While relieved that he would not be forced to go, Ergon had this odd little feeling in his gut at the same time. He.. wanted to do things that would make her Riya happy... Shrugging it off, he gave her hand a light squeeze. "Well, we shall see when the time gets closer then," he assured. With his mother, his father, and the business keeping him occupied for most of his life, it felt odd to even think of heading away for anything not relating to them. "What sort of work is it your mother and brother are doing out there?"

Riya smiled at Ergon when he gave her hand a squeeze. "Mm? My brother is learning magic. I am pretty sure he's getting lessons from uncle Makani." She gave a shrug. It was weird now a days since her brother and her weren't as close. So neither really knew much about what the other was doing. "My mom? She's having fun taming the animals of Sauti."

Riya was pretty sure her mother didn't want to do anything other than that and raise kids. Lots and lots of kids. As far as she knew her mother could be pregnant now. "It would be nice to go see Li. I miss him."

Ergon nodded his understanding. He could remember Hulis had some magic skill. Interesting to know he was focusing on those talents. And her mother was all about the animals.

The fresh ache in Riya's voice caught his attention. He understood the importance of being with family... "How soon will you- ..we.. be leaving?" he asked slowly.

"When?" She gave that some thought before she looked up at him. "I still have training to do so likely not for at least two weeks." It would take her that long to make the preparations too. "Maybe three." Riya was sure that she would be leaving within the month. It had been far too long since she'd visited with her mom and dad and brother and she had gotten her fair share of her aunts and uncles. Not to mention she wasn't really looking forward to another trip over the cliff. Riya still couldn't remember who it was that had done it.

"It's okay Ergon, you really don't have to come with me." She smiled at him again before teasing him a little. "I'm sure I will be kept company by my ex-boyfriend. Or some other guy down there. I hear a lot of Iclings are moving that way." It took everything she had not to giggle as she teased.

Two or three weeks. Surely he could find a bit of business to be done out there in that time frame. The he would have an excuse to... Excuse? That sounded just a little pathetic, even in his head.

"I know I don't have to," he replied, trying to be a little lighter about the situation as well. Ex?! His lips pressed with disapproval, unable to help the natural jealousy that crept up, possessive of his girl. Not that he believed a word of it but still-! "You would be willing to take on such second-rate company due to my absence?" he asked with a teasing lift of his nose. "Now I know you have better standards than that."

Seeing him press his lips together with disapproval written all over his face was comical. It almost made her laugh and lose what little bit of seriousness she had. "Hm, true. My ex wouldn't be worth my time." Riya nodded her head. "But Calistos... Mmmm, now he is definitely worth it." She didn't tell him that Calistos was her brother's man since she rather liked his jealousy. Besides, Ergon knew he had nothing to worry about from her.

Ever since they first met she was practically in love with him. Heck she'd even claimed him as hers before they had really finished puberty. And Riya had no time for other males. Unless they were family. If her brother or cousins or uncles need her she would be there. Any other male? If his name wasn't Ergon or Calistos then he could forget about getting her attention.

He nodded slowly, pleased to hear the initial agreement. What followed though... A threat he could put a face to. "A rival, is it?" he asked with exaggerated shock and dismay. After a quick glance to see if anyone was paying attention to them, he caught Riya's chin gently with his fingers to turn her face toward him. "Then, what is a man to do so that his girlfriend thinks only of him while she is away?" he asked lightly, brushing his nose against hers. "That is, if he is not there with her to keep her focused, which he might be." Couldn't rule that out yet.

A rival? As if. In her eyes no one came close to Ergon. Still, she liked that he exaggerated it and gave a small smirk. Until he took her chin and made her face him. It wasn't like him to do many displays of affection in public so it took her off guard for a moment. His question sparked a few bad ideas that had Riya biting her lip and when he bushed his nose against hers she felt a blush creep into her cheeks. "I-I can think of a few things.."

The slight stutter came along with the butterflies in her stomach. Riya couldn't explain it but Ergon still gave her those new love feelings when he showed her affection. Secretly she hoped they would never go away. "H-He could kiss her in a way that leaves her wanting more." Admitting such a thing, even to him, caused the color in her cheeks to deepen.

Seeing the flustered surprise on Riya's face was amusing and alluring. It wasn't too often that he could surprise her. His smirk grew, skin prickling on his neck. He could certainly think of a few things, too... but this wasn't the place for that!

The suggestion made it his turn to feel heat rising to his cheeks. Well, he had asked for it... Now? It.. it was later in the evening, and there were not many lingering about... With a soft inhale, he leaned in before he could convince himself otherwise, catching her lips for a subdued but eager kiss.

After a moment, he groaned playfully and pulled back. "The trouble with this is that I get left wanting the same," he mused with his little smirk.

To say she was surprised by the display of affection was an understatement. Riya felt a whole new surge of warm grow across her face. Kissing Ergon was nothing new, but having him be the one to initiate it and in public was different. When he pulled away and made the statement about him wanting the same she couldn't help the grin she gave him. "Safe to say your girlfriend will think of no one else but you." He'd managed that much even before the kiss.

Biting on her bottom lip, mostly to try and control the ear to ear grin she had, she grabbed his hand so that they could tart walking again. He still needed to escort her home after all.
