[Round 1] Kasoro vs Haru

Round 1 information:

- The winner of this duel will be guaranteed the rank of 'Corporal'.
- The winner is the lion/ness who rolls the highest number across 5 turns. An extra turn must be rolled by each player to break a tie. [Reminder of rolls: 1 - miss, 2 - bide/glancing attack, 3 - hit]
- Even if you rolled higher than your opponent, if you fail to edit your rolls with an RP response, your character is disqualified.

Move 1: Hit

Kasoro carefully unbuckled the satchel he kept on his hind leg, not wanting it to hinder him or get caught on a passing swipe. The golden bracers also came off his front paws, not needed in this little scrap between guards. He still wasn't sure about entering this competition - he had been here for quite some time, had two litters with his mate, and was certainly considered a Firekin by now - due to his rogue heritage and the secrets he kept even from his family. But now that he had cubs once again to look after he felt that a promotion might be in order. He had been a guard for many years, and his mate had encouraged him to try. He might gain two or even three spots in this little competition!

Shaking his head, Kasoro reminded himself not to count his vultures before they hatched. He lifted his head and found his fellow guard was also of rogue blood, which was a relief to him. Hopefully he wouldn't have to face a full-blooded Firekin for a round or two should he succeed. Kasoro himself was huge, so being of smaller blood wasn't an issue at all. He had his mother to thank for that...being godborn had its advantages here even if he kept it quiet.

A little bow of his head was offered to Haru, a murmured 'good luck' leaving his lips, before Kasoro was on the move. He darted forward to deliver the first hit of the match, his large paw connecting with the red pelt of the other male.

Haru had come to the firekin with a purpose. He had come here to learn how to fight, how to survive, of course he had never expected to enjoy fighting. If anything he thought he would dislike it, the need to fight, to survive simply came from the need to live a life. His blood red coat and ample size had seen him easily through the doors of the desert and after many years of tromping the sands the tournament had arrived. A tournament for promotion. The thought had eaten away at him. He wanted to win, he wanted to be the best survivor.

He turned his lips in a snarl as the other male bowed his head. He wasn't here for pleasantries, he was here to win. It was with irrritation that the other male gained the first shot. The connection of pale paw on his blood red pelt made the fire in his belly burn. Luckily, the other male didn't quite turn swiftly enough and he managed to strike a blow on the receding rear. He wasn't going to be bullied here, the other male was larger than he, but that meant nothing to Haru. the bigger they were, the harder they fell!

Move 2: Miss

Kasoro felt a return blow strike his flank and he knew that would have been a painful one if claws were used in this tournament. He would surely be sore there for some time - although his fellow Guard was smaller, he certainly was strong. Keeping a cool head and an even expression, Kasoro circled Haru slowly, bright blue eyes intent on dark brown. He waited for just a moment before darting in again, this time swinging just a bit wide of his target. Now that the element of surprise was gone - not that there was much to be had in his competition - it was far more obvious when they were going to attack.

Haru growled quietly and watched the other, he too started to circle, he braced himself and skipped backwards as the pale male swiped at him. His own paw once again darted out only to find fresh air and sand, no fur or flesh came to his paw. How annoying. It seemed despite the other lion being larger they were evenly matched. The pale maned male flattened his ears and lowered himself in to a pouncing position readying himself for the next attack.

Move 3: Glancing Blow

Kasoro managed to dodge the attack that Haru got off while he was in close range, his heart pounding in his chest. This was a true test, then, and he was sure whoever won would do well in the following round. He was happy to know that he was on even footing with his fellow Guards as he tended to go on patrols alone rather than in groups. Sometimes a reminder that he wasn't far behind the others was a good thing.

He waited just a moment longer before taking a quick step in and reaching out to swipe once more. This attack was less confident than the first because Haru was ready and waiting for an attack. He could either dodge or return, and Kasoro didn't want to leave himself open for another solid hit.

The glancing blow came as a little surprise to the awaiting Haru but as the other caught him accross the head he pushed with his back paws and head butted the pale lion under the chin hoping to knock the sense out of him. he moved backwards quickly, he had tried this move before and had been face with a very swift blow. Still it was worth the chance, he stood at the ready, patiently waiting for the next attack.

Move 4: Miss

The means of the attack came as a bit of a surprise to Kasoro who was waiting for a blow from Haru's paws. Instead he got a hard skull jammed under his jaw, forcing his teeth together painfully. He was thankful his tongue hadn't gotten caught between his jaws, otherwise that would have been a rather bloody mess. It rattled him a bit and he took a quick step back to shake his head, but once his vision cleared he was back for more. He was certainly a well-mannered Firekin, but that didn't mean he wasn't hungry for victory.

Unfortunately he wasn't quite shaken from his little dizzy spell and his swing was off once again, missing Haru's shoulder. He narrowed his eyes in irritation at himself. Surely he could take a hit and keep going, regardless if his vision was a bit blurred.

Haru could see that the other lion felt shaken from his head butt. He was pleased at this, knowing he had knocked the other male for a loop with a move like that. A smirk rose on his maw as the other male moved in close only to miss his blood red fur once again. Haru lifted a paw and struck at the other males face. He hoped that by continuing to jar his head he would become unstable enough that he could top him over. The red male felt a heavy contact and jumped away, watching carefully to see if this hit would see the other male fall and grant him victory.

Move 5: Bide

Kasoro saw the swing before it hit and had time to brace himself, knowing he couldn't duck out of the way in time. He clenched his jaw this time as the paw struck him, sending his head to the side and his body to catch up. He used the momentum to trot away, shaking the rattling pain from his mind. With two blows to the head like that he knew he wouldn't be able to continue on in any respectable way, and as he turned around to face Haru again it was without any fire in his step. He knew when he had been beat.

"Enough," he said, his voice soft but without regret. "You have skill, Haru. And you'll do well in the further competitions." He smiled a bit despite the ache in his jaw. "Show them that Guards are not to be trifled with."

Haru was ready to run in for another attack.The pale male stepped backwards and admitted defeat though. The red male let out a slow breath. He smiled and sat down. Nodding his head at the larger male. "Great fight Kasoro." He let out a long slow breath. "Good luck in the future. I'm sure you'll do better next time." He chuckles, he felt okay being chatty and cocky now. After all, he had won.

"I'll show um all, just wait and see." With this said the blood red male got to his paws and trotted off. The feeling of pride rose in his chest. He was the best at surviving, he would survive this and come out on top.
