Micah is a soul that has been shaped by the mountainous wilderness he calls home. He’s a naturally straightforward boy, feeling that it’s better to be earnest than deceptive. Nature is not a malicious mistress, though she can be ferocious: a mentality that Micah has adopted as well. It simply makes no sense to be mean spirited or grouchy, especially when you are stuck traveling with the same two people most of the time.

Hunkering down in uncomfortable trees and tracking a single animal for hours are not the kind of activities that foster a restless disposition, weaning those tendencies out of Micah a long time ago. He is very patient and resilient, willing to take his time to do a job right. But this has given him a bit of a stubborn streak as well. He’ll stick to a task even if it’s best to just start over or give up, because he’s determined to at least cash in on the energy he’s put into it so far. The same goes for interactions with people as well: once he gets an idea into his head, it’ll be hard to sway him from it.

But that’s not to say he suffers from stubborn-pigheadedness. Quite the opposite: he is not an impulsive person, often lingering on a single idea and mulling over it for days. He is very contemplative and cautious, weighing the pros and cons of an option before making a decision. This tends to lead to a general attitude of skepticism, questioning the validity of people’s statements and assumptions. In order for an idea to be worth pursuing, it must go through the rigorous gauntlet he puts it through. And if it makes it out, while still appearing just as good as when it started, then he’ll devote himself to seeing it to fruition.

His attitude is that it’s better to be friendly than cross, reserving sarcasm for those he’s quite comfortable with. He’s an overall friendly person, expressive and genuine with people. But he’s just as happy spending time by himself, content to watch the world around him and muddle in his own thoughts. This is great for when he’s limited to total silence while out on the hunt, but can make it difficult to switch gears when returning to civilization.

His lifestyle has left him rather...uncultured, lacking in the more delicate nuances of polite conversation and social decorum. He’s never up to date on the latest gossip and trends, ignoring that part of the world almost entirely: they move far too quickly for his taste or interest. His straightforward nature can sometimes ruffle feathers or upset the more delicate dispositions: blunt honesty is not always the best policy, or what people want to hear. But it’s not until after the words have left his mouth that Micah notices that he might have messed up, in which case, if they seemed to be truly hurtful, he’ll usually apologize. That’s not to say that he won’t stand up for his opinions and statements if he feels that justice would be tarnished if he took them back: it goes back to his stubborn nature. But generally, he tries to not say spiteful things...at least not to people’s faces. His own private musings and rants can be just as salty as he wants.

For the greater part of Micah's life, he's been assisting his father in the hunting and trapping that supports their livelihood. This kind of lifestyle is a mobile one, keeping him from settling into one location and spending most of his time with only his immediate family as company. Because of this, he places them at paramount importance, willing to do anything to ensure their survival. Responsibilities are very important to him, upholding his duties as they arise. He is very protective, especially towards his younger sister, his only sibling. Personal insults and injury he'll usually just brush off: but if anyone messes with her, he'll respond viciously with little restraint.

Micah weathers much in his life like the land he calls home. Sometimes things are good: game is plentiful, the elements run in their favor, everyone’s mood is positive. And other times, things aren’t so great, where it seems like the world is intentionally trying to make his life as difficult as possible. The best he can do at these times is push through the struggle and find outlets for his anxiety. Usually he talks to his family whenever something is troubling him. But for matters that are just too personal, he’s taken to writing out his worries on rocks, in the dirt, on tree bark; anywhere that’s convenient. After he’s done venting, his next move is to destroy the message, wiping or burning away his troubled words. He finds that this helps him let the negative feelings go, and the act of erasing is therapeutic as well.

Description: Standing at the taller side of adolescence, it's up for debate whether Micah will get any taller anytime soon. He couldn't care either way. But...it would be appreciated if the growth spurts would be over by now: he's tired of having to add extra leather to the bottom of his pants. Being a resident of the wilderness for much of the year as he goes out hunting and trapping with his family, his body has grown according to this lifestyle. Hard work combined with trekking across miles of land every day has made his muscles developed but ill-defined: you wouldn't guess by looking at him that he's a very strong person, but you'd be surprised. He's simply built like a rabbit, rather than a bear: lean and fast, but not bulky.

Growing up in the wild hasn't always been easy for him, sporting a collection of scars as proof of the endeavor. His dark blonde hair is kept short in an uninspiring style atop his head: he just cuts it himself whenever it becomes an inconvenience, sparing little time for design or finesse. He has a weathered look about him, like he might have just stepped out of the brush at any moment. His dark blue eyes are keen and perceptive, but often carry an an unassuming kindness about them. His face in long like the rest of him, with a jawline that might become square some day, but at the moment, teenage-hood is keeping it soft at the edges. His nose is straight and long as well, save for the slight bump at the bridge. He is quick to smile, sporting a dimpled grin hugging his small mouth. His lips aren't the puffy, pouty variety that inspire daydreams, but he does have a nicely-defined Cupid's-bow on his top lip. His chin is starting to sport a cleft, one that might become more defined when he becomes older. Overall, you wouldn't say that Micah's the type that makes strangers stop and gawk at his devilishly handsome face: the general consensus among girls is that he’s “cute”. But he does have a certain charm about him, an honest boy-next-door vibe that is comfortably familiar in an ordinarily endearing way.

Clothing: Micah doesn't have much of a 'wardrobe’, as he really only has one outfit; a collection of furs and pieces that he cycles out when one is destroyed, cannot feasibly be patched any more, or becomes inappropriate for the current season. His family is too mobile to carry around unnecessary frivolities, like different outfits for different occasions. Because they are fur trappers, their area of operations tends to run towards the northern border of Sauti, where the cold weather of Zena spills over, forcing animals to sport thicker coats. Which are exactly what the hunters are looking for. He's always wearing a fur lined cloak for protection from the elements and warmth, either in a mellow green tone or switched out for a white one to blend into the winter snowfall. Various tanned pelts and hardened leather provides some protection out in the wilderness, along with the knives and bow he always carries.

Accessories: A small pouch on his hip contains the essentials for emergency survival, such as clean gauze, a flask of alcohol, dried jerky, a flint striker, and other necessities. When on the hunt, his larger bag is usually left at camp, which has his more bulky supplies inside. While holed up for the winter during inclement weather, he likes to spend his time whittling wood and bone, having gotten quite good at it over the years. He wears a few of these carvings, two of which to respect their major gods. He also likes to surprise his sister with things for her to wear, as the girl can't afford the fancier accessories that are often in vogue. But she doesn't mind, appreciating every piece her brother makes for her. A fibula pin he is especially proud of keeps his cloak pinned in place around his neck, carved with intricate knots and scrolls.

History: [They start young, but everyone has a story. This won't have much effect on your character's appearance, but it may help you start fleshing him/her out.]
