Personality:
Calm and collected with a lack of interest in social interaction. That is how the majority would describe Erwin's personality in a sentence. At first impression of him has been described as quiet, calm, lacking of emotion yet with moments where he'll be blunt with his thoughts with no filter.
But those who know him well describes him to be the type to overthink yet meticulously, there wasn't a moment where he has been taken by surprise by anything. His apathy was what made him a rational thinker, never been biased in an argument nor has he let his emotion get in the way when it came to making decisions. Logical type. But he wasn't afraid to express his thoughts if anyone asks for his opinion. He says it like it is.
And family would say that Erwin is the quiet and calm type who prefers the reclusive lifestyle, he avoided to socialise with children his age till he went to Videl Academy as a teenager. They never understood how he was able to have little to no social interaction till high school yet he is perfectly fine with communication. He preferred to observe than engage.
But Lucius has seen it. This side of Erwin, almost like he has two personalities. When Erwin wasn't being a Vice Headmaster or Science Professor. He was a scientist helping Lucius with his underground research. Cold, sadistic with no morals when it comes to experimenting on live subjects while meticulously taking notes on any result. Death of the subject only means that he needs another subject. He's determined to do whatever it takes to complete no/ or succeed his research.

Backstory:
Let's start from the beginning. In the small village of Bamberg, Germany; Erwin's far back relatives were highly looked upon. Working as the doctors, inventors and even philosophers. But, a dark secret has been passing through generation by generation. A genetic disorder of Schizophrenia. No one knew the term, mostly because the illness never had a name until 1910. But nonetheless, they were known to be highly intelligent yet being crazy. And that's how the last name 'Verrückter' came to be. It means crazy, mad, insane, etc.
Fast forwarding to Erwin's family branch. He belonged to a rich one and also well known in Europe for it's long history. It's been told that ones in the Verrückter bloodline is to succeed. Erwin's mother, Klara; has been picked to marry his father; Erich who happens to be one of the top paid surgeon in Germany and well known in Europe. His older brother, Ernst (Fifteen years older) is one of the most successful lawyer. And last but not least, his older sister, Erika (Ten years older) is the top paid model in Europe. Step aside America's Next Top Model. But Erwin, he hasn't found it yet, although he has grown an interest in the sciences department. He's been struggling to do anything to be remembered by.
Moving on. Erwin's childhood has been in the operating room, watching his father perform. This was the root of Erwin's interest to human anatomy, his curiosity has gotten him to get a part job at the morgue assisting the mortician. One of the Verrückter family tradition is that all the men have a tattoo, or was it just their family. Either way, Erika managed to watch her brothers suffer in the sideline with their mother with a smile on her face. Erich went with a mountain hare, Ernst chose the grey wolf and Erwin decided to pick a diamond back snake. But something went terribly wrong, the ink has gotten into his nervous system and it was painful for it to travel through the entire system. Erwin knew something was wrong when everything went numb that night but didn't say a word about. And that was how he was able to manipulate his tattoo to start off.
His parents sent him to Videl Academy, England because they were aware of Erwin's non existing social life. Thinking a new school in a different country will help that. And that was where he met them, a boy who bares navy blue locks and golden orbs with the name Thanatos. Who was accompanied by a boy with almost the exact same feature as Erwin, they were almost identical, taking out a few details with the name Lucius. Thanatos was the brute honest type yet Lucius was the playful type and Erwin was the quiet type. Three different personalities yet they somehow become close friends. Lucius and Erwin would usually be mistaken for each other or even siblings.
Erwin was in the school library during the event with Lucius and Thanatos but he made sure to fill him in the next morning before class. Which actually intrigued the young boy, almost to the point where he actually wanted to dissect the English boy just to figure it out. But that was put aside and forgotten. The three kept a kept close until the two older boys graduated only for Erwin to graduate a year later.
Erwin still had no plan for the ultimate success in his family but he pursued to study medicine and organic science only to end up graduating with a PhD. Finally finishing his students, he got a mysterious letter inviting him to teach at a school with a name he is oh so familiar with. The Videl Academy. Memories were brought back, only to have an old friend to beg him to work at the very same place they met.
And with the terrible death of one of their dear close friend. Erwin can't stand to watch some stranger take his place which is where they are now, Erwin has continued teaching science. But he has also taken Thanatos' position as Vice Headmaster. He may have to work twice as much but he likes it like that. He says more work is better than none. As a teenager he was aware of his family history of schizophrenia. His father has been starting to show mild signs of it according to the letters he occasionally get from his mother, his older siblings have not shown any and neither has he. But the question is, how long will it be until the signs appear? Which is what has been eating at Erwin since he knew about his family's history.
