Adlais hadn't been so much preoccupied as she'd been... sleeping. But even asleep, the lioness woke at the sound of being close... too close to pridal territory, and she spat angrily at the fact that she hadn't picked up on it the night before.
The fact she could actually hear what the angry lioness was saying? She was well, WELL past where the border was sure to have been. But, she also picked up on something important. A missing Warchief, was it? She smirked, the idea forming in her head already. Surely helping out might get her a reward, or at least something to snack on.
Finding visual markers to remember where she needed to get back to, she ventured off after a few lions, hoping they'd pick up on a scent she could put to memory and wander off on her own.

- - - - A heart could only handle so much before it started breaking.
Of course she recognized the scout, after she mulled it over. His claws had barely been sharpened when he insisted on accompanying her beloved mate on his outing. It had taken all of her inner strength to not bust into Golka's den and cry her sorrows and worries when she realized who the poor scout really was. The Valley of Spirits had offered her no respite, either, as some of the young shamans were unnerved by the stench of death in the air and the whispers of what might have happened.
Now the hunt was finally on, and Ro'kuna trailed the search party with tired paws, a heavy heart, and a spirit that was not what it had been a few days prior. What she wouldn't give to see, to hear, to smell, to have some vague sign of her mate, of their warchief.
What she could not do now, she entrusted to Golka. Ahri'ok. Azrasha. The grunts, the peons, the scouts...Before she knew it, she had made her way to the frond of the party, past the strangers that had somehow found their way here, and up near Golka.
Tired, but not yet broken, she would search and hope.

Vilh was in a poor mood.
Had to be, as not even seeing Golka in this fine fettle could coax a smile to his face. No, the combination of this forced hunt, being reminded of his own failure to track down their Warchief, and the palpable sadness of Ro'kuna on top of it all? The scowl on his face was there to stay. And for good reason, as far as he was concerned. If he'd been successful in hunting Hellscream, maybe their scout would still be alive. Maybe they wouldn't have lost a good member. And just maybe they wouldn't now be trying to replace that fine set of eyes with a bunch of rogues and random upstarts.
Of course, some of them seemed to be helping. Cool blue eyes raked over the lot, settling - as he was sure most did - on the hybrid, slender and bluey-green and blatant as a hangnail. Bad enough he had to rub elbows with an unfamiliar crowd, missing Hellscream...being out and about like this... It felt vulnerable, that's what it was. Felt like their whole damn pride was laid open like a wound, waiting to picked. It chafed at him. Better to get to the bottom of this quickly, get their beloved High Warlord satisfied so they could head home.
To that end, he glanced up at the shout from an unfamiliar pelt. The lioness received a grunt in response as he shifted his weight, running to her side in wake of the scent of blood in the air. Yeah, the lion known as 'Skullcrack' was feeling a touch more ornery than usual. He had to be; tell folks that he was 'concerned' instead, and they'd think he was going soft.
