting and she left them to strike out on her own when she had become an adult. Staying with her family through her adolescence. She breathed in deeply taking in a new scent among the gazelles. She held still scenting another lioness not wanting to interrupt their hunt. She hoped their hunt would go well, or perhaps if their hunt failed she would have the chance to offer to help them take down other prey instead.

Her hunt went badly. Lala was overeager and impatient to get something into her stomach that she tripped up, alerted the herd, and they all darted off, while she desperately tried to sprint after them. Unfortunately for her, they were faster and she slowed down before stopping all together and panted. She was not happy with herself or the way things had gone. She could have done much better.

"You're making mistakes like you're still an adolescent," the former queen said. She missed her old life. Fending for herself wasn't something she had ever wanted to do again. Still her pride failed and split up and here she was.

There was a roar from her, long and loud of frustration.

Kantuta felt bad for the lioness so she cleared her throat after the roar and said "Excuse me." She called out from upwind where the scent hadn't been likely to carry. "I have some meat here if you are hungry.." She had never been the type of lioness. To try to waste the food she gathered if she happened to find another creature who needed it. She hoped her kindness didn't bite her in the a** one day. Till she found a home to settle in that would always be a danger.

Lala's head whipped around at the sudden voice, and she went stock still. Someone had seen how badly she'd failed? Anger and embarrassment bubbled up inside the lioness and she let out a low growl of warning.

"No. I do not want your pity meal. Take it and leave," her voice was clipped, but she didn't outright snap at the other lioness. That wouldn't be fair to her.

Kantuta blinked it was not the reaction she was expecting when she had been trying to be kind, but she couldn't force the lioness to eat if she wished to suffer. "Suit yourself, I was only trying to be nice, I do not pity you." She said in a quiet tone. She figured she would leave if need be she had eaten what she wanted if the lioness refused her offer and the vultures and hyenas took the meat instead it was as nature planned. She could do nothing more on the matter so she turned to leave.

"I don't need the help."

Why was Lala driving her away? She did need the help, anyone at all could see it. The former queen's pride was at stake and in front of no one but herself, she was acting high and mighty. Maybe it was her bloodline, maybe her age, but Lala was not going to let herself be perceived as weak in front of some lioness that did not even know her.

The wind blew around her as Lala thought about her own words. Dust spilled from the reds and blacks, revealing them to be brighter. She stared at the paler red and pink lioness as she retreated and then snorted.

Kantuta had no idea why the female refused her help, it was not easy to be a female alone in the rogue lands you had to be very strong and lucky to get by. She could not change the females mind if she refused to accept the help she refused to accept help. She moved away she had a life of her own she needed to find and forcing food down the throat of a stranger was not something she needed or wanted to do that day. She didn't look back to see if the female would change her mind once she was far enough away. It would only serve to make things worse if she didn't since the female had said firmly more than once that she could take care of herself.
