[Backlog][PRP] Ready to play [Hlaziya x Boneka]

Boneka was excited to see her friend. They had agreed to meet later and today was the day! She dragged her small, badly made puppets out of the roughly dug out hold. The den she was currently in was a small hole in a hill, barely large enough for a full lion but perfect for her. It was muddy, it had a lumpy ground, but it was hers. Well, hers but also Emas’s. And she had to go back to her surrogate mother’s place at night, of course.

She was meeting her friend here. Ziya. A grin broke out across her maw as she dragged the puppets outside of the small den. They were more like dolls, very little mobility. But she was proud of them. And she wanted to show them off to her friend. Where was he, though? She looked around eagerly, attempting to look past the feet and legs of the other artisans and merchants.

The days where he was free to wander from the nurturing of his Mother were always the days he found himself with a dear friend, Boneka. The young lioness cub had been abandoned and rescued - or that was what he remembered of his Mother telling him. She was living with a new family now and on occassion, when Hlaziya was being scolded, he had asked his Mom if he could get a new family too. The joke was a sad one, even though he didn't realize it.

"Freeedom!"

Had been his final shriek before leaving the den he called home and barrelling towards the small cut out he had grown familiar with. Boneka had a knack for clawing her way into the earth - with help from their pal Emas. "Boneka!" He called out as he caught sight of the lioness cub. He immediately saw the puppets and grew even more excited. They were in for a lot of fun. "What's the plan for today?" He asked in a more reasonable tone as he arrived on the scene.

He wondered if they would bother the fireflies? Make up stories? Talk about the tales of the prides history? Make new toys? Play the drums? It seemed the possibilities were endless. Heck, they could go swimming and he would be happy.

There he was! Excitement rattled through her body when she saw him, so much so that she jumped to her feet and couldn’t stop jumping. Boneka pounced him, playfully gnawing at him. ”Mmmm, let’s do everything we can!” she yelped happily before jumping off of him to go to the two puppets. Grabbing one, she moved it to him before grabbing the second and running off towards the firefly pond. She paused, looking back excitedly, before continuing towards the pond. Once there, she placed the puppet carefully on a stone.

”These,” she presented the puppets with a flourish sweep of her paws, ”are what Emas and I have been making! They match! There’s one for you and one for me!” a large, proud grin appeared as she observed her shoddy work. They were the best yet! ”What do you wanna do now, Ziya?!” she asked excitedly.

"EVERYthing?"

Hlaziya made a small gasp at her suggestion. Everything would mean for a busy, exhausting, and super exciting day that he just couldn't wait to have happen. Then he watched as his friend slid over one of her projects. "Oh my gosh, you finished them!" He was amazed. Eagerly he gingerly picked up the puppet and turnedit over in his paws, careful not to twist any of the strings around like last time. He recalled the memory with a smile of him tangled up quite nicely in one of her earlier projects. It had been quite the mess.

The cub had to be quick on his feet to make sure he'd keep up with Boneka. Often times he found himself in her dust as she trailed off with some idea - the pair of them were constantly excited about something, but she was a speed demon of sorts. He gently picked up his puppet with his mouth and followed her to the pond, a favored spot shared between them.

"They are amazing Boneka!" He wasn't lying, he was actually really impressed. "Look at how much detail you captured this time." Once again he was on his rump and hoisting the puppet into the air for a better view of the details he was talking about. Then he settled his on the stone nearest hers. The perfect pair of puppets.

"Do you want to go swimming first?" He offered, ears forward. The day was incredibly to young to chase fireflies and his pelt did cause him to be quite warm- he was sure she might be too.

Boneka puffed out her chest proudly, grinning at his compliment. She watched him play with it for a moment before hopping up and pouncing him again. She quite enjoyed tackling him. ”You keep one, alright Ziya? It’ll be our friendship promise proof! I’ve heard about it,” she crowed happily grinning down at him. ”We can become the best of mates, yeah?!” Letting out a laugh, she nipped at his ear before nodding excitedly, pushing off of him and dashing towards the water.

Really, Boneka had no idea how mates really worked. There was usually a male and a female who were close together. And there were sometimes cubs. So, it could be her and Ziya with their puppets! It was perfect, flawless! ”Let’s swim, Ziya! We’ve got a lot to do!” She shouted before jumping wildly into the water, immediately submerged. Her head popped from the surface a few seconds later, a bit of water plants caught in her fur. She laughed loudly, splashing about.

He beamed at her joy and was overcome by the desire to hug her forever - she was so precious and excited with life. Not the shell he once knew. "Really??" If his eyes could go even wider they would have at her offer and then they relaxed as a blush formed on his cheeks. Before he could even get his words out she was at him again and he had to stop himself from laughing out loud so he could speak. "Bestest mates ever!" His skewed perspective of mates matched point for point with his best friend.

Hlaziya watched as she scrambled from him, declaring how busy their day was, before catapulting herself into the air and eventually landing in the water. "Woo!!" He proclaimed and waited for her head to pop up before scrambling to follow her. "Here I COOOOME." Hlaziya hollered the words loudly disturbing a few birds and a couple of passing lions. It was even better as he collided with the water causing a small flurry of splashes to echo his entrance before he too popped up.

"Take that!" He pushed his paw through the water and splashed Boneka. "Ha!"

Boneka let out a squeal of laughter as her best friend hit the water, the splashes hitting her. She let out another squeal as Ziya splashed at her and she slapped both front paws in the water in an attempt to get him back. Of course, since she didn’t do a scooping movement, water went every which away and splashed not only Ziya but herself as well and she laughed even louder.

”We’ve gotta do this for forever!” she howled out happily before lunging at the other playfully, scooping a paw to splash him at close range. ”Gotcha back!” Boneka smirked triumphantly before dashing away, commencing the game of tag.

Water was spilling this way and that disturbing a fair number of individuals as they wandered by. Soon as they figured out it was a couple of cubs at play they would alugh and dismiss any outrage. "I'd do it forever!" A voice whispered, in the back of his mind, that they were likely being watched by a grumpy, albeit rightly so, lioness. They knew of the lioness as a firefly farmer - a unique form of 'farming' that lead too the lighting often captured throughout the pride. This was a prime location for those bugs of hers and cubs at play would disrupt the natural flow of things.

"Hey!" He bellowed and all of his concerns were whisked away. "I'm going to get you!" Hlaziya furrowed his brow at her, but wore a toothy grin. Curling his paw beneath the waters surface he had gathered up enough water to throw in her direction. Getting her in his sights he thrust his paw as hard as he could and screeched his joy as he watched the water cascade towards his companion and fall from above them in plump droplets. The scene only lasted seconds.

Boneka had forgotten about the firefly farmer. She usually did forget about her… until she was shooed out of the pond for disturbing the bugs’ habitat. Boneka didn’t know why… they came out at night! And she was usually asleep at night!

Running in water was quite hard and she didn’t get very far before water rained down on her on their sunny day. She let out a loud squeal of laughter, shaking her head to dislodge some of the water, before whipping around and attempting to splash him back.

She was quite tuckered out by their playing and before long, was lounging on the shore of the lake, smiling sleepily. ”Can we take a naapp?” she asked, yawning widely. She looked at him expectantly. Of course, she wanted to curl up with her best friend. She didn’t really get much contact besides Emas. Her fake family was distant, at best. Emas and Ziya were the only ones she could spill her heart to.

The pair had been worn out after their jaunt in the water. Playing took a lot out of him, his youthful energy had pushed vanished for the time being. "A nap sounds pleasant." He mused with a yawn of his own and patted the soft soil next to him. The water they dragged along in their pelts made the soil moist and smell earthy. He breathed it in slowly. "We can't be long though, Mum might be looking for us eventually." He giggled softly with no intention of returning home.

He laid down, almost dropping himself to the ground. Without much prompting, but after Boneka was nestled at his side, he found himself falling to sleep.
