It was early morning, a time that C'ryn and Aresoth were normally awake at anyways. Being a weyrling was great, something that C'ryn had always wanted, though at times he found it bitter sweet. Yeah, he found his other half which was the greatest thing in the world, and he had the chance to excel and do something with his life to even better the world. The thing that made it bittersweet was that he had just made friends during the touching and he didn't have as much time to spend with them as he would have liked. He didn't feel as if it made his friendship with them any less genuine, it was just harder to spend time or bond when you had different schedules and training.

Aresoth glided down to the clearing where the archery range was set up, near the forest around the weyr. C'ryn was in the straps of the budding dragon, who was getting very large now. They had passed their flying lessons and both enjoyed being able to fly through the air with one another, it was nice and calming and allowed a better look at things.

Earlier that morning C'ryn had had Myrddin send a not to Cami asking for her to meet him here. That was all he had sent, no explanation and he hoped that Cami would still come to meet him even without that. There was a warm fur-lined bag that was securely attached to Aresoth's straps as they flew. C'ryn had also brought along his crossbow and his own long bow, wanting to get more practice on the long bow so that he could then learn to shoot from Aresoth's back.

I do not see anyone yet, C'rynmine. Aresoth's whirling eyes were looking over the range as they circled and began to land. We will give her some time to show up before we decide if she isn't coming. Was there a note of disappointment that he was there first? That she wasn't already waiting? He didn't really know, but he slid out of his straps, grabbed the satchel and his long bow, deciding to get some practice in while he waited.

Early in the morning, practically still night, Cami had gone out for a run around the Weyr. She was accustomed to wake every day before the sun, a habit that hadn't been broken even in the turn and a half she'd been at the Weyr. She slept lightly, which was another habit picked on the road, and very little, which she was told she had inherited from her mother who also slept never more than four or five hours a night. Once she was awake, she couldn't fall back to sleep, and there was no worse torture to her than to lie still and do nothing. She had been filled with restlessness since the last hatching. She had never stayed so long in one place as she had at the Weyr. She felt trapped- not by its walls, but by the nature of candidacy itself. She preferred doing to waiting- and being a candidate seemed to be nothing but waiting.

Channeling those feelings into something physical helped keep her sane. If it wasn't a run, it was riding practice or archery. It was still dark when she set out, but as she ran a bright band of orange slowly appeared over the mountains in the otherwise midnight blue sky. She felt better after working out her energy, breathing the thin mountain air and feeling its icy winds against her skin. The sun had yet to rise when she got back to her bunk to change before the morning's chores and lessons. She noticed a roll of paper sitting on her bed that hadn't been there before and picked up the letter. After a full turn of remedial lessons, she could make out the symbols, though it still took her a moment to sound them all out. From C'ryn. He wanted to meet.

Not knowing what he had planned, she changed clothes into something warmer, swapping her simple Weyr-given running clothes for the sturdier winter clothes she had brought with her. She clipped her quiver onto her belt and slung her bow over her back before throwing on the fur cloak she'd had since childhood. She spotted C'ryn as soon as she got to the edge of the Weyr. With a giant bronze standing next to him, it wasn't difficult. "Good morning." she said, still a woman of few words, though she was learning. A turn ago she wouldn't even have bothered with the greeting. "You wanted to meet?"

Notching an arrow against the string of his long bow, C'ryn had just pulled it back when he heard Cami's voice. He let loose the arrow before he lowered the bow and turned his head to look at her. It had been almost at least half a year since he had made friends with her a couple other candidates. He did wish he had had more time as a candidate to spend with them, perhaps they could have gotten a bit more closer, but he hadn't let weyrling training get in too much of the way of staying friends.

The dark haired young man smiled at her. Weyrling training was doing him good, having turned eighteen recently, his body had begun to grow more muscular and fill out a bit more, not looking tall and gangly. Aresoth watched Cami as she approached, letting out a rumble of greeting to her.

"Mornin', Cami." He placed the long bow on the ground, leaning against the fence as he leaned down to grab the satchel. "Well, I have a...I guess a present for you." He held the satchel out to her, waiting for her to take it. He was feeling a bit more awkward now, trying to figure out just the right way to say it without appearing awkward. "I also figured we could go for a small hunt together as well. I remember you mentioning wanting to learn how to shoot from dragon back and well." He motioned to where Aresoth was sitting proudly.
