____ The Mizukage's Tower, as it were, is little more than a simple complex of buildings that compared to the rest of the village is quite simple. A stairway leads from the Sero tree to the space between the foliage, where the complex lays. Made up of one long room attached to a rather large circular room, it seems to give the impression that the building is trying very hard to be a thermometer. The doors are made of solid oak, but are plain in design, without any windows into the building itself from the outside. Made of grey stone, it looks little like the office of a leader, but then it seemed to have been a bit rushed, with the texture rough and spiky to the touch.

With careful observation it can be noted that the stone is somehow fused with the wood of the Sero tree, making it thus immoveable without damaging the tree in some way. To the eyes of a sensor it would seem that the entire structure hums with chakra that is laced so heavily into the stone that it might as well be made of chakra steel. However, how it was possible, and who made it, was a mystery for it appeared overnight.

put in the effort to help the civilian side of things get done. Two bars are in the works of
being set up around the village - one inside the Sero tree for shinobi, and the second near
the docks for travellers and civilian workers. But they need supply and The Land of Water
needs another source of income. The Daimyo has given land perfect for the planting and
cultivating of barley, but it needs clearing of the trees, filling of the deeper pools of water,
and a portion made suitable for buildings to be constructed; for housing, storage, and

• Beneath the Village:
___Researchers are beyond intrigued with the overly thriving life that has spawned inside the flooded
Kirigakure basin. But some has been causing problems. Combining the efforts of the research and
maintenance teams, a member of both teams are taking the names of volunteers to send them down
into the depths. A small pile of Fuuin scrolls are at the ready to be applied onto the volunteers,
infusing into them the knowledge how to use the Suimenka no Kisoku [ Breathing Underwater
Technique ]. Do note that this does count towards the ninjutsu limit and the limited no. of scrolls
mean only one per person. So, if the jutsu is overwritten by another, the volunteer will have to learn
the hard way.

The maintenance worker will give directions to one of the several troubled areas under the water
level; chains securing some of the smaller, floating, islands, gears of the many bridges dotted
across Kirigakure, and support beams holding up the current village, all need clearing of the plants.
The researcher also asks you get a few cuttings of every variant plant you come across while doing
so. DO NOT stray far from the surface. There are living creatures in the water, and they are not to be
interfered with by order of the Mizukage. Respect what dwells beneath the surface of Kirigakure.
Repeatable.

Suimenka no Kisoku [ Breathing Underwater Technique ]
Rank: D
Official Description: The art of breathing underwater using chakra to remove oxygen from water has been a long handed down secret of the Mist. The length of time and the depth that the diver can go under depends on the ability of the user. This technique typically activates whenever the Shinobi breathes in water and requires no hand seals.
Guild Description: See official description. This technique is partially passive in that it activates automatically when the shinobi's head is submerged underwater. However, it requires an upkeep of half the original cost once active to continue past the first post.

___Reward:
Every post rewards two [2] KP Points.
Every four [4] posts reward 200Ryo and 300AC.
May exchange AC for 4TP.

• Shape the Village:

Kirigakure. Be the idea support, defense, agriculture, its education system, recreational activity, or
another facet, Inka offers a reward for all worthy submissions and a chance for a promotion to the
successful applicant(s). Submit the idea to the Mizukage's secretary (quote BlackFruity). Not repeatable.

___Reward:
Compile seven [7] posts worth of text outlining the idea, its implementation, its estimated costs,
and a short summary to conclude to earn ten [10] KP Points, 500Ryo, and 200AC.

Anbu Orientated missions
• So you wanna be a badass?
___The Anbu and Oinin recruiters have been prowling the village, and a few strange notices to
appear on the Kiri Mission Board. These small, almost indescript notes are pinned in such
a manner that only the observant would notice them. Which one is from the Oinin or Anbu
branch is meant to be vague, but you may be able to work it out by the context...

Quote BlackFruity when beginning these missions. Right now, the following can be found;

▹ A small, yellow sticky-note has been pinned to the board. In neat, very deliberate strokes
of ink, the following can be read :

Speak to the Ice-blood,
'I'll go beyond the border.'
For home.

Inka Hizara, newly appointed Mizukage, stood in a black rendition of his title's robe. A small podium, only just large enough for him to stand on, had been placed in front of the entrance to Sero. The tree itself was quiet, empty as all but the required guards had turned out to stand in front of the giant tree, and their leader.

Dawn was about to break.

Inka's face was grave; his red eyes flecked with the gold of both his inner iris and the small flame cradled in a basin set before them all. A funeral flame. Today was to hold the dawn mourning service for the lost Mizukage and his dear friend, Shadow. Jack's picture already on the wall outside of the Kage's office, alongside Satoshi Hatake, Mi Young Ro, and Sypher Senju. Four Mizukages. Inka has lived through four Mizukages. And now here he is: the Godaime. The Fifth. Yesterday had been a tedium of paperwork and disapproving looks from the elders. But they were in line with him. Jack's word held some sway, and Inka's immaculate paperwork and change in attitude over the years; his bratty teens, to the overly anxious young father, and now the soldier who has seen too much death. All by the age of 23. Minowa, his son, his precious boy, was seated to the side, sadly stroking the large feline that had protected him during a time Inka could not.

All would be assembled soon. Inka was about to give his first speech as Mizukage. And it started with a funeral service.

Gold and red-flecked eyes shone in the sunlight. Dawn had broken.

"We have all lost so much." Inka's voice called out over the assembled crowd; a pool of black amongst the surrounding still water. "Time and time again waves of violence have pushed us down, trying to drown us in the depths. And every time, we lose a part of ourselves." Inka did not falter, though his throat grew tight. "Our very home is built upon a grave, lost in such water." The ceremonial robe of the Mizukage was black for this gathering, and absorbed the heat and light of the small funeral fire burning in the stone basin beside him. "And every time that wave recedes, chunks of our selves, our hearts and flesh, were carried away with it, the wave thinks it has won. It sees the blood in the water. But it fails to see us." Inka stepped forward, righteous anger pulling his shoulders back and tilting his chin up. "Content with pushing us down, they fail to see that we do not take a knee in submission, but to brace ourselves and rise again. The water, the mist, this soaked and stained land is ours and we only take a knee to hold out our hand and rise with more.

"Jack Snipe has given us much to bring up from beneath the surface." He added, looking down to the small fire. The Mizukage breathed. "To Jack Snipe, for weathering the storms, and the Shadow Hunyistir, for being within Jack's reach. We have our home, our foundation strong and stable. Let the waves come. The will break on us."

Inka Hizara bowed his head, giving a moment of silence to reflect. For himself and for those gathered. Jack was an oddity to all, but his work was true and beneficial to the survival of the village. He was... a good man. A strange, but good man. Inka looked back into the pyre, his hand reaching out to be warmed by it.

"Gear up." He called to all present. "I have jobs for you all." At that, the doors to Sero opened, heavy and creaking, and out came a small billboard with only a few postings on them. The billboard was set a few feet behind the funeral pyre, though the meaning of its placement was not outrightly stated. "Learn the hands of those next to you, strengthen the ground beneath you." And with that, Inka turned and strode into Sero.

Enter from The Father Gates || Village Land Entrance

The clear winner for most obvious change was the Sero, which surprised Kagerou because she didn't know that the Sero could get any more surprising considering its history. Granted, this wasn't actually really shocking, oh-my-god surprising. It was just unexpected. The mission board that had been initially at the peak had been moved to the base, and was accompanied by an office building that Kagerou could not decide if she would consider hastily built, simple and natural, or both.

Anyways, there was a healthy amount of activity that confused Kagerou. The mission board prior to her leave hadn't been deserted but it also hadn't been this active. The prohibition of genin from performing missions without the authority of their teacher kept a good portion of genin away from the boards. Now, though, it looked like that missing population had returned in full force. After a few minutes of observation, Kagerou confirmed that genin still couldn't directly access the mission board without permission from a higher ranked shinobi but it didn't appear that they were limited to asking permission from just their squad leader.

Noting the change, Kagerou resumed her walk, ascending the Sero.

• Specialist -The user chooses to specializing in healing medical techniques and gains a great boost to their chakra control in that area. At Chunnin, they gain a -5 chakra reduction to perform techniques in their specialty. at Jounin, -10, at Konin -15 at Sannin -20. To clarify, they they gain a -5 chakra reduction every rank, to a maximum of -20 at sannin. All medical jutsu are still learnable by both sides, but the chakra control only applies to the chosen side.

• Grand Performance - The user can perform both types of arts (ninjutsu and genjutsu) through their performance or instrument, often casting them at the same time (must pay for both techniques). Can perform D rank techniques through instrument at gennin, C at Chunnin, B at jounin, A at Konin, and S at Sannin.

• Learn Medical techniques one (1) post faster.

• Learn ninjutsu (1) post faster.

• Learn genjutsu one (1) post faster.

• D"eye"versity - Through the use of custom techs, Kagerou can swap between the normally limited abilities and techniques for her sharingan, potentially giving her access to all eye abilities and mangekyou techs. She can never have more than the written limits at any one time (e.g. access to all eye abilities but cannot use more than two at a time). In addition to learning the required custom and whatever additional requirements that custom might have, Kagerou needs to fulfill certain conditions for a safe swap. Each Sharingan ability or technique swapped must be retrained and adjusted to, a process that takes twenty [20] posts at first for each Sharingan ability/technique, is reduced by two [2] posts every time the Sharingan ability/technique is safely retrained, and can take a minimum of six [6] posts per Sharingan ability/technique. If necessary, Kagerou can perform a riskier, instant swap on the fly without the readjustment period, but these swaps can only last for up to five [5] posts and disables the Sharingan, which needs to recover from the strain, for twice [x2] the number of posts that the swap lasted for. Techniques learned with the 'To Copy' Sharingan ability, which can be swapped out, are not forgotten but must be retrained every time Kagerou safely swaps to the 'To Copy' ability. Instant swaps to the 'To Copy' ability give Kagerou all of her copied techniques without needing to retrain them. For every time Kagerou safely swaps to her 'To Copy' ability, her copied techniques take two [2] less posts to retrain, going down to a minimum of one [1] post to retrain each copied technique.

She gazed through the available selection that was present. Not many looked interesting to her aside from one in particular. It detailed putting her healing skills to the test as the hospital was calling for medics to heal wounded performers after various shows. She grabbed the paper ad quickly ran off to accept the offer.

There were some to help walk dogs, clean up trash...but this one looked interesting! It entailed helping with the construction of new farmland around the land surrounding the city. Maybe Kaneko would be up for it! She spun around on her heel and offered the poster to her friend, a hopeful look on her face.

Kaneko was glad for her little friend's energy in getting some missions done,
it was about time they made themselves known in this village instead of hermit medics. She looked to the paper that her bun chose, nodding as she approved of doing this with her bun.

"Lead on!" She smiled, this could be easy, and less stressful then the mercenary camp for her little bun bun.
"There's smoke blinding us with goodbyes."
"All these endless circles do nothing."

In no time, the group of three shinobis and two performers reached the base of the Sero. In front of the mission office, the designated exchange point, Kagerou bid farewell to the performers as they were escorted further up by other chuunin. she vaguely remembered. Now, officially, she just needed to turn in the mission. Socially, it was a bit more complicated than that.

Turning to Miyuki first, Kagerou smiled at the newfound acquaintance. Admittedly, the easily attached teen already thought of Miyuki as a friend. In a gesture of polite contact, Kagerou extended a hand for a handshake as she compliment, 'It was nice meeting you, Miyuki. It's good nothing serious happened on the mission. I got to enjoy your good company. I wish I could lend you Takeda to keep you company on the long trip up the Sero, but I actually need him for something, so then... until next time?". Oh, by no means had it escaped Kagerou that the two seemed to hit it off quite well. In fact, even better than Kagerou usually hit it off with others on first meetings, and Kagerou liked to think she was the friendly sort. That wasn't expecting too much out of herself, right?

Miyuki was actually pleasantly surprised that she had made a couple of fast friends. Something she hadn't really been able to do, thanks to her behavior. But because they interacting the whole trip back, she could focus on them and not where she was going. Her mind didn't have the opportunity to blank from boredom, and risk wandering off. Instead, she'd had an enjoyable conversation with Takeda while she tried to figure out why he seemed familiar. Kagerou, Miyuki was fairly certain she'd seen around the hospital for the length of time she'd been stuck there after waking up. But Takeda she hadn't been able to place.

Now though, standing at the base of the Sero tree looking up, it was time for them to part ways. She had a headband to retrieve and training to do, both of which were equally exciting, assuming the new Mizukage didn't grouch at her for vanishing. Genin weren't supposed to be out of the village on their own. But to be fair, she wasn't a Genin yet, and it hadn't been intentional. It just sort of... happened. That had been the worst of her wanderings to date, or at least that she could remember. She had no idea if the wanderlust was a new trait from what happened during Sero's corruption, or if she had always been that way. Something told her the latter may have been the case, since the village was supposedly evacuated before the disaster.

Kagerou spoke up, causing Miyuki to turn toward her. But when she caught sight of the extended hand she hesitated. After avoiding it for so long, she forgot how much people were inclined to physical contact. It was still something she couldn't bring herself to do, a mentally barrier with a wave of anxiety behind it threatening to overflow at just the prospect. She gave another one of her likely now infamous nervous laughs, flexing her hand as she debated whether or not she could bring herself to shake hands with a friend. She wasn't trying to be rude, and hoped she didn't come off that way. Meeting Kagerou's gaze, she smiled apologetically and hid her hands behind her back. "Sorry. It was great meeting the two of you as well. And it's no issue at all. I'm sure, or at least I hope, I'll see you guys around." Then she clapped her hands in front of her and bowed into them slightly. "Also thank you so much for letting me travel with you. I don't know where I'd be if I'd had to find my own way back. If there's anything I can do to make it up to you, let me know." She expected the response of 'you don't owe us anything', but she insisted on it regardless.

Right. Another day, another disaster. And I thought things couldn't get any worse.today. Meeting Miyuki was a nice touch at least. While they didn't seem to have anything in common other than similar eyes judging off first impressions, her personality was a breath of fresh air. It wasn't exactly politeness since Kagerou carried that in spades, there was just an odd air to her that didn't drive him away like most personalities. Of course, pleasantries and lovely experiences could only last so long. He was going to remark to Kagerou that he'd help Miyuki then find her right after, not to worry. "Not worrying" wasn't going to happen for quite awhile though, if his intuition was correct. It usually was. Bright white lights illuminated the Sero suddenly, almost in the blink of an eye as Kirigakure seemed to close in on itself. Day after day after day. Memories of helplessness and feelings of regret simultaneously washed over him. The Jiongu was stalwart in response to it all. A long exhale escaped him in the form of a sigh, eyes closing for a moment in focus before settling as an attentive glare. I was there before... He pictured himself well over a month ago, laying in a pool of his blood. He was so far from the Sero back them. So far from Jack, from all those who needed him. Takeda fell victim to his temperament and was struck down early because of it. I was a burden. I'm here now. I studied that mistake, and it won't be the end of me. Calm down, Takeda. The boy drew his weapon in response to the pod that hit the ground, the leather hilt ripping once more as it should when confronted with his steel. His dominant foot went forwards, and he stepped ahead of both the girls with him when he noticed that there were three pods rather than one. I have to find out what's going on and not get wrapped up in the moment, I still need to protect these two though, that's the top priority here.

The light provided by Sero's brand new white chakra vines were the only reason Takeda could see the bizarre scene unfold. I need to focus on more than that...how many are there? Just three? I need to think bigger. It's more than just Miyuki and Kagerou. The Sero is a popular place; villagers are all around, and I might have to spread myself thin because of it. It wasn't like him to think so much in preparation- it wasn't like him to think at all until he was already in the middle of a fight. Anyone who knew him before would likely notice that something had changed in the month of his recovery.

One hand remained on the hilt of his zanbatou, pulling the hilt towards his back leg so that the blade crossed his body from hip to shoulder. It took notable amounts of strength to wield such a weapon one-handed, but he had power in spades since he was a child. One of his redeeming qualities. His free arm remained raised horizontally, black sigils appearing beneath his poor coat, ready to tear the sleeve open to shreds in an instant to release tendrils. The revealed contents of the pods weren't what Takeda expected, but he didn't lower his stance. The strange apparition of Inka spoke to him, making him noticeably bristle in response, but remembering how much words riled him up last time settled his aggressive spirit. The almost solemn words it spoke was a sharp contrast to the aggressive tone taken with Kagerou. It made listening in on two conversations easier, but remaining calm was becoming more of a challenge with each spoken sentence. He has no right to speak to her like that, Kageship be damned...but if I had to guess, these are just shattered fragments of something that's been plaguing him. I want to say responding won't do us any good, that there's probably a bigger issue, but there's something I have to get off my chest. Inka, you idiot. I hope you can hear this.

"You don't know anything, neoneun baboya! You never hurt me, Inka, you were just seriously annoying. That whole time, I was ticked because you weren't just restricting me, you were restricting yourself. The Daimyo didn't tell you that you could be the Mizukage- Jack did, and now you're turning yourself into what they want. I wouldn't be surprised if this is all happening because Jack is turning in his ******** grave right now!" While he was trying to remain calm, the version on Inka before him was grating his nerves. As if he was hardly even paying attention. I don't need to worry about this one yet, it seems passive still, but Inka is- He moved before his thoughts finished. Not particularly fast, but he sidestepped and kept his blade in position to defend against either of the two. He was keeping tabs on the one by Miyuki, noticing it didn't seem hostile either. Still, Takeda hoped that she'd get his intention and stick behind him as well. "Your reputation. Authority. Listen to yourself..you aren't even Inka. I don't know you. I haven't watched you grow, we've only fought- and briefly at that, but...you're lying to yourself if you say you don't know who you are either. There's a difference between not knowing and pushing it all down, suppressing it. If you deny that, then I'm wrong if I think Jack's the only one turning in his grave...he wouldn't have put his Shinobi in the hands of this...thing in front of me. No, Inka's turning in his grave too if that's the case. Because I know neither of them would have anything to do with making this husk- this puppet I'm looking at the Mizukage." His words were sharp, laced with venom. At the same time, they were passionate. It was brief, yeah. But I care about this a*****e. Maybe it's because he carries the candle from Jack, maybe it's because we might be a little similar...I don't want to see him like this, but I'm not going to baby him. I don't want to hurt him, but I want to destroy this...this parasite. His hand clenched the blade tighter, glare deepening in its intensity. The next words were breathed out low, but they carried just as much conviction.

"To go through so much torment and still be recognized enough to become Mizukage...you fakes aren't worthy of his image."

User ImageMiyuki was about to get that response of "you don't owe us anything" and an added assurance that it was okay to be against physical contact when that time of the year happened again.

With a primal beat, the Sero pulsated, lines of white beat like the veins to a heart as they ran up along the side of the giant tree. Kagerou asserted, Kagerou truly believed even if she did have to convince herself a little bit. There was no way that the Mizukage, while different, would dare to make the same mistake after everything the village had been through the last time. She looked up the tree and then down it, to the roots that branched out to her on either side. She was so close to the base that she could see that the white veins were actually inscriptions, closely linked and intertwined with each other. What they meant or even their contradictory connections, she had not a clue. It was something powerful, though. That was what each beat, each vibration that surged straight through her, told Kagerou.

And with each passing moment, the light grew brighter, or maybe it was just the sky growing darker as the Sero's canopy covered even more of the sky above the mists. Her eyes tracing back to the top as the sun dimmed and her mind wondered why, Kagerou saw the ever growing spread as the branches seemed to reach the very ends of the village. No, she was sure they had. Before her very eyes, like in some sort of accelerated time lapse, pods grew from the branches, from minuscule specks to dots that were deceptively small, shrunk by the great height of the tree. The earliest to grow were not the earliest to fall, but Kagerou was sure that all would fall in due time. She was already seeing some of the dots rain down, and then the splash or thud as they reached their destination on the ground.

she predicted and raised her eyes to right above her. As if sensing her gaze, a pod dislodged. It wasn't apparent at first, but as the speck grew bigger and it became more apparent that it was dropping at an impossibly straight angle, at that height, the winds would have buffeted it off course at some point, Kagerou knew. This was her pod. Something about it just didn't seem like a coincidence, though she didn't dare trust such a self-centered assumption. There were many others in the vicinity of the pod's landing. Kageoru wasn't the only one to remain calmly standing as the seed dropped. The eyes of strangers and companions alike were trained upon Kagerou's pod and the other two that fell with it. The sheer impact of the dive drove the delivery into the ground, digging the pod into its own little stand to remain upright. Kagerou's hands had already found a kunai for self defense, and her bells had been adorning her wrist since before. She braced herself for another wooden monstrosity, a rotting corpse fermenting inside a doll of cursed bark. Her mouth held tight in a grimace with fear and dread for that all too human shriek of pain and suffering, freshly renewed in her mind after months of dulling into just another part of her past, but she had endured it before, she could live through it again. She should be and was more worried for Miyuki and Takeda, who's pods had also landed shortly before and/or after hers. She could see them in her peripherals and hear them with her ears.

The Sero, despite its past, had always been a sight of wonder to Kagerou. She had embraced and genuinely enjoyed living within the living tree. That was why, when the pod bloomed, even though she expected the worst out of it, she could also appreciate the wonder of nature it was. Albeit, one largely powered by chakra and no doubt nightmare fuel of some sort. She examined the sounds emitted by the pod with scientific interest, and as the tip started to delicately unfurl in nature's reveal of what it held within, she thought it beautiful. Beautiful, that is, until the pod stopped "blooming" and began something more like "peeling," peeling away and revealing its underside of sickly green, like gangrenous flesh. What seemed like congealed pus, but green in flower so even worse in its abnormality, seeped out of the opening flower.

A perfect example of the saying, "Beauty was only skin deep."

And from the ghastly innards, a familiar figure appeared, one who Kagerou had only recently mentally noted as beautiful. However, this one was different. It wasn't just his eyes, one now the color of ensnaring honey and the other the color of a wound just beginning to heal yet threatening to begin bleeding again with the slightest provocation.

To her side(s), Kagerou could see that something similar had appeared from Takeda's and Miyuki's floral cocoons.

Anticipation bloated the air around the three mystery pods. Multiple eyes were glued to the Inkas clothed in black, all looking to the kage for... who knew what. Perhaps some were even considering, like Kagerou, that this was some Sero-based method of relaying remote instructions. The Sero was intended for a village defense system, after all. With the rest of the crowd, Kagerou listened attentively to all three Inkas.

It quickly became apparent that Kagerou and others who thought like her were too hopeful. Apparently, he hadn't been looking for anyone in the vicinity, Kagerou could feel his gaze drilling straight into hers. The pod was meant for her. The pod and everything that the Inka within it had to say, and what a mess what those words happened to be.

Up to a certain point, Kagerou could endure the improperly placed lecture and all of its not so subtle insults and digs at her way of doing things. She had prepared for something along these lines, after all. She knew well and clear that she had taken a risk at being seen as insubordinate in that last meeting with the Mizukage, driven by the familiar atmosphere that Nozomi brought to the room. Of course, that wasn't an excuse or anything. Aside from the kunai held in one hand and the eyes that warily tracked Inka, Kagerou stood as the model of a shinobi being disciplined by their superior: a straight, stoic, and unblinking expression that faced forward at attention. Whatever this was, she wasn't sure, so she was going to wing it, this time, by playing it safe.

Clearly, something was off about this situation. She could feel the thoughts already arranging in the back of her mind as Inka drove her self esteem down into the ground, shifting from disciplining her for her lack of respect and stepping out of line into outright mocking her for her worry and her care. She... She was sure she hadn't meant any of that. No, she was certain of that and she was sure that she hadn't done anything to imply that she felt herself superior at all. It didn't make sense.

Then, from behind Kagerou, where her eyes couldn't follow so her ears strained for the slightest detail, Inka spit out words that stung. Kagerou, already tense from the disciplining, regardless of how much she doubted it or how much she was mentally prepared for it, involuntarily flinched at the sharp words. Her eyes closed tight, a fist clenched at the bottom of her top, and her head and shoulders squeezed tight. She involuntarily held that pose for a few seconds while she recollected herself before realizing what her body had done. With a shuddering breath, she straightened herself and tried to regain composure after she had slipped.

This wasn't right. Kagerou was sure now even as her Inka kept on talking and nailing certain points head on. Not just why what she had done was wrong, but also the very last thing she wanted to be taken from any of her interactions with the Mizukage. It was all too difficult to listen to, but Kagerou saw with unclouded judgement that none of this was something appropriate to say outside of the office. If this was all true, then Inka had hidden it even in front of an audience of only one other, hid it all with a pretty smile. An outburst was just fishy. Shedding the former discipline from before, Kagerou freely observed her Inka and the other two.

None of the Inkas had been particularly trying to hide what they said, and Kagerou had been paying some attention to the other two on top of hers. Of course, she couldn't catch all the details of either. Miyuki's was short. She was given some hurtful names but quickly left alone. Takeda's held regret, very different from Miyuki's flippant Inka and Kagerou's harsh one. Takeda's apologized and sympathized. the thought had entered Kagerou's mind when she straightened back up with that shuddering breath, but she had not heard enough to reach such a conclusion. It was, in fact, something that Takeda's Inka said that truly set Kagerou's resolve. The truth would be uncertain, but the Mizuki's life must in no way be left with any doubt. Of course, that didn't mean Kagerou could just recklessly charge.

As Kagerou thought, already the gears and cogs of the village around her had begun turning. Takeda was echoing a lot of Kagerou's thoughts, and supporting some of the theories bouncing in her head. Those others that were not any of the three addressed had the good manners to not interrupt and had started moving into action to deal with the village's newest crisis in their own ways. Though, there were the usual whispers. There always were.

"A fake... A dark...?" a few mutters solidified Kagerou's finishing thoughts, .

She glanced over at Miyuki to make sure she was alright, breaking that observant stare that had been directed at all three Inkas.

Kagerou returned her invasive gaze to the triplet stars of the show after ascertaining Miyuki was alright. They intrigued her, alright, but anything she said was going to be taken as an upstart genin reaching too far ahead. If that was the case, it was better to have, apparently, literally anyone speak to Inka. Case in point, Takeda seemed to be doing just fine.

First of all, you know what? Kagerou wasn't going to be spiteful and mule headed. Rude Inka was right that it was important to recognize when something extended beyond her abilities. Also, from the tidbits Kagerou captured, it sounded like the safest place for Miyuki to be was away from the Sero. "Miyuki," a flick of Kagerou's hand procured a chocolate that looked exactly like a roach, "I'd like to call in that favor now." She tossed the trick-or-treat in Miyuki's direction along with her own headband, taken directly from her arm. Hopefully the younger girl would catch it all. Instructions that would hopefully be followed were given, "When you're in danger, eating that chocolate can give you armor. Check in on the hospital, and if they're not sending any medical aid to the Sero, then convince some medics to come. I don't know how much you can gather by just asking if they're not already sending some, but try, please. If the tree is popping out Inkas, then he's probably holed up inside it, probably in his office. Use the headband as your own." It wasn't said outright that Miyuki should lie about being inducted as a ninja by using Kagerou's headband but... it was implied. Whatever helped people to trust her words. She had no idea what state Inka must have been in if he was locked within the Sero itself, which seemed to be denying all forms of entry.

This next part was going to be harder because, by all means, the roles should be reversed. However, it was like Kagerou had already conceded. Her saying anything in a timely manner was going to be taken the wrong way. If she could avoid it, though she somehow doubted it, then she would avoid words just this once. "Takeda, I'm going straight to the Sero. We can save Inka-sama's counseling sessions for later. I need you to get some information. Fakes or not, these Inka-lones are searching for someone. 'Who' isn't important, and 'why' only marginally so. Find out 'what' they need, and before it's too late. 'How,' as well, if that's needed," she said and stared at him hard. There was no smile as she conveyed she was serious about this and had given it some serious thought. Well, that and she was in no mood to smile. Some of what had been said and what this split of Inka implied hit a little bit too close to home for Kagerou to just smile all relaxed.

Still, hated or not, Kagerou had no qualms with risking looking like she was pretentious if that's what prioritizing to check in on the Mizukage's condition was interpreted as. This was something she decided on literally just now.

• Miracle Performance - Kagerou can perform healing eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing healing medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use healing hands.

• Calamity Performance - Kagerou can perform offensive eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing offensive medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use killing hands. Harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner is guaranteed to hit as long as the condition of sound is met, but it takes one post to manifest its effects. In that time, the technique can be nullified by matching the energy (chakra/stamina/whatever else) cost Kagerou paid to use the entire jutsu, including any extra costs for additions/modifications. Those afflicted by harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner become aware that if they do not spend the required amount of chakra/stamina, then bad things will happen to their body. The target(s) will have a vague sense of how bad the damage will be, but do not know what exactly will happen.

Dream Audience - Kagerou's dream is to help as many as she could. From this desire, the dream world manifested the power to multiply the recipients of all of her eiseijutsu techniques. With neither extra effort nor decrease in power, Kagerou can affect two extra targets for each eiseijutsu activation as long as they fulfill the requirements to be a target (i.e. contact for most eiseijutsu by default or sound when Kagerou performs eiseijutsu). Past the starting two, she must spend a total of 5(n-3)+10 energy split evenly between chakra and stamina for each additional target; n = number of targets. Odd energy costs are split with 1 more point of stamina than chakra. This additional cost cannot be reduced or refunded.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Iryo-nin I - Kagerou receives a +1 dr [slightly modifier] to her eiseijutsu for each medical title earned. 2 medical titles = +2 dr [mildly modifier].

Mind and Body I - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Mind and Body II - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. Plants cultivated by Kagerou grow as if the soil they are nourished by is +1 grade higher than it actually is. Unfertilized soil yields crops in 2 rl weeks. Low-grade fertilizer yields crops in 1 week. High-grade fertilizer reaches a new level of fast and yields crops in 4 days. (Post-acceptance note: I just realized that there is an Evergreen religion in this guild. I did not mean for this to be a religious PA in any way. It's just botany. I hope that's not a problem.)

The first pulse was enough to make Miyuki freeze where she stood. Even before she looked up at the titan that loomed over the village, she recognized the Sero's chakra. She knew it intimately, and the feeling sent ice through her veins. It wasn't even a matter fight or flight; she couldn't comprehend the flood of emotions that ran rampant through her mind as the things inside of her writhed in anticipation. No, no, please don't... For the moment, they obeyed, but she still felt nauseous. Her gaze shifted up to the Sero tree, following the lines of white chakra--no, this close she could tell they weren't just chakra, but pulsating fuuinjutsu perhaps associated with the original seal that lost control months before. When all of this happened in the first place. When she was 'reborn', as it were, with little memory of her past self and some cross between a parasite and a symbiote inhabiting her body. I was better off stuck in Takumi... She was afraid it would happen again. After all it thrived on the corrupted chakra.

Although the harsh white light remained, what little of the sun that made it through the canopy faded away, causing Miyuki's panicked gaze to drift further up. The branches of the Sero grew rapidly, stretching downward like a dome until they engulfed the entire village in a leafy barrier. And then the pods formed. From her last experience, even though what happened now was very different from the last disaster, she expected the twisted monsters that had inhabited the remains of Kirigakure to emerge from them. Beside her, Kagerou and Takeda prepared themselves, but she was too frozen to do the same. She couldn't make her limbs work. The pods dropped from the tree, landing hard in front of them and making Miyuki cringe, which set her free from her temporary paralysis.

But that didn't stop her panic.

If anything it made it worse. She didn't have much in the way of defending herself; she hadn't gotten to train much beyond attempting to tame her tendrils, and had no headband to give her permission for such. She didn't want to use her tendrils, didn't want to release them for fear that they might take over, being so close to the Sero's chakra.

The pods before them began to move, squelching with the sickly sound of thick syrup, and then they unfurled, releasing the 'monster' that stood within. Miyuki hardly recognized the new Mizukage; she had only ever seen him perhaps a handful of times, even before his take over after the previous kage vanished. The one who had helped her despite what she'd become, unlike this one who felt detached from his shinobi. But maybe she just didn't know him well enough.

And then he spoke, reflecting her thoughts. He called her 'corpse eater' and 'parasite'. The man was perfectly calm as he spoke, unconcerned by her or her situation, as he described it. He reflected aloud, though, her fear of what the Sero's chakra might do to her. However, swearing from Kagerou's direction drew her attention away. Pompous b***h, the copy of the Mizukage that stood before her proclaimed. Such venom in his voice was meant to tear her down for something she had done that was supposedly out of line. It was out of line for him to treat her in such a way, regardless of his title. Especially because of his title. And it led to anger blossoming through her panic. Her hands curled into fists at her sides and she squeezed her eyes shut. Don't lose control! Focus!

She had missed what the Inka that stood in front of Takeda said, but all three forms seemed to reflect entirely different emotions. Apathy, anger, surrender. Was the Mizukage caught in the tree's corruption? Either way Takeda wasn't having it. Miyuki had gotten to learn little about the boy in their travel, despite the pleasantries of it. To him, the Mizukage was annoying, he restricted himself, he was just a puppet to the daimyo. This wasn't Inka, it was trying to make them doubt themselves, and it wouldn't work. At least for Takeda and Kagerou anyway. Miyuki hadn't come to terms with what she was; she wasn't sure she ever could. They knew the Mizukage; she didn't. And none of it changed the fact that the Sero was boiling over again. Or at least, she was convinced it was. She didn't care about the clones of Inka before them; her concerns were only for the chakra that pulsed its way up from the depths of the roots, where it was supposed to be suppressed and controlled.

Short breath. Trying not to hyperventilate. Couldn't think. Shouldn't think. Thinking was bad. Dizzy, light-headed, cold. Don't panic. That was bad, too. Was it though? Maybe she should just attack it. No, I don't want to.

Miyuki heard her name, which snapped her attention to Kagerou, rampant thoughts trying to comprehend the simple instructions the chuunin was giving her. The favor she owed, right. She almost missed the chocolate and headband tossed her way, although she still somehow caught both. The chocolate could protect her--how? Go to the hospital and send medics to the Sero. The Mizukage was probably somewhere inside the office; Miyuki was worried the tree had consumed him. Use the headband as if it was her own. She looked down at it, and then back at Kagerou with wide eyes. At least they could think. She could let them think for her, then she wouldn't have to. "I... R-right." She half-stumbled as she took a step back. She wouldn't be useful there anyway. But what was she supposed to do after the medics had been fetched? Worry about that then. With a last hesitant step, she took off for the hospital.
