Kitoweo was a lion that enjoyed the simple things in life. He did not care for creative notions, like art or dancing. He did not take a scholarly life, seeking to learn how things worked. He certainly didn't take on a religious lifestyle, pledging his life to any of the gods that were said to roam the mortal lands from time to time. No, Kitoweo was a lion of basic tastes: hunting, fighting among other males, and, of course, lionesses.

Upon his traveling through the rogue lands in search of these things, he had caught an irritatingly chatty adolescent unawares. The talkative male was no where near adulthood, yet he did have some interesting things to say, such as where he came from. It was some place called the Bonelands and the adolescent and Kitoweo made the deal that Kitoweo would let him go, if the adol pointed him in the direction of where to find this pride, who seemed to hold all his ideals.

After all, beautiful lionesses galore and he had to fight someone to get in to breed them all? Sounded like his sort of party to be sure. So, he headed in the direction indicated and had been traveling there for many days. It was when he began to scent multiple scent markers that implied the pride nearby that he decided he would make a statement by hunting on their lands. How else was he supposed to attract a male of the pride to fight?

It took some time before he managed to catch anything, the product ending up being a young gazelle, but soon he was contentedly ripping into flesh and gnawing on bone, his ears perked for the sounds of anyone approaching him and his meal.

Since the drought, the pride had been especially aware and protective of their herds. The fact that there was an unexpected hunt going on in their territory was impossible not to notice and Kuhasa was the one who decided to investigate it. If there were no known hunting parties out this way, that meant they had unwelcome guests. His initial plan had been to take a look around and see what they were dealing with but from a distance it was apparent that the stranger was alone.

With a sigh, Kuhasa stretched out his bad leg in preparation for a less than friendly confrontation. So far the need to chase off unfamiliar males had been minimal, the one time he had caught another it was a visiting son. That could be the case here but he doubted it.

He stood at a distance, watching silently for a moment before deciding to get it over with. He wouldn't close the gap between them, but he let out a great roar to announce his presence- and the fact that this lion was unwelcome. And then he waited.
