[Semi-Final] Haru vs Ud

Round 3 information:

- The winner of this duel will be progressed to the final for a chance to win the rank of Brigadier or General.
- The lion/ness who is defeated will have the opportunity to duel in a Third Place Playoff for a chance to claim the title, Legate.
- The winner is the lion/ness who rolls the highest number across 5 turns. An extra turn must be rolled by each player to break a tie. [Reminder of rolls: 1 - miss, 2 - bide/glancing attack, 3 - hit]
- Even if you rolled higher than your opponent, if you fail to edit your rolls with an RP response, your character is disqualified.

The deadline for this RP is: Friday 7th April. If all RPs are finished sooner than this, than the tournament will be progressed quicker.

Move 1: Hit

Another victory meant another around. Ud was quite pleased with himself to come this far, proving that younger lions could hold their own against the older generations. He was faced with Haru now, a fellow guard whom he had seen a few times during his training. He had been rather tickled to see another red-pelted male with a black and white striped mane and, if he hadn't known both of his parents, he would have guessed that the older rogue-born was his father.

"Good luck, Captain," he said with a little smile and a bob of his head out of respect. It was so strange using these new titles - even though they weren't official just yet - but it was fun to say all the same!

Taking his time to circle Haru, the two of them sizing one another up, Ud finally darted forward. He charged straight at the other male but turned at the last moment to throw his shoulder into Haru's chest, hoping to rattle him a bit while dashing away to try to avoid a return blow.

Roll 1 haru :Hit


Haru gave a nod to the other male, he was pretty pleased with himself, as a rogue he was here to prove that he was just as good as those born in to the pride. He had certainly proven that, to this point at least, he was a captain and after this tournament was over he would be a captain, though perhaps, he would be more.

The blood red male knew Ud by sight but he had never really spoken to him, he found it amusing that the other male was virtually the same colour as he. He even let a little chuckle escape his lips. He supposed their colours wernt that unusual in the firekin.

"Good luck my friend." Uds attack struck him heavily in the chest but he had one in the bag before the other male could dive to a safe distance, he rumbled as he dove in to an attack using his shoulder to heave against the other males hind quarters hoping to dislodge his paws from the sand..

Move 2: Hit

His hit connected, but Ud wasn't quite quick enough to dodge any return hit. He felt Haru's shoulder connect with his rump and it spun him a bit sideways, but he managed to stay on his paws. Spinning a bit so he wouldn't lose his balance, Ud turned himself around quickly to face Haru once more.

He didn't waste much time, springing forward again to attack once more. Rather than aiming to simply ram Haru, he reached out with a paw this time to knock his head to the side. Sometimes rattling the brains was enough to throw a lion off their game. As always, he kept his claws within his toes, not wanting to draw blood or do any lasting damage. This was a fight of equals after all. To get this far proved that every lion was worthy of advancing further.

Haru roll 2 : Hit
Total : 6

The strike was true and Haru felt his head pounded to the left, luckily, he had taken worse hits as a cub, well, he wasn't going to start thinking of his youth while he was fighting. Spinning his head back around swiftly he ducks, and springs up under Ud's chin. He had used this move before in previous battles and having rattled the opponents jaw they often lost their footing, a perfect time to pin.

With his move initiated, and successfully deployed the big red male shuffled backwards and leapt away. They were equal opponents, so far, just one of them had to strike harder, just one of them had to make a mistake, it seemed neither one of them wanted to budge this early in the game. It was, as always, a thrill to fight those of skill.

Move 3: Miss

Ud's aim was true, but Haru's resolve let him land a hit as well. His teeth clacked together and he was thankful his tongue hadn't gotten caught between his jaws - that would have been bloody and painful. So far they were evenly matched, proving Ud's thoughts to be true. Anyone that had gotten this far was a capable warrior, one that wasn't just brute strength, but also tenacity and quick on their feet.

He backed up a bit to get some room between them, swiping as he went to try to cover his retreat. He didn't connect but that was fine, it was more to ward off Haru following him. They weren't soldiers that simply went until someone was tired, after all. They were guards that used both body and mind to compete.

Haru felt the draft of Ud's strike and though he considered another attack he decided to take a moment while the other male recovered from his headbutt. It wasn't really that he was being generous, he needed a breather, that particular move, though it had proven to be successful on many occasions left the top of his head a little bit bruised.

Considering his options the blood red captain started to circle, his tail whipping about, his dark eyes shone happily, this match was proving to be most enjoyable. What ever happened on this day he would make a friend of Ud a good, tactical sparring partner was hard to come by.

Move 4: Glancing blow

Ud fell back a bit more as Haru began to circle, the two guards waiting and watching patiently. Ud was young, but he had the feeling that whoever won this battle would go on to win in the final as well. Soldiers were hardy and strong, but they rarely thought about battle plans and when was a good time to make a tactical retreat. Granted, any soldiers that had come this far were clearly a cut above the rest, but his prediction still stood.

After catching his breath, Ud darted in and feigned to the left before dipping right, reaching out to swat as he went by. His paw grazed Haru's shoulder as he went, barely hitting him but making contact all the same.

Haru roll 4 : 3 Hit
Total : 11

He wasn't disappointed, he could feel that perhaps this was it, perhaps this would be the final blow, maybe, just maybe he was about to raise up through the ranks again. This had been an exciting tournament and though he had entered it for his own reasons he felt he had most certainly proved himself to be a powerful rogue, he had set an example and if his journey ended here he felt he had still succeeded in that but, just maybe if he rose further, the sky was the limit.

Haru smiled, the flying male left himself exposed. With a hard shove sideways the rogue male pushed at Ud's hind quarters, feeling the connect he turned swiftly to face the other male a hopeful look on his maw. Maybe, this was the end.

Move 5: Bide
Total: 11

Ud felt the hit to his hindquarter land, knocking him sideways. He scrambled to keep his footing, claws coming out to dig into the sand to stay upright. It was a hard fight, but he couldn't quite get his balance and he rolled into the sand. Moving with the momentum created by the hit, he tumbled twice before ending on his paws, thankfully.

A decent distance from Haru now, Ud sized up his options. He could attempt one more attack, but that last hit left his legs a bit shaky and he knew any last ditch effort would be rather silly. It was best to finally admit defeat and take his place in the consolation round.

Lifting his head, a smile crossed his muzzle as he sheathed his claws once more. "I yield. A great fight, Haru. You have my vote of confidence in the final around. Show them that guards and rogues are just as fit to be General as any born in soldier."

Haru settled himself on to the sand in a gentle hunch and nodded. "Thanks Ud." He smiles and rolls his shoulders. This was it, this was his final moment in this battle, he was pleased he was heading upwards. Taking a deep breath he got to his paws and walked towards Ud. "You fought well my friend, lets see where the wind takes us both hmm?"

The blood red male trots off out of the arena his tail held at a pleased angle. He knew there was another battle to come but that was another time, now, he would rest and wait to find out whom he was battling in the final round.
