Astriana had been requested to help one of the new Weyrlings with taking care of their new dragon. She knew it was because she was a Beastcrafter, so it made sense to have her assisting. Of course, in her eyes, it was kind of like pouring salt in the wound, since she was still just a candidate. She hadn't been told who she would be helping, so it could be any of the Weyrlings who had been injured during the hatching. Some she wouldn't mind as much assisting, but there was one in particular she wanted nothing to do with. It would be just her luck that the one she was heading towards was Dolmar. Her eyes showed the anger of such a thought, there was no way she would help that pompous man. He thought he was perfect and if he was that great, he could take care of his dragon himself.

The young woman walked to the infirmary, ready to tell Dolmar off, if that was who she would be helping. She didn't care if he was hurt, she would give him a piece of her mind. As she entered, she looked around and that was when she noticed a familiar figure. Relief was shown in her eyes, glad to see this person, instead of the other Weyrling.

"G'ryn, I take it you were the one that requested some assistance for Sarcoth? If so, anyway I can help, I will do what I can,"she told him calmly. After all, she was willing to help someone she respected, unlike a certain other.

G'ryl looked up as he sat in his chair, the pot of oil at his feet and the wet rag draped over one of Sarcoth's head knobs. Astrianna? He nodded, “I'm still not as agile as I would like and it doesn't make sense to put Sarcoth at risk for the benefit of pride.” He gestured to the second pot of oil beside the first.

They had allowed him the past day to try to get his own method together for properly oiling the dragonet but it had quickly become apparent to the brownrider that his inability to bend and contort meant he was unable to do the job well. Satisfactorily, yes, but what was the point especially if it was Sarcoth's health at stake?

Sarcoth, for his part, looked none the worse for wear but he did glance over Astrianna, eyes whirling slowly as he assessed her. The gaze was obviously judging, the intelligence impossible to miss and the aloofness as he shuffled closer to his rider unmistakeable. This was a proud brown.

Mine, I remember this one. The courteous one... but she wasn't You so she wasted her time.

G'ryl glanced down at the brown with an arched brow and looked at Astrianna, “Hn, he says he remembers you. Interesting... I wonder if the other dragonets remember from before their hatching.” He managed to suppress the smile that was trying to creep towards the edges of his mouth – Sarcoth had made it clear that he, G'ryl, had been the choice from even before hatching and that... that was something the new rider held very dear indeed. “Have you been assigned going forward, or am I a rotating duty among the Candidates? It's odd... not having to look a choreboard for which section to run errands for now.”

He glanced back down the ward and arched a brow, “That said, it's an entirely different set of work, if not more, with him. They eat so much!”

Sarcoth rumbled defensively, amused, by the exclamation. I eat the amount I need to grow, Mine. Can I have my blanket yet...?

G'ryl shook his head, “When we're done and it's all soaked in.” He glanced at the folded fabric, more like a sheet, then back at Sarcoth. The brown did so adore burying himself in fabric or sand!

Since transferring to the new weyr, Miach had just been trying to get her bearings, let alone trying to figure out where the beastcrafting room she was supposed to go to. Akeroth needed to be freshly bandaged and considering how severe all of his injuries were, she did need some help still. One day she would be a dragonhealer and could handle it herself. But that day was clearly not today. The white dragonet was fairly impatient as well. He was impatient to start training so that the pair could prepare to the utmost for the day they would start fighting thread. Miach for the most part couldn't help but agree with him, however, she definitely needed to work at reeling him back. Making the tiny dragonet realize that in order to get to that point he had to heal properly.

Miach sighed, seeing the entrance to the room she was supposed to go to--Akeroth singing a tune to her as his rested in his spot under her chin. "I never thought I'd find it." She spoke to Akeroth with humor, now that it had been found. "Miachmine, you did well." He seemingly cooed to her through their bond, his eyes whirling green despite the pain his injuries. Miach couldn't help but smile and snuggle him gently as she entered the room.

Her hazel eyes scanned it quickly, realizing that two others were already inside. Her heart started to beat faster in her chest with nerves. She could do this. "Sarcoth. You." Akeroth greeted both his clutchmate whom he was glad to see in better spirits and the girl who had touched his egg. While she hadn't been his, he found himself content in her presence."Miachmine, they are. . ." he paused, assessing the pair and his sibling before his eyes focused on her once more. "Something." He finished. While the others might not realize that was approval from him, for now, Miach knew that he meant she could talk to them with ease. At least his clutchmate and the girl. While he didn't know the boy, he remembered him from when the blasphemous demon had attacked him. Miach had remembered him from the hatching and being attacked by the demon as well.

"H---hi. I'm. . . . Miach." She offered to the pair, rubbing her thumb against an uninjured spot on the white dragon. "Akeroth." Akeroth added, clearly having no qualms about talking to everyone and anyone. The individuals in the room were worthy of his words and gave them freely. Not that he often held back from talking to anyone but fellow dragons.

Astriana nodded her head in agreement, no point in being too prideful to ask for help if you needed it. Remembering how the Demon bronze had attacked the other, she knew he was lucky to be alive. She had been so worried when he had to be escorted off the sands, though luckily with Sarcoth in tow. Her eyes followed in the direction he pointed, seeing another pot of oil and she headed over to it. She did not miss the judging look from the aforementioned brown, she had gotten the feeling from touching his egg he had a lot of pride in him. As he shuffled closer to G'ryn, she did not seem to mind, knowing they were connected. It was like she was with her firelizards, but on a much grander scale. When it was mentioned Sarcoth remembered her, she had a questioning look in her eyes.

"I do hope that it was a good remembrance of me. His was the first egg I touched, I am glad he came to help you when you were attacked. As for remembering, they are pretty intelligent, it wouldn't surprise me if they all remember things from the touching. Would definitely explain the action at the hatching. Noble Sarcoth, may I be allowed to help G'ryn take care of you? Since you have a choice, just as much as your rider. As for helping, I have been assigned to help you for as long as you need me, G'ryn. I believe they felt it pointless to have candidates rotating in and out,"she spoke to both of them calmly. She waited patiently for responses from both the brown and his rider, when she heard a voice in her head. Turning to face the door, she saw another girl and the white dragon she impressed. Ah yes, the Angel egg, if she remembered right. His was another she had interacted with at the touching.

"My name is Astriana, one of the candidates of here. It is good to see you doing better, Akeroth,"she replied with a slight incline of her head. She could only assume the white's comment of 'you' was meant for her, since he didn't know her name. It was clear Miach was nervous and then she remembered she had been one of the candidates from High Reaches Weyr. She remembered how out of place she had felt when she and her siblings moved here when she was younger.

The brown's attention shifted away from G'ryl and Astrianna as the white was brought in, coddled by his bonded. So small.... and fragile. Sarcoth's appraising gaze passed over the white's appearance before he nodded in response, recalling only briefly he had managed to himself mauled pretty badly as well. Foolish white, really, to be so eager to bring tooth and talon to bear, but really... if he was so eager, why not curry favour so his own claws would not need to be sullied but such nonsense? Akeroth, it is a pleasure! You seem to be healing well. Perhaps you'll have another round with the demon later, hrm? I know Mine shall never forget... and I am not so sure it is to forgiven either.

When Miach introduced herself, G'ryl nodded and offered a soft smile of greeting, “G'ryl and Sarcoth. Akeroth is looking better... I didn't really see much of the Hatching after Sarcoth rescued me...” He seemed a bit awkward, unsure what to say. Thankfully, Astriana's questions gave him something to cling to.

“I think so... he's more bemused you wasted your time then anything else.” G'ryl shrugged, “Apparently once a dragon knows, they know? What about Akeroth? Was he sure from the shell?” The brownrider's gaze flicked back to Miach briefly before returning to Astriana, “Sarcoth certainly is quite intelligent – he likes being read to, of all things. Soaks things up like a sponge!”

Sarocth nodded when Astri asked his permission, and shifted to allow her better access to his hide. “That's good to know, thanks.” G'ryl seemed grateful to know that he wasn't going to have to adjust to new people nearly as much he might otherwise have to.

Akeroth nodded his head slightly to Astrianna. "Mine has been adamant about my quick recovery. We have much to do to prepare for fighting thread. My injuries are a slight. . . annoyance." He admitted with obvious disdain for his current state of affairs. While he certainly enjoyed Miach cooing over him, it was most frustrating that he wasn't able to move about like his clutchmates due to the severity of his wounds. At least he had helped save G'ryl further injury and possible death. The demon was both a loathsome and curious figure to the white. Maybe given time. . . It seemed unlikely the bronze would ever change. Akeroth would willingly lay his life down to stop him once more, though he was woefully conflicted at the aspect of harming Miach in the process. He knew instinctively as a result of their bond that if something ever happened to him that she would refuse to go on for long without a serious intervention and he of course could never live without her.

"Sarcoth, you seem to be no worse for ware. Good to see you had the opportunity to find your's." The little white added with a slightly stern look as if to say to the brown that he might want to rethink his coming words. "The demon is a brutish, foul creature." He agreed with disdain. There was no love lost for that woeful soul.

Miach let Akeroth take over until it seemed it was time for her to acknowledge the pair and Astrianna. "N---Nice . . . to . . . meet you?" She added with a slight question at the end as if to say she really wasn't sure what the heck she was doing but that she was still trying nonetheless. "I'm happy t---to see you impressed." She added, coming further into the room. "Akeroth and I . . . were. . worried?" This time it was clearly a comment that showed she was worried and Akeroth was more of the party who knew everything had worked out. The white looked at her briefly before returning his attention to them as if to agree that it was Miach who had been worried. "Ok-k-ay. I was wor-r-r-ried." She rolled her eyes with a slight smirk towards Akeroth.

Akeroth happily took over after the comments were directed at him once more. "I remember those who dared touch my shell." He nearly growled, his eyes whirling an orangish-red momentarily. "Astriana wasn't Miach. But not offensive. Or. . ." The white paused, thinking of the correct word. "A foul soul." He ended on a nod. "Miachmine is my heart and soul, as I am her's. No one was better than her. We will set fire to Pern and rid it of it's evil." Akeroth shared.

Miach blushed, shrugged her shoulders and then nodded. "But first, Akeroth needs to heal." She smiled and hugged the bundle in her arms before looking to Astriana. "W---w---would. Would you be willing to help m---m--me? His wounds. . ." She paused, taking a deep breath to obviously calm her nerves, her eyes only briefly closing as if to bolster herself. "His wounds are man--y and some a-re har-d-d-er to wrap than others."

Astriana was quiet as the two dragons greeted one another, talking about the demon. She still couldn't believe a few dragons could have caused all of that commotion. Granted, she knew that they didn't know better, but still, you could only imagine what all they heard in their shells. Knowing Dolmar, he probably had told the demon something stupid, but she still didn't know what G'ryl had done. When G'ryl greeted the other pair, she knew he had missed quite a bit while he was fighting for his life. She shrugged softly as he suggested Sarcoth had been mused she had wasted her time. As much as it burned that she had not impressed, it wasn't a waste of time. She saw him move in a way where she could help with his oiling, so she got a rag and began to work on oiling him.

"My dragon was not in that clutch, but doesn't mean that it was a waste of time. I just have to be patient and hope that the one I am meant for is in a coming clutch. Plus, it allows me time to help you and your rider, until G'ryl is in fighting form again,"she pointed out as she worked. She gave a nod of her head as G'ryl thanked her, it really was not any trouble at all. Truth be told, it would give her more time to get to know the new pair. Her eyes looked over to Akeroth when he spoke about how his rider was eager for him to heal. From what she had seen, they will be quite a pair when it came time for them to fight thread. She felt the jealousy starting to bubble again, but did her best to keep it buried. Listening to the two talk made it hard, but she was determined to keep it together. When it was mentioned that Akeroth remembered her, she was glad to hear it. No, she wasn't his rider, but it seemed he had some respect for her. Then she looked to Miach asked for help with her white dragon.

"If G'ryl doesn't mind, I can take a break to give you a hand. I was assigned to him and Sarcoth, so they have the say on it,"she explained calmly. She looked to the brown and his rider, asking with her eyes what they thought of it.

G'ryl listened patiently as the other stuttered, sometimes tilting his head as he tried to parse some of the drawn out words before they were fully spoken. “Thank you for your worry, then,” he responded cheerfully.

Then Astrianna spoke and he nodded his agreement, “I don't mind as long as you feel you can help both. And that's true enough, about not finding your dragon in this clutch. With Thread here, there'll be more dragons soon enough! I just can't really imagine what or where I'd be without Sarcoth. Probably dead on the sands...” He mused.

Sarcoth snuffed at that and shook his head as he leaned into his rider, Never. I would never allow you to perish... not without first defending you with my last breath

The absoluteness with which those words coiled in his made were more comforting then G'ryl could imagine and he was unable to suppress the loving smile as he caressed the brown's head.

Patting the bed next to him, G'ryl motioned for Miach to join them proper. “Are you well? I haven't spent much time outside of here and I hope I'm not falling too far behind on lessons....”
