She was up against her final challenger and she was so nervous about the whole thing. Taking a big gulp she did her best to remain calm and look collective. Inside she was screaming, despite looking as calm as she could be.

Giving a warm smile to the brown and green female she bowed her head. "Good luck." She really did mean it, while she secretly hoped to win, she really didn't mind if she ended up in second place.

This was all about the experience and really just to have fun. That was what he had told her right? To have fun with it. Which she was, it was definitely exciting.

It was just nerve wrecking all at the same time.

This was it. This was the finals. It was here that it would be decided if she won the tournament or was second place. Whether she won or lost this fight was the deciding factor.

And Onawa just didn’t care whether she won or lost.

It was a miracle to make it as far as she did. Her eyes were wide, looking at the crowd. Her heartbeat was racing. And her grin was unwavering. Oh, she was excited alright.

She saw the other lioness. From Earth clan, right? She did look tough. Onawa was quite sure she wouldn’t last. She may be agile but she was small. And the other probably didn’t make it to the finals on luck alone. ”Good luck to you too!” she replied cheerfully.

It was determined that Amaris would go first and she readied herself mentally.

Three hits.

All she had to get was three hits. That seemed simple enough right?

Letting out a breath she realized she had been holding she took the chance to charge forward and reached out towards the females hindquarters.

She had been expecting to miss her but her paw landed against her flank with a solid smack. No harm done of course.

One hit down.

Two more to go.

The lioness was fast. Onawa really did try to dodge. She really did. But, the shock of the speed of the charge left her stumbling at best and she felt the slight sting of the smack. She had been hit. A shocked giggle bubbled out of her.

”I nearly couldn’t see you,” she breathed. They were constantly moving. Onawa was trying to keep up, to even surpass her opponent in even just speed, but it was no use. The other was too fast. And she kept missing.

She had been expecting to feel the connection of the other females paw against her in some way or another but her attack swooshed by her and Amaris reached out as the female passed and tapped her once more with a quick jolt of her paw.

That was two!

One more and she had this in the bag. She was getting extremely nervous though and almost felt like she might get sick. WAS THIS NORMAL?

She would have to ask her male companion after the match if it was normal to feel like this. It was just so exciting and sickening at the same time. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS TO YOURSELF.

If she knew she'd have this many nerves about it come now she probably never would have signed up.

When she charged and tried to land a hit, she ended up missing and felt another tap on her. She was losing. Onawa was shocked by it. She had been ready to win or lose. But she could still feel a bit of disappointment edging in. She made herself smile and laugh, though. No, she wouldn’t be brought down by this.

No, she could still bring this around. She was still in, there was still one tap on her left. Her first round had been like this. She could do it. And so, she charged again… but the other was simply too fast, too quick. It was a bit frustrating. Again, Onawa tried to laugh, to relieve the stress.

once more the other female missed her mark and Amaris really felt like she might lose the contents of her stomach to the ground before her.

However she remained calm and spun, her paw reaching out in a prayer to come in contact with the other female.

What seemed like an eternity later, her paw connected with the soft brown and green fur of the other female and that made hit three for Amaris.

She had done it.

She had won the tournament.

How? She really didn't know. She was just so stunned by the whole thing she sorta just stood there like an idiot for about 30 seconds while she processed the whole thing.

She was victorious, so that meant her battle partner was runner up. "Thank you so much for the duel!" She turned to face the female.

"My name is Amaris, it was a pleasure doing this with you. Congrats on second place." She said warmly to her.

She had lost. The moment she felt the strike, the third strike, Onawa closed her eyes. Breathe. The disappointment and jealousy were sharp. And she didn’t want to harbor such feelings. And so, she breathed, until she felt it fade. She was runner up. She made it further than all but one. It was a good tournament.

By the time she opened her eyes, a genuine grin was on her face. ”I’m Onawa!” she replied happily, grin growing larger. ”I can’t believe I even made it to second place. Congratulations on winning! You were fast!” she mused. It was true. Onawa had been faster than her previous opponents, that was how she won. She wasn’t strong, wasn’t very clever. Speed had been her strength. And Amaris had bested her at it.

It just meant she needed to spend more time running. And since she loved running, this wasn’t an issue.

"You were almost too fast to hit!" She mused with some light laughter towards the female. "It's a pleasure to meet you." She gave a small bow of her head back towards the female as she introduced herself. "I'm happy we both surprised ourselves with where we were able to go in the tournament." She couldn't wait to tell her friends and the nice male she had been talking to.

"Well! I shall see you at the ceremony!" She called to the female as she turned and padded off. She wanted to calm her nerves and prepare herself for the ceremony where everyone was announced in their winning place and the acceptance of their prizes or what not.

She was nervous but a good nervous.

She disappeared into the crowd.

Onawa smiled after the winner as she left the area. Her disappointment, regret, and jealousy were let free, free into the sky like the clouds. She had made it to second place. That was an accomplishment.

Letting out a giggle, she stood up on her back legs. "LET'S DO THIS AGAIN NEXT YEAR!" she hollered before going back to all feet. Her mood was higher than the skies.

Perhaps... perhaps she will have time to visit the other ceremonies. At least before their over. She didn't want the festival to end until she got to see everything!
