It had been quiet in the pride as of late, Iyõ noted. Of course, that wasn't a bad thing. The pride was never short of an event, whether it be good or bad, but ever since the new Abaholi had arrived, things had been... for a lack of better word, calm.
It was a nice change of pace, and Iyõ was certainly impressed by the dark lion, his troupe of males, and the attitudes and knowledge of the females that came with him. Some lionesses hung onto the male from the past, loyal to them in some way or form, but she was merely glad that, although the past males were strong, the new males were no doubt even stronger.
Iyõ, for the first time, had thought about choosing one to sire some cubs.
She'd not thought about cubs at all since she'd joined the group. Strange really, for there were so many youngsters about, and the pride thrived on the life and energy that the youth brought. Still, she had never had an urge to pursue cubs. But her interaction with one of the prides young orphans had tweaked something in her, and she had carried it around inside her, ruminating on it for some time.
The gold lioness, parched from all her thinking, made her way to a nearby waterhole to drink.
